    What does the last bracket mean? Ohhh silly me, I didn't watch the comment.

    I had a compsci teacher that *insisted* on commenting everything, even when code was written legibly (for example backgroundColour = green;)
    At one point I got so pissed off that I commented an entire project line by line

    \\ blank line for increased legibillity

    \\ closing bracket

    @filo the blank line is just awesome!! Ahahahahah

    @filo What was their response to your commenting?

    //uselessComment

    @filo what lang uses double backslashes to comment?
  • 2
    @filthyranter havent seen that many. so let me rephrase: which language did you use with those backlash comments?

    @romangraef Misread your comment

    I actually saw that multiple times from completely different devs myself, is it some plugin people use to troll?

    function add() { // create a function

    #define CLOSE_BRACKET } ?

    I can’t understand that code. What does line 18 do? Please provide more information and 183663847 sites of documentation.

    // Comment // Descriptive comment

    @romangraef Those are forward slashes. :-)

    @pacohojaverde i meant those in @filo comment

    The original post is an extreme case but admittedly, I will add a comment on a closing bracket to help me remember what class/method/etc. it pairs with if it has a lot of lines after its opening bracket. { ...100+ lines of code... } // End of ThisMethod
  • 0
    @romangraef Ah, I see. Lol, maybe it was like -> //\\

    Maybe I should start commenting oit my programs not detailed instead of not at all...
  • 3
    @pacohojaverde This code only has 17 lines. There's more comments than actual code
  • 1
    @theNSA 😂😂😂 I know, that's what makes it so extreme! Maybe the first line through the thirteenth are like...a thousand chars wide because of a formatting error, lol. Even so, they're not very useful comments. 🤦‍♂️
  • 1
    I guess the standard rules should be dont documment what the code do but why the code is there
  • 2
    So that's what the NSA is spending all their billions on - pretending they're doing work when they're actually writing useless comments.

    @pacohojaverde You should really consider to make smaller functions 😂😂😂

    That's still not my most despised kind of comment...that would be a thousand lines of recursive spaghetti code with globals everywhere manipulating 3d objects made up of xyz points with no comments other than "//Where the magic happens". True story. If you're out there, thanks asshole.
