Bloody slow Facebook !

If you ever try typing a long message, it slows down to a crawl !

Is that because they are sending your entire message every time you type a character to Facebook/etc. ?

It's like typing something on a 1980's computer.

No wait, its even slower than that !

    Pro tip: #DeleteFacebook.

    @M1sf3t You can have a deactivated Facebook profile and still have messenger. I don't like random people adding or stalking my profile but I had to keep messenger because it's the only way for me to connect with some people - my landlady and my peasant brother who thinks a Facebook message is equivalent to an actual text. I plan to get rid of messenger soon after I move.

    @M1sf3t

    Thanks.

    I'll have to try that.

    It doesn't break Facebook does it ?

    Does it make the read/unread message flags not function ?

    @Floydian

    If only there was some other popular social media site where I could meet lots of interesting and useful people, with groups full of interesting and useful people about things that interest me..

    Like here, but with more people. :-)

    Deleting Facebook is possible until you had dev APis, now I can’t delete the account entirely.

    Now I just have a highly private account with everything locked down to me/friends only (where possible) and have messenger for the few people I need to be able to contact internationally.

    @Nanos Reddit. Trust me, you can never find another social network with such a good moderation and full of amazing people having sense of humour.

    @m1sf3t @rutee07 damn! can you use Messenger and not Facebook? Have been wanting to keep in touch with many people but never knew I could do this. I do care for privacy though.

    @M1sf3t @Floydian Yes, ever since they made a separate app for messenger, I think. I often chat with people there and they wonder why they can't find me on Facebook profiles but can chat with me on messenger.

    @rutee07 What about your sexual desires that Mark is tracking?

    @Floydian

    I guess I could code a client for Reddit too, as I find it difficult to find things I want/etc.

    I occasionally read stuff there.

    Does Reddit have an API ?

    @Floydian Lol, I just read this. How did I miss this comment? Haha. I don't really mind if it gets his dong hard for his ching chong. And I use WhatsApp for dirty shit + burner phone.

    @Nanos indeed it has. I can help with functional stuff for the client.

    @M1sf3t even I thought so before I joined. I joined and quit immediately. Few months later, I am hooked. Just takes time for one to settle.

    @rutee07 hahaha Mark is kinky.

    Reddit ist obviously great, but what percentage of the contacts do you actually know in real life?

    80's computers were fast as fuck.
    They had almost no hardware and the software was optimized for the little resourse they had.

    @Maer seems you are confusing reddit with LinkedIn
  • 0
    @mundo03 How so?
  • 0
    @Maer like reddit is an online community, mo need to know people IRL, LinkedIn is the opposite
  • 0
    @mundo03 I am aware, this is why I pointed out, that it doesn't really compare to Facebook, cause that came up above.

    In the sense that Reddit is no replacement for Facebook, the two don't really share any common ground

    @Floydian I would delete my account if so many businesses didn't rely solely on Facebook for their web presence
  • 1
    @Dropkick500 how does their presence, impact your decision?
  • 0
    @Floydian Should I need to contact one of said businesses

    > 80's computers were fast as fuck.

    FX [ Nods in agreement. ]

    Though a ZX81 in slow mode wasn't particularly nippy. :-)

    But a BBC Micro with a Z80 CP/N card was pretty nifty, even over a network !

    and they built a fucking framework for that... I'm kinda baffled actually...

    I found for some reason that if I close my browser and reopen it, Facebook goes back to normal speed for a while, until it slows down to a crawl again..

    I wonder why it does that ?

    It didn't used to do that..

    Using Firefox browser.
