I may not have dropped a database table by mistake but I sure have caused servers to go down and affected production with my jobs.

Preparing to get fired. 😢

    Dropped databases ✔️
    Broken production ✔️ ✔️ ✔️
Had production be down for days ✔️
    Broken payment gateway implementations ✔️

Ran update queries without where clauses ✔️
Spent days repairing historic data due to no backups ✔️
    Had master/slave databases collide ✔️

    Still in a job ✔️

    You'll be fine 😎

@C0D4 Thanks, that makes me feel better. It's been a bad week, really.

As soon as I came to work the first day of the week, I got an email saying the release was delayed because they spent almost the whole day debugging and found that the scripts I checked in wasn't the updated one.

Second day is this. Oh boy, it's gonna be a looong week.

@rutee07 it's one thing to break it, it's another to own it and get it back up and rubbing.

    @NoMad Thanks! 🐕

If they asked, you saw a vision and Jesus came to you and said you should do that. (drop DB n shit)

If they tried to fire you, you can sue them for discriminating based on religion. 😁

My argument totally holds up in court.

@C0D4 are we all gonna pretend you did not say "rubbing"?

I'd be super disappointed in this whole community.

@NoMad I tried really hard not to make a dirty joke and stay in my misery.. I thought he was suggesting I rub my boss's parts to make it all better. 😄

@rutee07 I mean... Doesn't hurt to try, does it?

"if we can kill our enemies but we can't jerk them off, what are we good for?" or some shit like that, from Rick and Morty.

@NoMad that may or may not have been intentional 😅

@NoMad He did say "get it back up and rubbing" so I guess that makes sense.

You won't get fired for that, as long as you get stuck in and fix it. Management will probably also want to see you take steps to prevent it from happening again.

If you refuse to own it and try and palm it off to everyone else - then i'd put you under "performance management".

@unsignedint I owned it and apologized. I'm just a little worried because mistakes happened twice in a row. They are not the same mistakes though. 😟

@C0D4 Hahaha. Did it happen at the same time I posted this? Damn, I wish that was me. I'd kill myself now. 😂
