When writing a troubleshooting section in a training / reference doc, don’t ask users to “check the power cable is connected properly”, instead say “unplug the power cable from the device and from the wall. Check for damage. If undamaged, plug back in to device and wall”.

Don’t say “ensure wall power is switched on”, say instead “switch power off at the wall, wait 10 seconds and switch back on”.
