My one teammate who I really liked submitted his resignation yesterday.

As most of you know, I have been on fence for some time about my future.

But really, working for this company is a great opportunity and they really do treat me very well.

I think once we move this month and I work more closely with my boss face-to-face in Canada everything will work out.

I believe chat is causing most of the issue as it is difficult to discern tone over chat.

I just want to get this move over with and get up there and get going. less than 20 days before the move.

Also, the boss promised to hire more devs, and I have the opportunity to become a lead/manager.

    Hang in there little bit longer. Things will get better in 2019.

    Studying French now so I won't be a fish out of water completely. Should be completely conversational in 6 months once we are there.

    @hash-table They're all great cities. I'm sorry I forgot Montreal. Huge software dev there. I've played so many games made in Montreal.

    @hash-table That's great! I can get by in French barely, but it's a pretty tricky language. It is kind of neat having two official languages though.

    Yeah, I was up there two weeks ago for a week and really like it. It is my first step to permanently get out of US. So thankful of opportunity. US is just getting so bad with crime, gun violence, hatred, politics, once the next recession comes in 2-3 years everyone who didn't look ahead and get out when they could will be fucked.

    @hash-table Oh man I don't blame you. You're making a good choice.

    Mind you that shit happens everywhere now. Even Canada's not immune.

    I mean it's way less bad here don't get me wrong. But we've had van attacks… gun attacks, though far fewer.

    Fuckin' way she goes.

    Yeah, you do get random violence, but honestly, I worry every day to/from work when I merge in rush hour traffic if someone is going to shoot my car up because they didn't like the fact I merged in front of them. This is serious issue, we get at least 1-2 shootings over road rage per day on news here. And it is just random, the shooters almost never get caught, it is crazy. I worry about whether I will get robbed and shot taking out the trash or walking to my car. It is nuts really, the US has gotten unlivable unless you make enough money to live in the "rich" bubble and shield yourself away from it all.
