    I don't know your situation but if you're using a hybrid graphics laptop and linux, you can even use your gpu to empty the trash bin.

    I’m guessing it’s gobbling pci express bandwidth talking to your storage controllers and that increases the latency to video memory and configuration registers for your graphics card. I would be very surprised if it was running something on a shader core.

    You should use reTar, it does not use the cpu at all!
