Learn AWS, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I want to get off this Mr. fucking DevOps ride. Ansible, Vault, Terraform, Chef, K8S, Circle CI can all go fuck themselves.

    "fun"? Clearly that was sarcasm

I have to "deploy" web app made in RoR on AWS Elastic Beanstalk by zipping the whole friggin app and upload it via form!

Well, tbh, i prefer ftp over this shit!

What is wrong with DevOps? I use Jenkins and Ansible for deploying and maintaining our apps and I want to know why you hate it.

@FlamingServers it seems to me like it's mostly a young field and as such there's a zoo of tools with overlapping features and competing best practices

@neysofu @FlamingServers not to mention the huge breadth of tools all claiming to make stuff that was already claimed to be easy, easy. The existence of those tools indicate it wasn't easy.

A lot of it is just backwards anyways. Why is unit testing being performed after being pushed to the repo? Why are developers who aren't testing before they push being tolerated? This isn't some hypothetical example, there are tons of cases of github repos with CI badges reporting failing builds/tests, often even for the master branch.

Code coverage especially is a monster to set up through the DevOps approach.

Oh and if your product is intended to work on multiple CPU architectures, glhf. That's way easier to do locally.

@neysofu @FlamingServers oh and my personal favorite: code analyzers!

Because why would you want to analyze your code locally before you push, when you can analyze it after you push, have to wait considerably longer, and then make new changes and push again, instead of just making those changes as the analyzer warned you?

I thought DevOps would be fun until I actually started doing it. I was annoyed even setting basic Travis CI up 💀
