I was asked to mentor a new joinee.
As she is new i dont mind the bad code and offer suggestions in code reviews.
She doesn't know how to use .map, .filter and lots of other basic js stuff.
Claims she has completed work on tickets when it's clearly not completed.
I end up looking like an asshole for pointing out her incomplete work before her long leave.
Find out she's actually getting paid significantly more than me as she's an 'experienced frontend dev'.

    Do PR require to have tests? Because if its incomplete tests dont pass and if tests dont pass prs are not merged. Simple as that.

    @santaclauze There are tests, they do pass, but sadly that doesn't always mean the code quality is good

    @santaclauze yup when it comes to my point of incomplete features you are right. Idk why i thought it was a response to the point that she lacked basic js skills, my bad

    @Santaclauze it is if unit testing is not possible like style changes. Or if unit testing is not allowed because of time.

    @Codex404 i guess im lucky we create code for the actual company not for clients. Our vp is pretty amazing and management are hand off as long as Sprint is on pace and demos show improvements.

    @Santaclauze my current project is also for the company, but we have set deadlines because all current contracts of potential customers have expired this year. We have to get the companies to buy the software service now, the next chance would be in 6 years.
    We just started with this system so we currently lack some features compared to competitors.

    You know what you should do? Go to your boss and demand a raise. You now got a good argument, as they are willing to pay her that much, while you have more knowledge. If they don't agree, start looking for a new job and now you know what to ask for salary wise.
