How do people feel about Webstorm versus VS code? I've been using code a while, it's pretty nice with all the plug-ins. I like the integrated terminal.

Im wondering if Webstorm is better since it has a more targeted development and they're obviously trying to constantly add convenient web dev features? Is it worth the cost? Anybody have any thoughts or used bother before? I'm gonna probably give Webstorm a try tomorrow to see if I like it or not.

I've been enjoying PHP Storm for a while. It has a lot of features, but can feel a bit bloated if you don't use most of them.

The on the fly code analysis and code completion are really good. But damn it uses a lot of computer resources. It's can get really slow at times. Slower than VS Code and Atom.

Try the free trial if you're unsure.

@Highwind yeah, thanks, I'm definitely gonna look at the free version pretty thoroughly before I commit. That's some really useful advice. I used pycharm before and really liked it. But that was a decently long time ago, now.

Thanks, I'm trying to find ways to improve my environment overall. Right now I'm using windows, which is obviously a pain in the ass come configuration. I like vs code a lot though. I really enjoy fedora and mint, so maybe I'll make one of those my main. As you can tell, I'm really trying to weigh some options, just want to get a nice environment which feels the most natural to me.

@ChachiKlaus I'm on the same quest lately. Replaced Windows 7 with Arch Linux on my laptop and it's working pretty well.

With Wine 3.0 just being released and apparently Photoshop CC seems to be running pretty well. Hoping that IllustratorbCC and InDesign CC work just as well.

Just a tad closer to having a full Linux working environment.

@Highwind how do you like using arch for development? It's another I was considering. Is it nice and stable for you? That was my only real concern.

@ChachiKlaus I've only had it for a short time and it's been great. It's not my main machine though. I still use Windows at home and OS X at work.

The learning curve is pretty steep for running Arch Linux if you've never used any other distro before, but the wiki is extremely well written and amazingly useful.
