I have reached a new milestone in the "Now I've seen everything..." chapter of my career. And that's because today I discovered that Italy has managed to bring it's gloriously shitty bureaucracy to the 21st century, with a twist...

Yes my friends, what you see in the image literally means that you can only use the Ministry of Internal Affairs' web site from Monday to Friday between 7 and 20......... I'll let that sink in...

WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!?!? WHO THOUGHT OF THIS??? WHY???

I think I’ve never had a harder time than when trying to renew my Italian passport outside Italy.

Italian bureaucracy is the absolute worst, specially trying to make an appointment on these 90s like websites.

@eptsousa this is a whole new level though... Being hard because the website is shit is one thing... Being impossible because the website is artificially "closed" in specific time periods is absolute dog shit...

Can you imagine that this website has more reasonable working hours than some actual human workers! 😅

@vigidis agree that’s fucked up even for them lmao

I like how they added a black guy in their stock image in top right corner.

There's probably a system, where you click some link on the page, the request goes to some guy in the basement, he has to manually copy the webpage to the server from a 3.5" disk (or maybe even 5 1/4" floppy?) and then link that file into html code.

Or actually there's probably two guys. One comes at 7AM and works for 7 hours, then they switch and the other guy works to 8PM. Both have 1 hour lunch (server down notification) and 15min brakes every hour.

They get extra pay when working at even day numbers. EU pays 50% of the salary.

You are right, thats completely ridiculous! lol

On the upside, they don't need to pay admins to be on call during the night if the website is inactive anyway.
