The thing is, that it only happens for original posting.
There is no problem, when it comes to the commentaries ;)

Immediately the joke failed because the mention wasn’t reversed.

Double fail is that mentions don’t work in rants.

In case you want to ensure developers get the message, you intentionally write down the mention backwards to post it in order.

Furthermore imho it does not make sense, mentionings do not work in the original posting.
I highly doubt there is some kind of limitation.
