I found that being a (good) software engineer and a girl is such an effective way to piss off a lot of people. I could never pass on an opportunity like that.

Never pass an opportunity to piss people off by your existence
  • 17
@F1973 Yes yes yes. I mainly pursued a M.Sc because my former (asshole) TL told me "You are not cut out for academia". Talk to my 9.8/10 GPA you fucking cockroach!!!!!
I am exceptionally oppositional and defiant. Can't help it :)

    We’re shockingly similar

Some people desperately need pissing off, never miss an opportunity to piss such people off!

@F1973 really? I'd say that more than half of the IT discussions are around trolling/pissing off people.

    PHP is shit! Fuck you!
React is the best thing ever! It can even cure cancer so kill yourself!!
If you don't scrum you are a human waste who should die!

For some reason, we are.really dogmatic and troll...

    Indeed

I'm continuously shocked and saddened that so many people still think this way. Best of luck in your career, whatever you choose I'm sure you'll do exceptionally well.

@NickyBones seems like he knew exactly how to sell you more schooling

@AlgoRythm I asked him to leave early once a week to take some advanced courses in uni, not even as a degree, and he denied my request.
He preferred to keep me as a code hamster.
However, he did approve a guy on my team to work 1 day from home, in which he also attended uni courses....

@uyouthe I came here expecting this post to be yours... LOL.

Just want to say as an old ass dev I'm proud of all you ladies and I hope my daughter goes into dev as well.

@NickyBones I was told the same thing and am now starting my MSc in CS. I might go back to being a code hamster later but at least I'll gain some more knowledge and maybe do an interesting thesis project.

    @mxpil I am going to write a children's book "A Hamster with a Master" one day :)

You should sell it in Europe too..
A lot of people will recognize themselves

    Another feminist

@truelion07 Are you seriously man bitching about a woman exercising her independence? She is using her negative inputs in life as fuel to succeed.
  • 1
@Demolishun Bless the troll for proving my point :)

@NickyBones I can understand the teacher part but I'm really curious how would you piss off others? Need some tips, I don't have same motive as you but I could never pass an opportunity to piss someone off.

@Aitkotw Just doing my job is enough to piss off some old-fashioned people, and if I do my job well - they are even angrier. Don't apologize or hide yourself when people try to make you feel that you shouldn't be there. I like to do the opposite - I make myself extremely noticeable. I can come to work dressed like I am going to Milan fashion week.
I am also opinionated (in the areas I actually know), and I participate in discussions - conservatives find it very offensive that I dare to be more than decoration :)

@NickyBones so basically be yourself with extra steps...xD

As long as you're a good engineer I don't care how jiggly your tits are, man or woman. People who get pissed off at female coders just for being female are great sources of free entertainment.

    Own that shit.

@NickyBones I thought this kind of people has become extinct. 🤦
  • 2
@Safari No, unfortunately they are the kind to reproduce excessively.

    @NickyBones

"conservatives find it very offensive that I dare to be more than decoration"

Do not lump all conservatives in this category. Some of us are not actually fucked up.
  • 1
@Demolishun I didn't mean political conservatives, but the "women belong in the kitchen" type conservatives.
  • 1
@NickyBones covid is helping with those
  • 0
@Demolishun Partly, but not enough. This sort of views on women is prevalent among religious people, and there seems to be more and more of them....
  • 0
@NickyBones Maybe backwards ass group. Are you seeing this in younger age groups?
  • 0
@Demolishun Yes, and they somehow get more extreme rather than find a balance between belief and modern life.
  • 0
@NickyBones Is this in the "south"? Some fundamentalists have fucked up ideas.
  • 0
@Demolishun It's in Israel, with Orthodox Jews. Even not so orthodox, now that I think of it.
  • 0
@NickyBones Ah, well that is a different mindset altogether. I don't know many Jewish people.
  • 1
@Demolishun Jewish people are an extremely wide and diverse spectrum. I am (half) Jewish, spent many years in Israel and I sometime ask myself how TF are we the same people 😂
  • 1
@NickyBones I run into that with siblings. So yeah.
