Fuck...

One of our HR is having strong objection to use word Manager.

Reason: It's having MAN in the word, it's so non inclusive. We are being gender based here...

The fuck head wants to call all female managers as WOMANAGER...

Fuck my life... I fucking want him to go ahead and change the name of Mango (fruit) to Womango...

Fuck man...fuck

Ah yes let me just speak to my Chinese colleagues in Womandarin
  • 26
Not gonna lie. Womania might be more accurate than mania...
  • 32
WTF!!! How the FUCK do these retards put on their damn clothes without hurting themselves???
  • 42
Don't believe it, but just in case.

Tell her that "manager" is derived from the Latin words of manus(hand) and agere(to act).

It's literally Latin for "the hand that acts".

In Latin, words have gender identity like in Spanish. The words manus IS female.

Couldn't get easier of an argument if you tried.
  • 29
We should also ban the word “woman” bc that contains “man”.
  • 3
If this dumb idea “passes”, what will male managers be called then?
  • 4
  • 54
My employer wants us to use “womxn” instead because it doesn’t include “man” or “men” …

They only hire “diverse” candidates, which is a thin euphemism for “non-white” (and lgbtqia++ is of course a giant plus. As is hiring candidates from “less fortunate” countries.)

Every member of the company must serve on the “diversity council” at some point. (Unwritten rule, but if you refuse you’re clearly violating some of the core values, so you’re not a culture fit.)

Also the term “master” is racist, as is “white/blacklist” yet “red and yellow servers” are not.

More politically: Trump supporters are all racists, violent, uneducated rednecks, and criminals too. Riots are peaceful protests, same with “the peaceful removal of statues.” Republicans defending their houses/buildings/churches (or those statues) are all violent white supremacists.

If you’re white and in a conversation with someone non-white, and there’s a language barrier, it is your responsibility to change your wording and mannerisms and idioms, not the other person’s. It is your fault if there is a language barrier, not the “diverse” person’s.

But if you’re white, you also cannot use their culture or mannerisms or idioms because that’s offensive and cultural appropriation.

Similarly: if there is a dispute, HR and management (especially exec management) will invariably favor the non-white employee and accuse you of not being respectful or trying hard enough to be inclusive. Bitch pushes you under the bus repeatedly? That’s her culture; respect it.

    Woke culture. 🤮
  • 3
He's another moron that thinks calling someone by their gender is going to increase inclusion. He didn't hear about "Mx." (mixter)???
  • 11
Wouldn’t a smarter strategy be to simply label managers as “supervisors” then? It’s an actual word that fits the position and it doesn’t contain anything that relates to gender
  • 18
@TeachMeCode that would imply they are super, now I'm fucking offended!
  • 21
@Root holy shit! Sounds toxic as fuck.

I work in a place where everyone is a piece of shit, equally.
  • 1
    Managerin?
  • 7
@Root why are you still there
  • 11
ask them if HR stands for huwoman resources.
  • 8
    bahahahahahha, leftist retardation
  • 6
@sariel "Etymologist DESTROYS sjw with FACTS and LOGIC"
  • 7
    Amen and awomen.
  • 8
I take it you’re in the US? What do they do about gender based languages? I’m sure when I learnt french at school everything was either male or female.
  • 2
@UnicornPoo French has its "faults" too. There's still the general third person "on" instead of "il/elle" (to my understanding it kind of corresponds to singular "they" in English) and the clamping together to masculine when using plurals.
  • 6
@Root what the actual fuck! People just want to feel good about themselves for being woke. This is racism.
  • 8
@TeachMeCode "Supervisor" contains the word "super" and we don't want to give our employees the impression that they can fly and stuff

    🤣
  • 6
    @sariel Employees are "feces"
    Supervisors are "manure"
    Execs are "fertilizer"
  • 9
    Fuck that noise

Pretty soon we gonna be back at talking through smoke signals and fucking unga bunga language

    Fuck all of them
  • 4
@Root something similar to this in the company I work for. This shit always happen in US based companies.

They pay well but it scares me a bit and nobody cares or know if I do my job well.
  • 5
@UnicornPoo yeah french (I am french) is heavily criticised to favor male nouns as per its legacy and sometimes by having arbitrary rules, but then again some people understand there are far more important things to do than to change the language... like actually helping out minorities, improving their lives and offering them real equality of chances. We are not even close.
  • 13
    is this womandatory?
  • 2
@UnicornPoo same in Russian and German: all nouns are either male, female or neutral.
  • 7
Fun fact: 𝘮𝘢𝘯 used to refer to both females and males. The specific word for females was already 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯, but the word for males was 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯 (like werewolf).
  • 1
    @Root Are you from USA?
  • 1
  • 1
  • 5
I have a new suggestion: managers should be called “manmasters” and employees should be called “slaves”
  • 1
  • 6
@Root I am non-white and come from a less fortunate country, so when do I sign my contract?
  • 13
These countries are renamed in English from now on:
    Gerwomany
    Rowomania
    Turkwomenistan
    Yewoman
    Arwomenia
    Chad is now Stacy
  • 3
@thirdworld you can skip the interviews, brotha! We’ll fly you in, give you a 300k salary with every benefit included, free training with our best dev, @Root to bring up your skills (and if you can’t learn what a promise is in JavaScript after a year, we’ll put you under a 2 year probation and have other frustrated devs struggle to teach you while you keep that bangin salary). If you write something basic like a data entry form in react within six months you’ll receive a 10 percent bonus and first dibs at the sushi bar!
  • 1
@UnicornPoo Don't make it more difficult them. They are still working on getting out of the paper bag.
  • 6
@TeachMeCode replace 'man' with 'woman' to avoid using 'man'
Wo Wo Wo Wo Wo Wo Wo Wo wo wo wo wo wo wo...
    [Stack overflow exception]
  • 3
Let's all pretend we like to shove the badger up the doughnut hole and just sue the fuck out of everybody
  • 2
You mean "Fuck woman...fuck." Your profanity is not inclusive.
  • 9
@Root The cultural appropriation pisses me off the most. People are just not allowed to live their lives anymore. I remember a white woman in a forum mentioning braids then someone else complained about how it's cultural appropriation because she's not black.

