Anyone an ai engineer here? I rarely find any ai engineers anywhere. Especially here too. Almost no one talks about ai engineering and code. Makes me wonder. How difficult it is to transition from SWE into data science field and work as ai dev?

the title AI Engineer is so stupid, even the industry is not sure if it's developers who use ai and ml for developing apps or if it's developers who build ai and ml tools to be used by others.

i'd argue you don't need to switch from SWE at all, because this stuff is just a hyped up part of SWE. Frankly, all software engineers i know work in that field are just that: software engineers.

The ones i know never called themselves AI Engineers tho, they just happen to build, train and apply ML Systems to Software.
