And then that annoying popup says again "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
Relax dude. It never did.2 -
Was working on a Django thing (server-side, so no dynamicness as far as I'm aware?) under a contractor at my company.
Needed a popup to display results of a subprocess, so I asked "We're going to need to AJAX it, right?" and give brief justification. Guy says no - pretty much "Django 10/10 supports this, let me Google". Proceeds to send me a link to a python package that enables using popups as a way of inputting values for form fields. I see as much on the couple of images for the package demo/introduction, so I'm kind of just like "It doesn't look like it's what we need though..." But the guy says to trust him, and implement it.
A day later, after scrutinizing the demo code, and trying to figure out how to implement the package, I go back to him and say "I really really really don't think this is going to work" and give the same justification from the day before. He opens the demo code himself and follows the long trail of confusing methods and stuff.
After an hour of my sitting there watching him read the code and disappearing for 10 minute periods a few times, he comes to the conclusion "Okay you need to understand the code to implement it. But go ahead and use AJAX"
This is abridged and a few other super annoying things have been cut out, but I TRUSTED HIM.
I. TRUSTED. HIM.3 -
So I take leave for a day right.
I come back to the office and my teamlead asks me to start running tests and in the same breath he adds, "so I added SOME code so that it would cater for the annoying popup".
I said cool and made nothing of it.
A few minuts later he stands behind me asking me why its so slow and my reply was.....
"Well I wasn't in yesterday and you added code and it wasn't this slo... "
Words arnt even out of my mouth and he starts shouting at me
"DON'T SHIFT BLAME!!! Don't Shift Blame."
Well okay then sorry...... I guess.5 -
Disable Windows 10 Auto Updates
1. Run gpedit.msc
2. Set "notify for download and notify for install" according to this screenshot http://i.imgur.com/VjpeDHWh.jpg
3. You will still get an annoying popup saying "get updates" but windows will never autoinstall them and autorestart your machine.13 -
The entire fucking internet is an unusable pile of shit. Why is it that every time I click on LITERALLY ANY link on google and I start reading, 2 seconds later the text shifts to an other location because the fucking font loads, 3 seconds later it fucking moves again because a god damn ad just loaded above it, and after all the loading bullshit is done it shoves a fucking cookie banner (that usually covers half the page) and a fucking newsletter popup in my face. This makes it literally impossible to quickly read someting on a website without interruption. It's fucking 2020 and we bout to put a fucking man on mars, yet the technology still isn't advanced enough to make the internet less fucking annoying.13

Fuck off Windows Defender.
I love Windows but this defender shit is fucking annoying me with it's popup messages to enable SmartScreen. Fuck you and your piece of shit SmartScreen.7 -
I really, but really hate popup windows on web. I just came to your website and you want my email? By hiding all the content with large popup? NO WAY. And it is not less annoying when in the middle of an article the popup jumps out at me.
Good news, google is finally going to put websites with popups below others on organic search. I hope people will finally stop placing popups on their website.
Sorry for long post. -
Alright I hate these backhanded guilt trip attempts for people to sign you up for their spammy stupid email campaigns. If I don't want to subscribe don't give me a sarcastic smart ass button that I have to hit. (note the text at bottom) then again I also hate myself because this is totally the kind of shit I would do if I owned a news site...4

I always spend minute or two to delete "Hey It looks like you are using ad blocker" popup div and some overflow-hidden css class by pressing F12.
I'll do it again and again and again...
Fuck those annoying advertisements.13 -
I can't be the only one who avoids clicking a Google search result item when it's linking to Pinterest. Fuck that site.1

Fucking Android 12 everybody hate it, it's ugly, and what has changed from 11 besides everything you already know. 90% of time pressing volume down + power to take a screen shot will result with volume bar popup first then screenshot, so your screenshot is dirty with volume bar.
They must have adjusted time threshold between how fast/precise press of both buttons is, and now you kind of must be faster and alwas this "I need to press 2 buttons but power must be pressed first"
So fuck you google engineers for ruining Android in every sense. I want revert path, I'm going back to 11!!
It's a first major upgrade that is worse than previous, and those ugly tiles and notifications, cool they are big for what exactly? I still can't operate the phone with hand gloves on the motorcycle with tiny keyboard buttons.
It's like everything is tiny and then grandpa style huge top drawer icons for who knows what with so fucking annoying scrolling text, for fuck sake 11 had is just perfect!5 -
The most annoying popup I hope to not see clicking on a link.
Other cookie [de]selectors seem to have proper "reject all" mechanism. This one not only doesn't have that, it also always has an annoyingly long vendor list.
Also, if I unselect cookies, my choice is only saved for several days. After a week or two it tends to expire and the clickfest starts again
They prolly hope to overwhelm me with the number of clicks required to unselect them all. Well joke's on them, it's a matter of principle. I know where I'll spend the next 15minutes of my life now...17 -
This whole GDPR, cookie law thing is really getting annoying.. Every website you load:
A wild large popup dialog appears, reasons this and that, options this and that, click next, are you sure, yes, yes,..
The dialog itself is annoying, but it's even more annoying if it pops-up 10 seconds after you've already scrolled and are reading stuff.
Am I the only one who didn't care that I got tracked and whatnot and analytics stuffs were stored etc?2 -
Tried an ad blocker for the first time yesterday. Well what do ya know? Websites I use will not let me access them unless I turn it off. I KNEW something like this would happen. When they were first coming out a few years ago, I said to myself "If everyone is going to be blocking ads, how will we be able to go to these sites for free?"
I expected the worst. I thought they'd put free websites behind a pay wall, much like ad-free mobile applications I would make. Thank GOD that didn't happen. This system is a lot more fair in my opinion. I'm just glad they don't do the same with popup-blockers. Then we would have an issue.
In all seriousness, as annoying as some websites are with their trashy, misleading, or fake ads, they (kinda) have to be there in order for devs to make money and for consumers to be somewhat happy. That is why I personally will not use ad blockers.6 -
Please, dear god, is there a browser extension to answer all these shitty cookie/data storage/privacy popups with MY SPECIFIC ANSWER?
As a web dev I understand that websites need cookies, and as a tech company employee I understand that essential cookies as well as functional cookies are okay-ish (most of the time). I just don't want marketing cookies/tracking.
All those extensions just block the popup or block all cookies. This is not what I want!
And why the hell on earth didn't they come up with one single solution for all websites beforehand, so we dont have 6.388.164.341 different popups/bars/notifications/flyouts/drop-ins/overlays???
THIS. IS. JUST. ANNOYING.
Thank you for your attention.6 -
F-word with three consecutive U-letters! SQL Management Studio just crashed, just when I had finished a nice script, that I hadn't of course saved yet. I must say SQL Management Studio hardly ever crashes, can't even remember the last time that happened before this. Wonder if it has anything to do with the plugin SQL Complete that I installed just recently? SQL Complete also has the annoying habit of displaying a popup every time SQL Management Studio is started, with a delay just long enough so you have already got started with something when you're interrupted by that popup. No, I'm not going to upgrade a piece of software that behaves maliciously!15

I have been using Linux for a while and I get update notification about 3 times per week. I find it annoying. As soon as I plan to get some work done, I get a large notification popup saying "Hey, it's time to install le updates". I find it distracting; especially so because I use my laptop about 3 times per week; so basically EVERY TIME when I'm about to use it, it says "HEY you know what? Time for UPDATES".
Updates on Windows are annoying too; but at least they do not appear as often. I find this unacceptable and I do not know how anyone could think that distracting people from work so often is "ok". This is bad.11