    Braids.

This is one of my biggest fears when it comes to migrating to a richer but "woker" country. There are loads of bullshit where I am but at least I'm not accused of committing such "awful crimes" when doing the most simple things.
  • 9
@rutee07 it’s racist to disallow someone to do something based on race. Disallowing a white woman to braid her hair bc she’s white is obviously racist. For the assholes who think this isn’t racist bc it goes against whites, they haven’t realized it also discriminates all the non whites who aren’t black including East Asians, Indians, and Native Americans
  • 10
@TeachMeCode Yeah, it's fucked up. It's like they finally found a way to be openly racist while accusing others of racism and making themselves look like the good guys.
  • 10
@rutee07 That’s what they do. Like, exactly.
  • 8
@rutee07 Ironically if you moved to a richer country you'd be fine on that front - since you were from a poorer country originally, those people would just assume it was part of your heritage and probably congratulate you for it.

After all, the very loud minority who think it's acceptable to call people racist because they wear braids aren't generally intelligent or knowledgeable enough to understand the cultures where they are or aren't originally worn.
  • 8
@AlmondSauce True. Seems like they don't have the means to travel or get to know other cultures as well so maybe that's also their way of preventing others from doing the same. In many countries, you are allowed to wear their traditional outfit and many locals even think it's cool and love it when a white person speaks their language, wears their outfit, eat their food, etc.

I had some friends go to Korea, Japan, etc. They come back with pictures of them wearing their traditional clothes. If those friends happen to be white, I wonder what kind of shit they're gonna get.
  • 3
    @Root

This is the shit they did a long time ago. My opinion is that it has not changed. They formed the KKK and all the other racist bullshit. JB just talked about how great some grand master of the kkk was when he died. They scam minorities with trinkets and then enslave their communities.
  • 6
    @Demolishun Hillary did, too. 😕

Yeah. It’s crazy how racist the anti-racists are, how intolerant the tolerant are, and how much they accuse everyone else of exactly what they’re doing.

Ahh but I don’t want to get into it. It’s everywhere and I do my best do avoid it.
  • 2
    That’s it, I’m quitting devrant
  • 1
@kiki because of what people are saying?
  • 2
@irene it's too depressing to read
  • 3
It's possible they have a misconception that manager is a word like postman. Where it's possible to call it "postal worker" instead.

Give them a link to some etymology wiki for the word and say "it's man like in manatee or mangrove - it's just letters not a male thing "
  • 1
    Call them womanizers instead
  • 2
    @TeachMeCode manwomanager
  • 2
@geilt that discriminates persons of age
  • 5
@electrineer just when you think we've solved this, you go and bring the ageists into the mix.

Day 5 of woma-nager, hold up I think we have it 👀

There's no "man" just nagers, which seems appropriate,
  • 2
@electrineer @C0D4 you have offended me because you used the letter A which is included in the word racist, ageist, man, woman and sexual.
  • 2
    @Root
Must be like walking a tightrope to simultaneously change your words and mannerisms to make the "diverse" person understand you without also culturally appropriating them.

I'd hate to be a "diverse" person here. I'd feel like I was given a handout for being non white instead of a job for knowing my stuff. Besides, all of this is some really condescending shit
  • 1
    @TeachMeCode
Usually, supervisors are officers that report to managers. Might cause confusions in those cases
  • 7
    @RexGalilae It really is insulting.

They hired me because I’m female as much as for my skills. The VP of engineering (my boss’s boss) even told me that to my face. It made me absolutely livid.

I don’t want to be a diversity hire. I want to be bloody respected for what I can do.
  • 2
@Root HUH??? WHAT??!!!! HE LITERALLY TOLD YOU THAT???
  • 3
    @Root
I know how you feel. In an industry riddled with impostor syndrome, the last thing you want to hear is that you were hired to fill a ridiculous quota.

This is not just sexism and racism played in reverse, but a way for neutral people to develop prejudice against "diverse" people.

Can imagine you have colleagues that look down on you thinking you were hired just for your gender. It's all self destructive
  • 3
@RexGalilae It is, and I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing it.

@TeachMeCode He absolutely did, and spun it as a good thing. He’s also pushing hard for hiring only diverse candidates. It’s sickening.
  • 1
@Root sheesh what’s worse his spaghetti code or his people skills. For most people with a brain, that’s definitely NOT a good thing! MOST people would translate that to: “if you were a white male, we would’ve rejected you”. Anyway glad you’re getting out of that snake pit
  • 2
@TeachMeCode I haven’t seen his code; he’s ostensibly a developer, but doesn’t code anymore. He builds the release branches (git jockey), makes architectural decisions (hands them off to the CTO then approves), and manages (hands that off to the middle managers). So as for code quality? Null.

As for leaving: Maybe. I want to, but I’m struggling because of mental health issues, mostly arising from this aptly-described snake pit.
  • 2
@Root then you will feel better in less shitty environment anyway
  • 0
lol, this has to be satire
  • 1
@electrineer yeah, this is still the case

In my native language (a Romance one) male and female gender are actually "unmarked" and "marked" gender, so "unmarked" is already gender-neutral and "marked" is just more specific

Also linguistic gender doesn't have much to do with *sex*, which is what people mean when talking about "gender" nowadays. This is especially illustrated in Romance languages, where most common nouns have a gender but it doesn't mean they are "male" or "female".
