    You can hide the icon but not this line when you're opening the tray. But do keep in mind that it's still a beta ;)

    Unfortunately, Android has a bad habit (or good habit, depending on the point of view) of killing services when it's in need of memory or if the service eats too much battery. The only way (or simplest, I don't actually know if it's the only way) to prevent this is to put a persistent notification in the tray. I think it is to prevent some applications to capture all the RAM and battery without the user being aware of it.
