Can we have a own DevRant section for Arch GNU Linix rants about botched up updates, reinstalls, failed at installing it and it's nihilistic reasons why you want to endure the hassle of doing that? Or at least a WK question like "How many times did you reinstall Arch Linux?" 🤪

@Condor I’m not sure I understand. What original rant/image are you saying that person stole from you?

@Condor I’m still a little confused. Who’s watermark is it on the image? Or was that added before or something?

I thought you meant you had posted it on devRant and someone took it from there. I’m still kind of confused exactly what happened and kind of meant I was curious to see your original image/post.

It’s unfortunate, but comics/memes are generally shared with little regard to the original author. I’m not saying it’s right, but I also kind of doubt the person you accused of stealing it from you specifically stole it from you. How do you know they didn’t just find it elsewhere from someone else who took it from the group and thought the watermark credited the author? To be honest, I’d probably think the same thing if I saw that, I’m generally not too familiar with comics/memes haha. Or at that point I think it’s probably unclear who the original author even was, after something gets shared a few times.

Also, to be safe, if you do care about people posting mashups of comics you make like that, you should add some watermark of your own. That’s really the only way you’re going to be able to maintain credit unfortunately. That’s why on devRant we automatically watermark shared images with the posters username.

When Tim posted one of our devComics on Reddit, the next day we found people posting it with completely different text and making mashups of it.

@Floydian yeah, I mean it’s a good point on the state of the internet m. It is what it is.

And let’s be honest - how many of us have used an image here without knowing who the original author is? Pretty much everyone, including myself and everyone in this thread.
