There are numerous horror stories about Windows updates, but Mac updates aren't better. Yesterday I updated to Catalina (reluctantly), and when the computer restarted I was silently praying "Please don't fuck up my VMs".
Naturally, it fucked up VMware...

@d4rckh I upgraded to Fusion 11.5 and at least I don't see a black screen anymore. But I am mentally preparing for more surprises.....

you have to give apple updates a week or two to be vetted by other users before you install them on anything important. Been that way since the iphone 6 came out, maybe a little before.

@M1sf3t Catalina is out since 2019....I only updated because I started having issues with Mojave

@NickyBones oh I meant give incremental updates a week. Of course if your doing a fresh install then you'd still want to see when the last one was.

@M1sf3t They have elevated security in Catalina, so other than using very hardcore and nasty hacks, the only solution was to upgrade to "Catalina-ready" version of VMware.

@NickyBones Yes im on mojave, and been holding off upgrading as I have some software that barely works on Mojave but I occasionally need. Mail gives me the occasional problem. I tend to find that a weekly restart generally keeps things functioning well.
