    I don't know why people hate VS. for C C++ and . NET languages you cant find a better IDE than VS (speaking from experience).

    @TRex seriously. The Microsoft hate seems to linger like a bad fart. In addition to your IDE points, all the dot net stuff is open source and dot net core can compile to many different target frameworks and growing. It's a fantastic choice.

    @TRex and don't forget Visual Studio Code, another great free IDE that can do everything else outside of dot net.

    @TRex it used to be Windows-only, but it isn't anymore. Visual Studio 2017 can be installed on both Windows and iOS. Visual Studio Code as well, plus Linux.

    It can be pricey but also VS Community is fully-featured and free if you are a student, independent developer, hobbyist, etc.

    I understand people have their preferences and have their own reasons for them. That's totally fine. Use Microsoft products, don't use Microsoft products, /shrug. These days not using them is basically a choice.
