This just happened.

The future employer setup a call with me to discuss some visa issues we were facing.

It was a kickass offer with great work, exceptional pay, amazing people, promotion and all.

But after waiting for 6 months, they said COVID-19 things are indefinite and so they will cancel the offer for now.

I ended up crying on the video call. lol

I am back to zero guys and continue this crappy job that I have.

That sucks. You can cry on my shoulder, I promise I wouldn't touch you.

Good luck on the search, man.

@rutee07 Thanks bro. Going back to job market will be tough but will have to do it.

How sad! Hope you find something new soon.

@Benutzername Yes. This too shall pass and after rain there is shine. Trying to keep myself together.
  • 3
Oooof. Bad move on their side
  • 4
@uyouthe Yes, they mentioned it was unfair for me and they will still consider me again when things resume and if they have an opening for me without interview.

@F1973 🍨 ice cream for the crying. Chin up. You'll get a better one. :)

Which country if you don't mind telling ? @F1973

    Well... Fuck COVID19
  • 3
@iamai Thanks :) I am going to get my favourite snack.

I failed in last round of an amazing startup and I wondered why and someone said better things will offer.

Then I landed interview with MS in my country and failed and someone said the same thing.

Then I got this offer and I realised yes, good things do happen after waiting.

But what now... is waiting is everything for good things to happen?

I am being hopefully. Couldn't go lower than this.

    @SoldierOfCode Yes. Fuck the virus.

@F1973 we don't always get things on the first try. The trick is just not to give up 😉
  • 4
@F1973 Shit man. That is so unfortunate and extremely bad on their part.

But hey, everything happens for a reason. Something better awaits I'm sure.
  • 2
@iamai I have had countless tries.

@-red been hearing this for a long while. Not sure what the reason is.
  • 4
@F1973 and our code also work after several tries but we don't stop until it works :)
  • 3
@iamai I needed that. Thank you. I'll try again.
  • 3
@F1973 good luck and hope you find one soon!

@iamai yes. I have some international as well local interviews scheduled. I saw this coming but still hurt me.

@heyheni hey bro!! Thanks a ton. I'll look into this and try. Thing is, visa issue will be everywhere.

Though I have a round scheduled with Trivago for Dusseldorf on Monday. Hopefully that goes through.

@F1973 I had full support from the company amd it happened before pandemic.

You have many options now. You can start freelancing and explore the world of contract based working, you can start your own product and make ur own team of awesome developers or you can apply for job seeking visa and apply in multiple places and hope for the best.

Whatever you do, may the force be with you 💪

Bad move on company’s part. 3 of my friends switched jobs during pandemic one off-shore they all had an online on-boarding. What kind of software engineering they are doing that cannot be done online.
  • 2
    @oztek thanks.

@hardfault their stupid argument was for the level of seniority and the newness of the team they want me to be in person and cannot be done remotely.

I asked them why they forced me for remote option multiple times to which they had no answer.

Feels like a shit move from their part.

@F1973 isn't the tax rate in india crazy high if you earn something over $1500 a month? What is your plan with a 6000+ euros a month salery if you stay in Mumbai? Living like a King? 😄

I'd try to buy as much of the real estate next to the new to be opened mumbai metro station 💰💰💰

    Damn man
  • 2
Bad luck. Keep trying, it is just going to be a matter of time
  • 4
@heyheni I used to think the same. Tax in India is pretty low as compared to other developed countries. What sucks is we don't get the benefits of the tax we pay.

So if I pay 30% in Switzerland then I'll get free healthcare, world class roads and public transportation infrastructure and many other benefits.

All that is lost. So then even 20% seems high (kinda of waste)

6000+ euros in Mumbai?? Whoa!! Who's gonna pay me that much? Yes, ofc having a better house would be the first thing I'll look at and then go for investments but definitely not next to a metro station. You need to do better research :P

    Oh damn!
I hope you'll get an offer from a company that sticks to their words.
  • 3
@Berkmann18 Yeah man. In talks with few now. Let's see :)

@F1973 Best of luck then 😄!
