Phd candidates working on robotics and computer vision?
I think about continuing to PhD and I would like to hear from students about recommended labs, and what PhD life is like :)

@RustyCookie I am working (or rather the senior researchers in my group) on 2 papers based on my thesis work. I returned to uni for M.Sc after 4-5 years in the industry, so I am already a bit old...
I am afraid if I get an industry job now, there will be no going back. And yes, I am looking for funded positions (in SLAM also).

I worked in a computer vision lab in undergrad.

It's a hot field right now. And you'll always have the option to take a lucrative job in industry if ever you don't like the PhD grind.

    Go for it

@justamuslimguy Do you have labs you would recommend?

Th@NickyBones top tier as you'd expect are MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon. etc.

If you want an idea of the computer vision field, it's biggest conference (for USA) is CVPR. Go to the previous years conference pages, and trace the award winners and award winning papers back to their universities and you'll get a good idea of which ones constantly churn out quality research.
