My best developer just accepted an offer at a corporation. Now it’s just me and the newbie with enough work flowing in to keep me busy for a year including custom app builds for freikan Disney!

I’ve never had to tackle the hiring process myself like this but I need advice for finding all around fantastic developers who can tackle whatever new thing is thrown at them.

Are you looking for remote devs?

We are not looking for remote devs but the local JavaScript meetup would be a great idea

@dUcKtYpEd Where is the position located?
  • 2
@codemonkey1870 we’re in Knoxville Tennessee. Cheapest living in the south within a city that never stops with a bustling market.

@dUcKtYpEd Knoxville is a cool place. I used to make the commute to there from Cleveland, TN everyday.

@codemonkey1870 ahh small world and not too bad a drive. The cities taken entirely off the last 5-7 years. It’s expanding like you would think it’s Nashville

@dUcKtYpEd It wasn't to bad considering I only had to go as far as Cedar Bluff and not into downtown Knox.

Cedar bluff seems to be where it’s happening. I have to go into downtown everyday now and that’s the only part I’m no huge on but as long as your not coming from out west it’s ok

@dUcKtYpEd not small enough tho, if only you were just a little further south you'd at least potentially have another newbie candidate you could consider ๐Ÿค”

Knoxville is a nice place tho, it really would be a good option for someone looking to relocate.

@M1sf3t if you ever find your way near I’m trying assemble a larger team on top of the current. I’m glad you like the city. It’s got everything to love in a city without the traffic or rudeness. That and the smoky mountains/galtinburg are 45 mins away. I was born and raised here and have never wanted to move. All my siblings have and our now making there way back. It’s just a fantastic place for peace and growing in. That and we’ve got one hell of a Codestock ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

@dUcKtYpEd yea, I've got family that lived near Rome for a while, we used to meet them up there for vacation every couple of years. The chances of me leaving mississippi for a while are pretty slim though, I'm not even sure I'm qualified to intern anywhere let alone support myself doing it.

Still, if you were closer maybe I could hang around and learn a thing or two. I don't have any expenses other than a utility bill where I'm at so I get by fixing a couple cars a week and spend most of my time studying the web.
