Forget Rust, Javascript is a memory safe language. It got used in SpaceX Mission.

    ", for the UI"

Don't confuse things, I don't think they will ever use javascript for the navigation computers on their rockets. Provably for the UI, using it as a frontend. But for the whole system is almost impossible, javascript is too slow for what is required on those rockets. C++ and C are way superior languages for that stuff, everything is designed to meet certain needs. I don't think Javascript was intended for autonomous navigation systems.
It's like trying to use C as a replacement for HTML or something related. Using C as a replacement of HTML would be dumb and inefficient because C was not intended to be used like that.

@SortOfTested You can't expect people to read articles in full and not just get the part that suits them

The day I left a previous client who was deeply in bed with Infosys and IBM, they jumped on a system I'd written in spring and immediately launched an effort to replace it with node so they could bill more hours and people, and shift the workload to their cloud products. It exploded from 4 EC2 M5.large instances to 40 equivalents in IBM bluemix, redundant across 2 HA zones, and never actually managed to handle the same load. All said and done the effort was in the realm of $50M worth of rearranged deckchairs before it was declared dead and led to another $200M rewrite from pariveda a year later.

The original service only cost $500k, and the annual operating costs were < $30k.

Well in the macro, it's fucked because wall street gambles with our money+leveraged assets from the Fed and any losses they incur roll back into our cost of living.

This is just the long tail of that.

The punchline is "ford head bolts." The only reason ford dodged the bullet is they broke with the UAW harder, and faster. Can't say that was a bad move.

Mostly my comment surrounding ford head bolts. Super long, super thin, and you always break at least one.

I don't touch pre-efi windsor. You couldn't pay me. Though anymore you probably couldn't pay me to do anything with cars. Latest husband isn't really car-capable at all. Thankfully he has other virtues.

@SortOfTested Well when you pay peanuts, they get donuts. They pay peanuts for Indians at Infosys.
