College admissions are looking bad rn (because yay for pandemic). Do I need a computer engineering degree for a regular dev job, or is IT enough?

You're probably looking for computer science or software engineering, although I'm not sure if that will change depending on where you live.

You've the luck of living in one of the richest countries in the world with only 5,3 million inhabitants. So until September the whole population of Norway will be vaxinated and you'll be able to study normally. Besides the world economy is going to be pretty shitty for the next 3-4 years. So going to University isn't that bad of idea in this situation. lykke til!

@heyheni The problem isn't the virus, it's that the admission system is based on grades, age and gender. My grades are reaching the bottom now since I was one of the few students in homeschool. I need to get somewhere where they accept students with shit grades like mine

@guitargirl15 Yeah it's a bit different in my country. Computer science doesn't exist at all. I'm unsure about software engineering but I don't think it exists

did you look in Sweden and Denmark too? As norwegian you can live, study and work in other scandinavian countries with the same rights as home.

@heyheni I looked at Sweden and it didn't seem any better. I was a bit confused about Denmark but it seems like I could have issues getting financial aid there

In doubt, check the syllabus to see what is taught, and then check what employers demand.
