I can't believe that there would be anyone that would choose the light theme.

something actually came to mind: projectors, for e.g. presentation purposes - you will need the light theme, because the dark theme usually is barely readable once projected

@JoshBent good point. Luckily my machine will probably never have to do that, but it's a valid point for sure. Would be nice it if could be switched on-demand, but I don't have enough experience with Android Studio yet to comment on that.

@Condor well it's adjustable in the settings, but a quick-switch for people that often change those, would be handy for sure, like as a passable arg, to just have a shortcut for each on your desktop

Just because the dark theme is available doesn’t mean it’s worth using.

    you'd be fucking surprised

I use the light theme on Android studio because the dark one has very poor readability and reduces my perspective of the whole file and consequently my navigation speed. A platform like sublime however offers fantastic dark themes that have good contrast and great productivity.

... and some programs are dumb enough to DEFAULT to it!

I would, there are sonme programming languages where I can only work if I have the light theme on

Last course i took we were all working on the same profile in VS, so when anyone changed theme it applied to all of us within minutes.

I went with the "it's easier to read on dark theme 'cause i'm colourblind" card (which is true), and that finally settled the matter :)

Have you ever watched any tutorials?

    @JoshBent

That would be nice. Also like a timer, like f.lux or similar that turns dark mode on at night. I don't mind a white theme on my laptop as I usually travel and have then sun making the screen difficult to read.

Only on Android Studio do i actually prefer the light theme. Maybe its because i started off with it so i can't make the switch anymore, feels like too great a commitment going to the dark side on this one

Dark theme is a perfect companion for every dev: it inspires a dark, soulless mood that merge very well with the desperate sessions of debugging and testing, in an hopeless day of failed builds.

    Man, I love dark themes.

Gimme that light theme of yours.

I always use light themes unless I'm in a baldy lit environment 🤷

War of century, dark vs light.

I actually use the light theme in VS when I am coding on the road, because even on a Dell XPS you have no chance of winning against a cloudy or a bright day in a car. Tbh cloudy days are the worst because you can see yourself all the time.

@UltraJason Originally I wanted to flip that statement including your user name, but it turned out quite dark.
