Dockerized mongodb or MongoDB Atlas?
Pros and cons of each.

DevOps hire said kubernetes sucks at scaling Dockerized mongodb. And there's a chance to lose data.

Dockerized mongodb would be faster and cheaper. But I don't wana risk losing data, if that's true.

If you configure syncs to disk at regular intervals, you're at no greater risk using docker than anything else.

This really depends... dockerized mongodb is basically self hosting with extra steps. You will likely be spending more time configuring and optimizing the resources for your db then you’d want to. Which in the long run will cost man hours. If your company can afford having a sys Admin deal with this, then go ahead. Otherwise, I’d recommend for atlas or aws or whatever solution deals with scaling/maintaining/securing/monitoring your db for you.
