Person: I want to learn to code neural networks and cool AI stuff.
Me: Look into Python or Lua.
Person: Those are too hard, I'm going to use HTML instead.
I got out of there as fast as I could. 😅11 -
Could the Web Developers here tell me which languages other than HTML, CSS and JavaScript should I learn if I want to be a full stack developer? I also know a bit of C#, if anyone is wondering.19
-
Free time... sometimes I want to program, learn new stuff and work on personal projects, but sometimes I just want to be a couch potato and play hours and hours of video games...4
-
A business analyst turned to one dev and she asked him:
- Can you teach me programming?
- Yeah, sure. Do you have any idea which language do you want to learn?
- Nonono, I dont want to learn languages, I want to learn programming.4 -
SO: How to ... in JavaScript?
Answer: use jQuery!
SO: How to ... in JavaScript without jQuery?
Answer: use jQuery!
Me: ffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I hate j-f*cking-query, I don't want to learn it!!15 -
School: Do you want to learn programming?
Me: Yes.
School: Do you want to learn about operation systems and networks?
Me: Yeah, sounds cool.
School: Do you also want to learn basic electrophysics?
Me: But I will rarely need it if I become a SE.
School: Well too bad!8 -
My anxiety is kicking in again.
I want to build something meaningful outside of work but my mind is blank, I have no ideas to implement, and whenever one pops up in my head, I DDG it, I find that there's someone who already built something similar and I lose all interest.
I want to code, but I'm tired of solving fictional problems.
I miss being excited to learn a new tech, since I know I would ditch it if I can't find anything to build with it.
This is causing me to lose all motivation to code and learn, I really hope this is just a phase 。゚・(>﹏<)・゚。17 -
Had a PM in my programming class say "I want to understand what my team is going through, so I want to learn to code and the like, really to be a jack of all trades to better myself and my team" 👏 I respect that.2
-
When your classmates don't even know how to code HTML and CSS effectively but they want to learn how to hack...
They think hacking is about breaking into other people's computers and stuff... sigh... the people I have to deal with...13 -
I just spoke to somebody who said she has learnt jQuery and javascript is next on her list of things to learn.
It makes me want to cry.4 -
Being a sysadmin, I never write any code.
But I do want to learn that.
What is the easiest language to learn?
(I am lazy)54 -
A fucking rant to me from myself.
I want to take control of my life. I want to fucking change my life. Want to move my lazyass and want to work on myself. Want to build awesome stuff want to help others want to change something for good. Want to learn new stuffs want to learn new skills want to travel want to go see new place want to know about other countries and learn about their culture and want to tell them "we are fucking humans stop finding stupid reason to hate each other for literally any fucking small reasons. Stop fighting yes there are bad guys, really fucking bad guys who deserves to die. Then kill them and finish the matter stop fucking keep making complicated and keep involving more and more. There are little kids who keep dying and need our helps it's feel so helpless sometimes and we sitting on sofa eating popcorn and complying about government there are kids in every country who don't even fortunate enough to have basic human needs and there are people who fucking throw food over there mood. A fucking Mood. Gosh I hate people sometimes so much.
Don't know why fucking writing all this on a Devrant supposed to talk about our devshit but couldn't control more.
A introvert don't got many friends to talk this shit and most of them worrying about there Instagram followers fuck this shit .
And here I am fucking trying really hard to pass on fucking useless boring exams for fucking degree which doesn't speck about your skills or show to the world anything besides you are good at memorizing shit.6 -
Found out a senior dev threw me under the bus for a mistake I made while coding and it affected my raise. Not only was I never initially informed of the mistake, I was never told what went wrong and why it needed fixing. We also don't implement code reviews or anything of the sort. Seems like a great avenue for improvement and growth, right? 😑5

