    It's the same in Switzerland. You are only able to pay online by credit card, but not debit/maestro. Actually I think except for the EU it's like that every where...

    @Condor @Wack most banks offer something like a "virtual card" for online payments. It really can be a blessing for us folks in EU who don't have Visas

    @Wack it really sucks how they pretty much prevent EU citizens from trading with them though.. wouldn't the lost sales be a good enough incentive for these companies to start accepting Maestro?

    @dontPanic oh, interesting! When I get back to my bank during their business hours, I'll try to remember to ask the bank clerk about it. Thanks for mentioning this! 🙂

    Oh, the irony!!! 😤

    Do they accept Diners Club? That's the only one I have and it keeps my spendings low, because no-FUCKING-body accepts it.

    @Condor Dang!

    I have this one, because it was free ten years ago over some special offer. They only started charging for it ~2 yrs ago. I guess I should cancel it and get a VISA or MC instead.

    Why don’t you use Revolut?

    @samuelpearson this is the first time that I've heard about that to be honest. Looks interesting though!

    In case of banking I'm quite proud of my country. We have in Poland one of the most advanced banking systems in the world.

    @dontPanic I use a virtual card here in Canada. It's nice

    The bank would charge 1,50€ anyway
  • 3
    @bcye I've never had any charges placed by my bank, be that for €1 or €100 transfers...

    @Condor yeah but if it’s cross-country, I have on every card payment in eu non my country 1,50€

    FWIW: they do accept debit, it's just that maestro has like zero marketshare in the US. While technically you can run maestro against the MC network, that I believe depends on payment processor, and I think that card processor is Stripe, judging by the UI. It's not so much the site's fault as Stripe not willing to offer it. If you had a actual MasterCard/Visa branded, it would work fine.

    Oh you have money in your bank account. We can't accept that, we need to have a system where you loan out money and pay it back with interest for the transfer to work.

    Fucking idiots.
