Before or after they went into the Paywall to see any answers?

It always claimed to offer answers to problems with Oracle databases, but insisted on trying to extract money from you before you just check stack overflow anyway

    Expert sEx change, oooh

Sometimes I remember Experts Exchange (with a paywall, without a subscription, but always on top of Google search results, or was it still Altavista back then?) and it instantly makes me feel better about StackOverflow.

I remember they had to add a hyphen to the website domain to avoid any confusion.

It's still there. It's now called Oracle and RedHat support pages. Got to buy a subscription to access most of the support answers - they only show you a question.

@nibor Reminds me of this, I always get a kick out of it: "Bad Choices for domain names" http://webby.com/hosting/...