God of War comes out tomorrow.
Video Games are my passion, it's the reason I want to learn more about computers and technology. And each new major game title sparks new motivation.
What helps yall invigorated to improve?12 -
I want to do 3 things in life:
1. Learn new technologies and don't work at all just learning.
2. Play video games.
3. Eat without getting over weight.10 -
I finally realized that I need a daily timetable to be able to keep update and learn wahtever I want.
So ... Tommorow is the first day and here is my planning !
TOMMOROW I WILL ROCK !!😎4 -
I just started training 3 weeks ago,
I have to accomplish some knowledge during the training period or the company won't let me stay, when I told the coworker that is sitting beside me, he told me don't worry, as long as you want this job, we will help you learn everything in order to get what you want. -
Every time I want to learn new technology I spend whole day just installing and reinstalling and then I end up with reinstalling whole linux, because 1 lil' thing doesn't work. Am I alone?5
-
Giving up/panicking/talking myself down when shit gets difficult ;/.
I always want stuff to work immediately, and I hate it when I don't understand something.
But since this is such a big part of working in dev, I should learn to keep going!2 -
Best: I pushed myself to learn better about the field I am in and want to pursue. Also accomplished a few achievements because of my extra efforts.
Worst: It ruined my sleep cycle.
But it's all paying off. -
Oh Apple, f*ck you. I dont want to use safari.

Wanted to learn something about API in Python, so I made a little program during a boring lecture. Want to learn qt for a GUI, maybe i can combine those two things. :)2
-
Fuck my life! For my studies at University it is required that I learn how to code... Over the past month I've been learning java, and yesterday a friend of mine has introduced me to Go. Now all I want to do is learn Go, meanwhile our Prof pushes us to learn switch-case and goto...17
-
Summer is about to start.
I want to learn more over the break. I think I found the best way for me to learn. Apps. I use sololearn and Enki.
I know I'm cheap, but I dont have the money to spare on udemy.
Has anyone found any better apps though?21 -
if you want to learn about sockets I recommend reading this guide.
http://beej.us/guide/bgnet/...
is does require some prev knowledge of unix things, but easy to follow otherwise -
I freaking hate school curriculums, I have only 5 classes this semester, only two of them are career related and one is about QA, I want to focus on my code, projects, things that really matter but instead I have to do Socials homework, learn how to do research papers, learn about marketing. I really hate this. Besides the classes I have on development are extremely light. And I have to pay for this crap12

Why is Drupal so hard to learn?!!!!!!
It feels like you are learning an entirely new language. Yes it makes hard things simple, at the same time making simple things hard to accomplish.
And also modules are buggy, you would fix bugs instead of doing your tasks.
I want to learn Drupal but I guess it is not friendly for beginners like me.12 -
For the amount of things I learn from devrant & it’s community, I have to give you credit. This community has really helped me in the path of success and progression, so I want to thank you all sincerely for this :)14
-
In a forum far far away...
<user> I need help understanding something about this library.
<various users> This is how it works. This is something to consider. Here is a good way to learn all of this. etc Really helpful people.
<user> I would say more about what I want to do, but I don't want to receive any more "mouthful of unsolicited advises ".
Really? You fucking ask a question on a forum about what you want to learn. Everyone there takes it seriously and provides some really golden shit on how to learn the topic. Then you shit on them for daring to provide ways to learn the topic?
I don't know if this is a language barrier, or if they are using Google translate. I have no idea. But they come across as an asshole.6 -
Guys. I'm bored. I want a challenge in python. Don't make it too hard. I'll learn everything i need to as i go and post here the results. Thx!😆13
-
"I made a PWA, I'm a mobile app developer"
Me: No fuck off, you're a lazy cunt that doesn't want to learn native development.5 -
❤ I can be as creative as I want.
❤❤ It never gets boring.
❤❤❤ There is always something new to learn!3 -
I've been eyeing Rust for quite a while and it definitely caught my curiosity, specially after the SO survey. Now I want to learn Rust but I normally need to work on a project in order to actually learn and keep myself motivated, yet I have no idea what to start, any ideas?15
-
*Dont you want to become a professional python dev?“ Take this course on udemy.
DONT YOU WANT TO SHUT UP AND SHOW ME AT LEAST ADS THAT ARENT PISSING ME OFF THAT MUCH? I learn where else because these tutorials are the biggest bs on the planet.3 -
i’m so tired of people who are developers that go to every new popular social media platform and try to teach others to code. god fucking dammit. what could possibly going through these people’s minds? do they really think people who want to learn to code think “i want to learn to code so bad. i should scroll mindlessly through instagram/tiktok until i find someone teaching how to code”?
god, if you’d ever uploaded code to tiktok or instagram to teach others to code, you’re a fucking idiot.4 -
Yay! University break! Now I have time to learn the stuff that I want/need to learn! (Seriously, I don't know why they are pushing delphi towards us)2

