Apple has failed.
The ecosystem is fine but the hardware sucks.
Change my mind.

I'm sitting here typing this on my iPhone with one hand, and building an app on my Pixel 3 XL with my other.

that in its self should tell you where I sit on this fence.

iOS is a lot nicer to user over android for day-to-day, however Android is much nicer to work with from a dev perspective, and doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to do so.

Hardware wise, Eh, same shit different body.

Why would I change your mind.

    Eh, dunno
iPad Pro, MacBook Pro 16, and iPhone are genuinely great devices.

They may have failed from a technical standpoint, but on their current course they will take many years to fail financially. Their high-paying customers in the world's richest economies are only slightly put off by the recent slide into shittiness-- or are not put off at all. They still trade very heavily on the illusion that their products are premium and exclusive-- and not simply mainstream. Their customers, and many potential customers, see competing products as, "less than," because of the marketing and image. That will take a long time and a lot of technical failure to dispel.

The keyboard sucks. The touchbar sucks. Everything else is generally fine. It's mostly the same shit as everyone else has.

I respond to change my mind with, defend your position.

I don't find the ecosystem to be very well. It is basically a bunch of cloud services which, if you store data in them, will force you to buy an Apple product every time you will have to change phone, laptop or other...

Beside this, you have a shitload of cloud services that offer compatibility with all OS and devices...

@just8littleBit well see, now, that IS unique. Most people I know (including myself) are pretty meh about the hardware, but enjoy the software.

@just8littleBit I'm with you on this one.

@C0D4 But nicer to use is subjective. I know quite some people who choose android over iOS for ease of use (including me, I don't use it for devving)

@RememberMe how is MP16 holding up for you , I really wanna upgrade from my MP13-2016 that came with idiotic butterfly switches

@hardfault I don't use one (I use ThinkPads, as good as the MBP16's keyboard is, it doesn't even come close to my T420 and even my T480), but the four folks I know who have one love it. Brilliant screen, brilliant speakers, decent battery, great performance, good keyboard. One friend in particular uses it for video production with AE and Premiere and some 2D stuff with Photoshop, apparently it's been chugging along just fine with all that. Another one runs hardware/physics simulators and stuff on it, also seems to work just fine, though this one does heat up (it's the i9).

It's a fairly substantial machine though, if you want great portability or something you can just toss into your bag and whip out later, look for something else.
