And my server just arrived (Christmas present for myself)
And well first of all i would guess it would be louder but actually pretty quiet. I mean you can hear it but its not loud.
I mean you can probably guess what OS it is going to run since its me. (Yeah Arch) and will be used mainly for compiling.
Space is a little issue but i can figure that one out surely.
I dont have any drives for it yet (Still waiting for SSD to arrive) and one nice feature is internal SD card that you can actually boot from. Never saw this before but its nice to have. Arch fits just fine. Doing memtest now to see if memory is all fine since i got SQUASHFS errors when i tried to wipe the SD card inside arch.
Well wish me luck.

I think I'm running Antergos (no gui) on my server still... Haven't updated that in quite a while...

@olback Antergos is dead now. You should really just install arch. Or EndovuerOS or how its called.

Nice. My server will arrive later this week. I'm a bit torn between FreeBSD and Arch as I also want to use it as a NAS.
Mainly because of zfs (yes I know zfs is also available on arch but I'd like to have first class support for that)

@Haxk20 yeah I know it's dead. That's why I switched from Antergos to Arch on my Dev machines. I don't actually really use the server so I never gave enough f's to do anything about it. I'll hopefully get some time now during the holidays though.

@Haxk20 there is also anarchy Linux which is a new installer for arch.

@fuckwit Installers for arch. HORRIBLE person would do that

@Haxk20 By the way, since you like things that run well, have you tried Artix? It's Arch Linux but without systemd.

@Jilano You may hate me for this but i dont mind systemd.
  • 1
@Haxk20 yes I agree. But some times it's nice to have a fast install for a throwaway vm.

    @fuckwit Fair enough.

    Well that feels nice.

    Woooow jeez the compression

What the actual fuck ? Took 20 minutes to compile full kernel on USB2 system. Yeahhhhh i had to run my system on USB3 but USB2 connector only so yeah. Imagine that on SSD. Holy fucking this thing is FAST.

@Haxk20 It's okay, I thought you started "turning" when you called yourself "Ubuntu guy" ;)

Anyway, I don't hate systemd either, but I do find runit better.

@Jilano Where the fuck did i say Ubuntu guy ? I couldnt sleep after i would say that. Jeez. Nightmares.

@Haxk20 I don't remember exactly, but @C0D4 was there. I remember we were quite shocked afterwards and we had to have a beer.

@Jilano hold up... that rings a bell.

@Haxk20 ๐Ÿค”and I'm just suppose to believe you?
