@dfox
Please add disable account option. Not deleting in servers, but disabling the public level so that google can't see, other people can't see, only the owner can see. This way we can still have upvotes (which i don't really care tbh)

    But why would you ever want that?

    @ruhe You're on a social network for privacy? :P

    @Jifuna for people who want to delete their account but want to keep their rants

    @CozyPlanes ah okay now I understand.

    @Jifuna right now, your rants and your profile all are visible for search machines like Google. This means that everyone can easily find you. E.g. Instagram does not allow that and as a result you can't find Instagram users via Google. That kind of protection makes a social media platform more private and I'd really wish that devRant offers that privacy

    @dfox add "download account" option, not disable. Under the hood, disable doesn't seem like it would work. It would also encourage this sort of behavior, where discussions in comments would become obliterated by missing replies. Deleting your account is a daunting option which, by nature, disencourages this sort of stupid behavior.

    "Ohhhh me dramatic, me disabled me account because me sad aww"

    Plus imagine all the people who disable their account instead of delete, then forget about it forever, just soaking up server resources.

    To be honest I feel that this would be trying to fix a small annoyance caused by a way bigger issue.

    The main thing we should look at is how can we avoid people wanting to delete their account.

    @mrtn deleting is fine and also possible. But instead of making a disable method shouldn't we make a place people don't want to disable or delete their account?
