Microsoft Word is a fucking trash product.

1. When using Macro enabled templates for more than 45 minutes, my i5 SSD starts lagging to 3rd century.

2. A single alignment or format change nukes the entire document at once. One has to manually rearrange everything. After some changes, it still does not pick up automatically and the cycle repeats.

3. What annoys me, is that the disastrous changes are picked automatically even if the default is set the something else.

4. One cannot change the default format of a document. JUST WHYYYYY????? Everytime I open a new document, I have to go through a ritualistic process to setup my desired layout and structure.

I just hate how Microsoft has great products but fuck ups completely on details. Over the years, there's very little that changed in this product.

My day-to-day business runs on MS Word and I am so pissed at this garbage.

So true. Now I have to switch to using google docs just cause it doesn’t make my computer go back to 1980.

You actually can change default format.

And "disastrous" changes happen when someone uses styling wrong. It's like using an inline "style" in HTML instead of proper classes and CSS.

@iiii please guide on how can I change the default styling?

IIRC, only a couple of components are configurable and not all.

Imagine making a standard for your product, not using the standard because it's too limited, extending it for yourself, then not using the new extended standard because it's too limited.

Microsoft: "what's a standard is that a kind of pie?"

What version of word are you using

Do you use styles properly? There are alternatives like LaTex and markdown that may fit your needs better.

Now I read the post again and you mentioned macro enabled templates. I would expect pain.

@Sony-wf-1000xm3 lol you cannot tell a FAANG to change a software which more than 100,000 people use across the globe.

@F1973 when you change a style there's an option to "apply it to all documents based on this template" which essentially modifies the style for all future uses.

Alternatively you can always create a template document which you would copy to retain all set up styles and rules. Or create your own document template if you feel fancy.

@F1973 here, some link with an example:

@iiii I have tried that and didn't quite work. I'll give it one more try.
