    +1 Would certainly buy!

    ...the tape doesn't really do much, the things you say are much more valuable than seeing what you do...

    @c3ypt1c Well it's better than nothing
  • 4
    And I'd instantly buy those yes

    @linuxxx I mean sure, but if I was a super sneaky hacker slacker, I would avoid activating the camera at all costs to actually not turn on the hardware light to be undetected. It just seems pointless when you have a hardware camera light so that you can see when it's enabled.

    There are a lot of other reasons why super sneaky hacker slackers might not want to use cameras to spy on people.

    It just feels like a really redundant idea.

    @c3ypt1c There are many malwares which don't activate the light haha. With my next laptop I'm going to physically cut the cord though :)

    @linuxxx I always assumed the motherboard controlled the power and with that the light too... But that's good to know. Make sure you cut the microphone wire too while you're at it ;)

    @linuxxx isn't cutting the chord a bit harsh? I mean if you only use the software you trust, even taping the cam seems unnecessary. Yet again, I have mine taped since I was 11y/o, so I'm a hypocrite

    @c3ypt1c yeah, that's actually a popular misconception, I also thought that for a long time 8)

    @dontPanic I mean, the built in mics/cameras are usually pretty bad. You're better off using a high quality usb one since you have complete control of when and what you record.

    @dontPanic I use an external mic/cam anyways so there's no point in keeping the default ones up :)

    Is it wrong to advertise my rant about this
  • 4
    The irony of the post! @theNSA suggesting for laptop cam covers!

    @linuxxx

    No need.

    Get a MacBook. Install Linux on the MacBook. Not even the NSA can get those iSight drivers to work.

    So you're saying you don't disconnect the camera from under the screen bezel altogether?
  • 4
    @c3ypt1c personally i just don’t want anyone watching me alone in a bathtub at 3am eating string cheese and watching the office

    @Tawzer you make a fair point 😂
