You know what sucks? That I'm looking for new phones and all I see is no dust and water proof, headphone jacks disappearing (great. Now I should remember to recharge my headphones too! 😡), not many have fast charging (it's 20-fucking-18. Catch up already), and a lack of expandable memory (No, I don't want cloud services for all my -maybe naked- photos. I wanna get the memory out of this one and in the next one)...

Like, what is happening? Do you, phone maker, wanna make something that people need, or force people to use the shit you wanna make and sell? smh...

    tbh tho, oppo find x and Vivo NES are looking amaze-balls!

    You had me at naked photos.

    Send nudes now.

    @Floydian

    😒😒😒 How do you know it's not from a rash developed down-under?
  • 5
    @NoMad trust.

    I trust you that you'll send the best ones.

    @Floydian

    Oh boy. You're in for a surprise! 😏😏😏

    Nude photos hmm hmm :thinking:

    @NoMad full swing.

    Nobody wants to appear ugly in photographs they share online. Especially nude ones.

    The stats I want are marching away to gigantic phones. Give me a 4.7" flagship, goddammit!

    The big problem is, that most people believe the marketing bullshit and really think that cloud services and wireless headsets are a great improvement.

    I face the same problem. I think about changing my smartphone, but the number of manufacturers shrink, and the technical improvements are for playing top trumps, rather than everyday use (has there been any improvement on battery life for the last 10 years?)

    Ugh. I have the same problem. My requirements are headphone jack, micro SD slot, fast charging, and the phone can't be any bigger than my current phone (Galaxy S8). The last one is because I have smallish hands and need to be able to fit my phone in the front pocket of my women's jeans, which are naturally significantly smaller than men's jeans pockets. I hate purses. How much longer will I be able to find a high end phone this size before I have to start buying men's jeans?

    Edit: that -> the

    You're looking for phones under 400$ don't you? There are some dust / water prrof with jack and expandable memory but at 700$ and more
  • 5
    @Andrian

    I really don't care about the price as much as I care for it being worth the money I'm spending on it. At 700 (USD I assume you're referring to) it should save my life, be unbreakable, protect my privacy and kill my enemies too 😛

    @ddephor hahah this is great! It's literally only my wallet and phone that I need to carry in my pockets. My pocket is almost the same size as my phone...there isn't any room to fit a bigger phone!
  • 8
    @Floydian instructions unclear, dick stuck in jack connector.
  • 2
    @bahua Yup, same here. I'm still clinging to my Sony XPeria Z5 Compact. If you don't want an iPhone or a 5 year old phone, you'll have to settle for 5.2" at least ._.
    I mean the new OnePlus is 6.3 fucking inches?! Why?? Just get yourself a fucking tablet if you need that much screen
  • 1
    IIRC, OP6 does have all of those features
  • 1
    Galaxy S9? Expandable memory, headphone jack, apparently supposed to be properly splash proofed as well. Up to 4A fast charge.
  • 1
    Well actually the s9(+) has everything you mentioned
  • 1
    @NoMad oh wow, didn't know the nex is already production ready THAT fast, thought it'll take them much longer since that first device, that cost them a fortune.

    If you wouldn't have had water proof and fast charge as a spec, then basically almost all xiaomis could be a great option, especially the redmi note lineup (global versions), e.g. redmi note 4:

    - headphone jack
    - great fingerprint scanner
    - 1080p
    - Snapdragon 625
    - 64GB storage
    - expandable storage / microSD, up to 256 GB (uses SIM 2 slot)
    - 13/5 MP camera
    - very long battery life, if my old phone was at 0% or 8% at the end of the day, this one is at 85% and I do all things like active background ssh, playing, browsing, watching videos etc.
    - notification led
    - 4GB ram
    - dual sim

    It's pretty amazing device, especially for its price of just 200$ish, so I feel the trade-offs you'd do, are worth it

    If you don't mind Samsung and the lack of custom ROMs, the Samsung galaxy a5 2017 has literally everything you want.
  • 1
    @daemonAD

    Not the extended mem. Also the availability in Australia.

    I have one major problem with Samsung:
    Screen/video quality has always seemed pretty bad compared to same-range Sony. 🤔

    I’ve had an iPhone X for months now. Fucking hate it. I will sell it and buy a fucking xiaomi mi mix 2, seems like a good product after all
  • 3
    @cursee

    Specially her right hook. Really beautiful. 😐

    The OnePlus 6 looks pretty good too. It only $500 I think.
  • 1
    @TomW

    Seriously, oppo of the same range is pretty similar just cheaper. And I have to admit, they're pretty innovative. Wait for Oppo Find X rip off to become the next iPhone or OnePlus project.
  • 2
    I look at phones as a disposable commodity. I refuse to spend mad money for all the bullshit. That said, I used to run with the Google Nexus line or OnePlus but they are all doing the "premium" dance these days. Best bang for the buck, the Moto G line IMHO.

    @azous Agree bro. @NoMad c'mon now.. we are waiting.

    I just want something handsize with a long battery and basic smartphone functionality.
    Doesn't exist.

    @GeaRSiX checkout Moto series

    @Floydian

    Hey, I'm working my best to get my grandma-body ready, but it takes time. You gotta wait. 😜

    @NoMad how about a no?
  • 1
    I just want a phone that will be updated for at least the next few years... so except nokia apparently there is no other android phone maker out there that does this...

    Next thread where I can just plainly recommend my OP5 (respectively 5T / 6).

    A OnePlus is very affordable and their devices don't suck. End of story.

    Quick specs to get you hooked:

    -Dual cameras so your photos look absolutely amazing

    - 3200mah and fast charge so you can go for the entire day, and if you forgot to charge it half an hour and it's full

    - sturdy unibody and good screen (accidently let it slide over rough ground, corner was a bit pierced on the outside, the small scratches on the display are barely noticable)

    - Android 8.1

    - 6" (amoled? iirc) Screen

    - 128gb Storage

    - 8gb ram

    - blazingly fast cpu

    - did I mention it only costs 500 - 600€ ?

    - An all around good experience.