Do you also sometimes have these nights in which you don't want to sleep but instead want to learn new stuff?
Right now I have one of these nights again and I have spent the last 1:20h watching a lecture by a German professor about cryptography. Man I can't wait to leave fucking highschool behind and go to university to learn stuff I am interested in.5 -
I really want to see the source code for pokemon go even though I'm 100% certain I'll be unable to understand it I just want to look at it and try to learn how it works
But I'll probably never see the source in my life :(5 -

-
This year I want to start a project that I'll be proud of, learn PHP, Java, PostgreSQL and Assembly.22
-
Nope, too young.
Though some smaller kids than me DID come and ask for advice on how to start learning and I told them that they have an entire internet to learn from, there are guides online, and everything that stands between them and success is their DESIRE to learn computer science. And if they really do want to learn CS - really stick to it along the years and try to get as much head start as they possibly can.
I learned in my limited experience in software development (for the uninitiated, I am 16, started coding at 12), that you must want to learn it DEEP DOWN, because if solving problems is not your cup of tea and you don’t like thinking big, then GTFO lol.6 -
I want to learn about node.js and fullstack javascript.
Books are too expensive.
In my library, the most recent book about javascript is of 1999.
Free resources suck and are far from a full understanding.
I give up24 -
What To Learn?
I'm a beginner in web development and have knowledge about html, css, JavaScript, jQuery, Sass, NodeJS, Express, MongoDB, Passport. You can consider me to be a beginner full stack developer, but I'm confused about what to learn further. There are so many front end frameworks that one can spend his entire life learning them. React, Vue, Angular, Backbone, etc. But I always want to learn backend properly, then there's Rails, PHP, SQL, Python. Can anyone atleast tell me what to learn and why exactly? This thing's making me mad and anxious.24 -
How do u spend your free time? These days I’m constantly torn between coding and painting. Both are my passions. And I recently started a coding blog I love writing on it, and I also want to learn meanstack in free time. But I also want to paint........ :(10

I don't need to learn it.7 -
I Just realized that during my sort conversation with my boss tonight where I said I haven't learned anything new from this job in years. That usually I bring what I learned during my own time to work. He said "didn't you learn something new investigating this issue?"
NO I DO NOT WANT TO FUCKING HAVE TO HAVE A PROD ISSUE IN ORDER TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW.... -
I'm learning python3 right now, advises or exercises to practice? I want to learn machine learning. I'm developng on elixir for now. But I hear good stuff about python.6
-
Sometimes i want to erase all my programing skills to learn it all over again, it felt great when i instructed computer to do something, rather these days i'm asked to make computer do something, first hello world was nothing but that i what i wanted to do 😊1
-
2 years ago I told myself I'd never learn PHP. 2 years later I'm a desperate college student in a town where the only web dev companies rely on PHP. I didn't want to cave and learn such an obsolete language but it's looking like I have no choice. Goodbye, innocence :'(13
-
This is going to sound stupid to some.. I recently finished sololearns JavaScript course and I loved it but I want to learn more but I have no idea where to start.. I've been browsing tutorials on YouTube but it doesn't help too much.. does anyone have any suggestions?12

Or should I just learn a new JS framework? ;)17 -
I want to learn C++. I know C#, Java and Ruby. Should I go Directly, or there is some sort of path?
How long it takes to master it? I am a quick learner, I catch things a lot faster.

