These fucking movie sites. Why are they loaded with popups?

Every fucking time I try watching a movie online I get like 917349 popups. Search something, popup. Click open, popup. Click play, popup. Click maximize, popup. Click pause, popup. Click resume, popup.

Those guys are more desperate than a village of malnourished somalis chasing a 350lbs american journalist.

    I hate it as well, but I guess it's the price we pay for free shit

    Until I added ublock origin to firefox mobile :)

    Illegal websites tend not to care too much about their viewers, and I don't think that's going to change. By the way, what adblocker are you using? It should be more than capable of blocking such unwanted content.

    Regarding your last sentence, I don't think an obese American could run at all, and his little scouter won't work well on anything that's not a road, so he'll be dead before you can say "USA numba oneee". Now the big question is, would you eat such "thing"? I know I wouldn't. Better make a soup with rocks

    uBlock Origin, my guy!

    @Jilano I'm using the adblock plus chrome extension

    @molaram Fuck AdBlock Plus. Please switch to something that actually helps. uBlock Origin (not normal uBlock, that one went downhill a long time ago) for instance. Popups are blocked well with it.

    @kescherRant playing with it now, I can see it has much better success at blocking all the crap

    Thank you very much mate

    Or...you know, pay for a legitimate service? Both making and delivering movies is expensive, it's no wonder they're "desperate".

    This rant is a bit like "hey I got some guy from a third world country to do my new $$$ startup website for free...why is the site so bad?"
  • 1
    @molaram Yup, second @kescherRant's suggestions!

    Even if the extension works well by default, you can also add other lists very easily.

    Look at this entitled freeloader.

    I see people still watch things on the free movie sites... well if you can handle the shit quality and endless ads, rather then just torrent it or pay Netflix
  • 2
    @RememberMe @aviophile better ask or at least wait before judging.

    I tend to pay for shit pretty much like the next guy and I have netflix too however some movies I like either can't be found anywhere or you can buy "rare copies" for $9183491 because the whole fucking internet is crammed up to capacity with GoT, tits, asses, explosions and what the fuck not, basically everything most people watch nowadays. Also I like downloading old movies so over the last 20 years I gathered about 4Tb of movies most of which you can't find anywhere even if they're public domain by now.
  • 2
    @molaram If they’re public domain, start your own service. 🙂

    @Root I've actually been thinking of doing a webtorrent streaming video site for a while, just haven't found the time yet, besides I don't think it will even pay for itself because people don't watch old movies they just like whatever crap gets puked out of hollywood these days.

    @molaram
    Xdcc bot on IRC. Make them earn it.

    @molaram ah, fair enough, that's legit. I just get triggered really easily about folks complaining about the UX on illegal sites usually.

    This uBlock Origin thing blocks a lot of unwanted garbage but is slowing down my browser, some pages take like 10s to first render :((
  • 1
    @molaram Are you sure that uBlock Origin is the cause? I'm asking because usually shit renders faster when ads are blocked.
  • 0
    @kescherRant ya I turned it off and switched back to adblock, all is instant now. had to do it because google searches were taking 10-15 secs this morn :(

    probably need to fiddle with settings to get it to work right
