Just spent the last hour putting a raspberry pi into a cardboard box for my web server, I had to humanize him a bit, I think I'll name him Carl

An hour for a cardboard box?

I don’t get the DIY scene sometimes - 5 seconds and away you go:

@C0D4 it was mostly cutting the box for the ports, also 1hour was more of an exaggeration, it took more like 45 minutes(still way too fucking long

Don't mock Carl, he's a little slow but it's not his fault.

@C0D4 for cardboard that's a good point (still, measurement and cutting can take a while, especially when you want it to be very precise), but for e.g. a simple wood standoff it took me almost half a day of uninterrupted work (I spread it out over the weekend) just because of a lack of certain tools and because I wanted it to look good. And I had to measure, cut, drill and assemble it of course. Prefab solutions are good sometimes (when you just want something default), custom and time-consuming solutions are better other times (like when you want it to fit your use case exactly).

I imagine even simple engineering tasks are a lot like trying to style something with CSS. Sure it seems like it should take 5 minutes but the mother fucker took an hour. It is what it is.

    Carl is a bad ass.
