It seems that the market has decided to go crazy and now all developers need to be a living StackOverflow reference and masters of every single programming language/framework that has ever existed.

    Don't forget :

"Expertise with CMS like Hubspot and wordpress"

Nobody will get that job, i can pretty much guarantee that

How android is somehow related to iOS? And why EMBEDDED C /C++ , why embedded? Experience in Linux I roughly understand why.... But why windows?

@johnmelodyme because too many recruiters are stupid. I just saw a front end developer ad asking for experience in SQL, distributed control systems (shoot me), and Java. Might as well ask for electrical engineering and DBA experience

@TeachMeCode front end with SQL? oh god ...
  • 2
    @johnmelodyme distributed contrôl systems....

@TeachMeCode wrong. A person who lied in his/her CV will get that job. Because anyone who creates such riddicolous JD, will also have broken recruitment process... so yeah

    Update:

Recruiter said he accidentally screwed up the iOS developer spec by merging it with the full stack spec (what ever that means). Has promised it is an iOS developer role and will get back to me.

Interesting that this is a second time this week that something similar has happened.

    Stay tuned

@practiseSafeHex you know that recruiter's explanation is B.S? 99% chance that recruiter doesn't have idea what is the job about and/or looking for a unicorn.

@bzq84 oh I have a degree in recruiter-bullshit-ology, from the national institute of “Get the fuck outta here”.

Fully aware it’s BS, fully aware he’s way out of his depth. But the company’s product sounds interesting and they don’t have jobs posted anywhere else. All I’m looking for is confirmation it is an iOS role and a contact to get passed him. I’ll take it from there. This is unfortunately the dance that must be done in this area for some reason lol

@practiseSafeHex yeah, it's so sad you have to get through incompetent recruiter, answer stupid questions, only to be given chance to prove your skills with some competent (hopefully) recruitment manager

@bzq84 LOL you’re right, that makes sense sad as it is

@bzq84 so I guess this is why the subject matter of so many rants not only got jobs but great paying ones too. I’m the opposite, I suck at getting jobs but great at doing them. I do well when asked to demonstrate my skills but getting that opportunity is tough. It’s not like I’m struggling with fizz bizz tests

@practiseSafeHex must have been using a distributed control system to manage their MSword documents

I don't get this expectation of a “full-stack” developer. To me, it seems impossible to know every layer.

I also don't get developers who claim themselves as “full-stack,” which sounds likes a scam.
