Dear Microsoft please just rollback wsl 2. All people who need wsl do not want to debug a network connection their entire day only to find out that wsl 1 network connection works fine. After fixing the bugs release wsl 2 again. This is not a rant

    Thank you for beta testing their products. I can't wait to try it in a year

    (What else did they break?)

    If you need wsl, just use Linux. WSL will always sabotage your Linux workflows.

    @SortOfTested Though sometimes Window is actually necessary. Like if you're using Fusion360, or even Unity, which is not quite there yet when it comes to Linux support.

    You should still test the instance against real Linux. WSL is and always will be a snowflake designed to support the azure workflows.

    @Jilano I dont know if this is what you would consider broken but systemctl command wont work you need to use service to start services. Also some bad stuff about it they are not on kernel 5.x on ubuntu. There arent that many distros. You have ubuntu debian kali linux opensuse and a fedora remix

    Also something bit inconvenient but I wanted to add you need to install docker desktop on windows with the wsl2 backend included int the docker desktop installer and then install docker on your distro and then integrate docker desktop with your wsl distro allowing docker. Also for some reason beofre installing nvidia docker my internet worked on wsl and after that installed the image and came to know I needed docker desktop my internet stops working after the image is installed from docker. I remove docker and ubuntu and reinstall ubuntu and kaboom internet stops on wsl.

    I don’t think Microsoft reads devrant.

    @jesustricks I don't think Microsoft reads any feedback.

    @Jilano should be asking, what's still working?

    @ReverendLovejoy you’re missing my point

    @F1973 As for what is working apt git which I have tested on wsl 1 docker with docker desktop set up for wsl 2 and docker for some reason internet stopped working after pulling a nvidia docker image. Also I have not tested ssh.

    @jesustricks I don't think he is. Even if he were to voice his concerns on the GitHub page for the wsl project or any other Microsoft open forums they would just completely disregard it

    @F1973 I'd say cmd.exe they haven't really touched it in a while (as opposed to Powershell) so who knows!

    Strongly disagree. Otherwise I wouldn't have docker on my windows home pc. I mean I could've run a vm or something but that's a whole thing. And yes I know wsl 2 is a vm.

    imo their mistake was not doing wsl 2 in the first place. wsl 1 was this jank fest where it was sorta linux but not quite. Some of the cooler stuff just randomly didn't work. But now they've decided to just be linux instead of emulating most of it

    @ScriptCoded you actually don't need Windows for Unity3D. There is a thing called UnityEditor. And it works exactly like the Windows Version. I used it for around a year on Ubuntu, because i had a Project for University on Unity.

    @thebiochemic Unity3D exists for Linux, it's just not optimal. Could you perhaps link to UnityEditor? I can't seem to find it

    looks like they now want to officially support it. They had an experimental version for years, that already worked surprisingly good actually.
