I need to vent. Scala backend dev here. Earlier this year my company switched to Java/Spring Boot for hiring reasons. A have a strong (tbh mostly irrational) aversion about going back to write Java code (I know it became way better with the recent versions, but maybe I’m just still traumatized by Java 7). On the other hand, I feel like that there are less and less open Scala positions, so trying to stick to it might be a career suicide at some point...

Anyone went through a similar situation? Is it unprofessional being biased towards your language of choice?

What does this say about your company? They don't want the best people for the job, they want cheap replaceable devs.
