New GNOME lockscreen which may or may not get merged into 3.36 looks sick AF. Like really fucking good.

    We should make a drinking game, where we must guess if the rant is from you or not.

    @metamourge Go for it. You wont get that drunk since my rants are unique i guess.

    They are redoing the lock screen?
    I thought they were just redoing gdm3's login screen?

    @lxmcf We are not there yet.

    @Haxk20 damn!

    Keen for that upgrade, might get me to drop pantheon (probably not)

    @lxmcf By that i mean the gdm redo isnt even started publicly yet. But yeah its in works and it looks sick AF too.

    @Haxk20 I thought they started it already?

    Must be 12 months at least away in that case, gnome has been in desperate need of some visual flare.

    Also any links to what the new lock screen looks like? Didn't realise it was getting a touch up

    @lxmcf One guy did an awesome video on it.

    kde already has an awesome blur feature plus many other cool features,
    so I left using gnome long back :p

    @ishank-dev Did somebody ask something about that over complicated slow DE ? That you have blur doesnt mean you have usability.

    @kescherRant No but there is a video i sent in comment above. Take a look at that.

    @Haxk20 And here I thought you were using dwm or something "light" at least.

    @C0D4 I guess we'll really have an "Ubuntu guy" soon

    @Jilano
    Nope, he uses arch with Gnome, so
    Glibc + systemd + Gnome + all the shit either of these pull in.
  • 1
    @Jilano I have i3 setup as backup

    It probably depends on even more systemd modules in order to perform the exact same function but look different and “sick af” smh engineers are fucking retarded kill me
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins Actually no it doesnt.

    Take a look at the code. Its wide open. I did and no new systemd modules or even more dependencies.

    @Haxk20 I’m being facetious, and my above statement is sarcasm. Gnome is basically >50% responsible for systemd’s violent takeover of >95% of the Linux exosystem, and therefore I have 0 respect for the gnome developers.
