My cat is powerless.

I am perfectly capable to operate my computer with my keyboard only. I am perfectly capable to operate most of it with my mouse only.

But my cat can only block one or the other.

Got two cats, though. Hope they won't team up against me.

My cats each have found ways of independently blocking both. 😅

@AmyShackles I guess it’s that famous Schrödinger‘s cat who can block both at the same time. Until you observe it.

@Lensflare Haha, not really, they’re just Maine Coon mixes, so they take up more space than the average cat 😅

    Case in point.

    And the other kitten

@AmyShackles Mine is a Main Coon, too. Well, 75 % over the last two generation at least were Main Coon. Hope she won't learn the block both trick.

But to be honest, she's cute but dumb. So very dumb. She won't learn.

@TheCommoner282 What makes cats so smart is how good they are at pretending to be dumb 😄

My cat learnt how to play and pause YouTube by pressing the space bar…

He also already knows how to use the toilet…

A couple of extra tricks and I bet he can pass a few job interviews

@rov3rand0m ask him to hire me afterwards, plz! 😜

Mine SIC (Standard Issue Cat) usually likes to come over to my room when I code, tap me on the lap and won’t leave until I give him pets.

Louis is very much not an asshole.

    see cat. upvote cat.

In any case - the trick is to use a decoy keyboard. Cat goes after decoy, then you put working keyboard on cat, then continue typing. works well with decoy laptops, and decoy mice. Also kids.

@magicMirror where do I get decoy kids?

    @TheCommoner282
Easy. Make more then one kid, and let them "play" (terrorize/run after/run away from/etc) with the cat. They will learn to use each other as decoys on thier own!
Very useful to prevent the Cat using the keyboard for its own purposes. Also gives the kids something to do while you code. As long as you use your noise canceling headphones ofc.

@magicMirror sounds simple enough. I'm going to give it a try.

Instead of kids, the cheaper option is to connect more keyboards and mice to your computer. Always have `n_cats + 1` peripherals, duh. You're playing with your job by having just 1 of each!
