I'm supposed to take a work-related online course which you pay for monthly. My boss asked me to start it now, but I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks, so I told him it's a pity to pay for a month when I'm only available for 2 weeks.
He was like, but can't you continue the course-work on your vacation?

"You answered everything with 'margarita'. Needless to say, this is incorrect. I'm just not sure how you did that, given that they were all true/false questions."

    "No, I can't, because I'm on vacation"
    The end

Or, even better, take the money, work your 2 weeks, go on vacation, and if he complains when you come back you tell him to pay for another month.

Don't make the mistake of letting him think, even for a moment, that he is the master of your personal time.

@endor I told him I'm willing to work 1 day a week (my vacation is 3.5 weeks) on this course if it counts as a working day, and not as vacation day. He rejected my offer, so I guess I will start in January and if the project get delayed because of it...well, bummer.

I was required to do an online SaaS course by a previous employer, but they refused to let me do any of it while at work.

I did half of it while at work until my boss "caught me" and yelled at me for wasting company time. So, I got 50% on the course.

"You do certification courses outside office hours", I was told!

Well, the funny thing is I don't even want to do it. Firm policy requires new joiners to do one certification.

Had the same reaction. Bitch, WTF!

Lmbo. I'm in the same situation as you except I traded one of the days off for a day that was I supposed to work. Fortunately, my boss is understanding.
