Is there an alternative to Stereo Mix? My sound card doesn't support it.

I don't want a half-assed trial version. I shouldn't have to pay for something that every sound card should support nowadays. Removing this from many modern sound cards is one of the most retarded tech decisions I've ever seen since the fucking Apple Pippin.

But rant aside, any ideas? I've tried Virtual Audio Cable and it sucks. I also checked AlternativeTo and couldn't find anything decent.

I think Stereo Mix was also removed from the drivers of old sound cards because of copyright bs.

@jonii yeah if the drop in quality is tolerable.

@electrineer spoiler: it is not, I was just trying to be funny

@jonii Well it can be good enough if it's just speech and the sound card is half decent.

@electrineer well IF it's a good soundcard. Anyway, I've had that problem as well, I couldn't find a tool for it either, but depending on what you wanna do there might be some workarounds.

@jonii Ew, cables. I don't like those and am too lazy to go buy one. I want software.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

@EclipseMain Nothing wrong with cables but the DA/AD conversions and the amplifiers on your sound card are to avoid.

I don't know what you want to do but OBS Studio can record audio from output devices.

What is Stereo Mix and what is it used for? The only thing I used that for was the original Bioshock because the sound wasn't working.

@DrPitLazarus it basically puts all the audio output in an input, as if you would place a microphone in front of your speakers, just virtually

    I see.

@EclipseMain What sound card do you have? Also on my pc, Stereo Mix is located under Recording.
