Came home yesterday and the first thing I did is revive my old (first) laptop. Apparently this is how hard drive can be replaced - stripping down to the mother board.

Ubuntu in and damn the nostalgia!

    Haha the installation screen already screams unsupported graphics drivers. Also, you should really install Lubuntu if you wanna have any chance of using this thing.

    @kenogo Didn't see that glitch for display post installation though performance is not at par. Definitely will have to go ahead with Lubuntu now.

    I had an anti-ESD wrist band when working on it.

    @sudocode Well It's not that bad if the electronics themselves are lying on a carpet, especially if you also had an anti-ESD wrist band. It's more of a problem if you stand on a carpet while working on the electronics. So yeah, you should be good

    @sudocode Carpet can easily build up static electricity. It can be dangerous. I always work on a non-conducting surface.
