Sometimes, you're not bored, you're intimidated. You're not lazy, you're afraid.

I'm so sick of people who say they really REALLY want to be a developer because they want a job that focuses on logic and analytical skills and goes ahead and says:

"I can't pay attention because it's boring."

"I know I can do the mathematical stuff and I understand the algorithms blah blah blah.. but I just get bored."

"I watched this video on neural networks and I got bored."

"I can do all of that, I'm just lazy."

Translation: "I can totally be a developer and do all these complex things but I'm gonna say I'm just lazy. You can't prove that I can't do it!!! I'm a developer by heart!!! I can totally walk on water, I'm just bored and lazy."

Fuuuuck youuuuu. I'm gonna write a book about you, "How to Spot a Retard". The next time someone asks for my advice because they "really really want to be a developer", I'm just gonna be an asshole and say "just Google it". I can't count how many times I asked someone to start with the basics and they just immediately jump into some 3D game development or neural networks.

Stop wasting my time.

How to spot a half retard (aka me):
That but fully admitting they can't do it yet

@Alice Exactly! It's obvious that they are hiding the fact that they can't do it. It's so annoying because sometimes it feels like they just really talk to you so you can be an audience of their senseless bragging when they have absolutely nothing to brag about. *sigh*

@kescherRant Better than saying you can do it but haven't done it once in your life. Lol.

Btw, I can totally swim in lava but I'm too lazy to go to an active volcano or wherever the fuck I can find some.

Boring and unable is different. Boring means "I do not want to do that". Mind you being able and not want to is not better than being unable. Being able to motivate yourself is an ability too.

@rutee07 everybody can swim in lava. Once. :P

@Pickman I agree. The contradiction in saying "I really really want to do this but it's boring". My eyeballs have rolled so hard, they almost fell.

@Pickman Hahaha. At least now I have someone who believes in me. 😄

@Alice I haven't checked Discord for weeks. I'll answer it when I check it again. Sorry.

I dig it. There are some cases in which I could find opposite examples.

Try going through the first sections in algebra on Khan academy with someone that you are coaching and tell me that shit ain't boring you. It does to me precisely because I already know it and don't feel like revisiting it in 10+ minute videos.

For everything else I will agree 100% bro

@rutee07 well "I really really want that done but it is so boring" is a real thing. That's probably the real reason the position of intern was created.