Want to learn a new programming language. My main language is JavaScript and I spent most of my team learning to create full stack applications with it, but I would like to learn a second language to focus on. (I already have some experience in Java and Python and JavaScript wasn't my first language but I like JS)
Are there any languages that you could suggest me?8 -
been lurking @ Rants for some time and want to thank you all for some great laughs.
Now I come to seek knowledge.
Studying computer science and all we learn are java at this point.
I want some frontend and was looking at React and realized I need to learn js first.
So, best way of learning js coming from java.
found javascript30.com worth it?11 -
Why is there so much stuff to learn and know? I just want to be able to do everything myself in a week.8

2. Learn something that has nothing to do with computers (seriously I bore myself sometimes in conversation)
3. Drink more rum and learn about it at the same time
4. Make time for friends and family
5. No massive outages!
Mostly I want to step out of work and be more sociable1 -
tl;dr Why Linux?
So yeah, another Linux question. I love C# and been doing some WPF and Xamarin stuff and planning to learn ASP.NET, but why do I hear that Linux is better than Windows for web dev. Why should I learn it especially if I want to specialize in .Net? Sorry just a student and I heard Microsoft is bringing a lot of Linux goodness to Windows and I wonder why.10 -
I'm in this weird place where I want a job but also want to learn new languages so that I have better chances of getting a job. I also really like learning and figuring out new ways to develop things and seeing what's out there.

Is Udemy a good place to learn stuff? I want to learn JavaScript and React. (I only know jQuery 😥)4

I have knowledge of both the languages but I want to learn one fully.6 -
I decided I am going to get full into Minecraft modding. It will be an opportunity to learn Java and Kotlin. I want to explore some game ideas in a well defined sandbox.
Some things I want to explore.
1. AI that helps you build and survive. This fascinates me and seems like it could be a good challenge. I like the idea of learning how to separate structures into chunks. I think I will learn a bit about tree data structures here. Maybe learn something about BSP trees (if applicable).
2. The idea of an RPG quest system tacked onto a sandbox. I want to spawn structures and create non-repetitive story lines. Minecraft can be really desolate if you are not playing on a server. Worlds tend to be empty and devoid of story.
3. Maybe try a hand at terrain gen. This could be fun to explore entropy math. It is fun to draw things with math.
I am sure I will come up with other fun things to explore here.9 -
For me it has to be dealing with other developers who don’t want to keen with the times.
I don’t mind anyone deciding they don’t want to learn new things, for whatever reason.
But when you’re in a team if you feel that way it’s unreasonable to expect the whole team to stop developing their skills for you.3 -
> lose weight
> get more than one client
> learn to drive and get a car
> try not to cry too much when I can’t afford the Tesla I want
> get my passport sorted and go on my first ever holiday (no joke). -
PHP vs Node.js
Please give your valuable opinions as I am want to learn backend as soon as possible.
Which one is best for backend purpose?22 -
Learn Rust and Elixir because of my hopefully new and exciting role. I want to become production ready developer for these languages as quickly as possible. But more than anything I want my new role not making me hate my profession.
And also I would like to start a long duration relationship. Can’t have it all though.3 -
https://hackernoon.com/how-it-feels...
After reading this post, I am so confused what to with this life. I thought of becoming a full stack developer. After reading it, I am thinking, is this I want to do with my life. How many libraries, frameworks, technologies and languages should I learn.
Getting confused what to do now. Grrrr...2 -
I feel so overwhelmed. I feel like I'm never going to actually learn everything about programming. I feel like I'm just going to learn some new API every time I want to do some thing. I feel like I'll lose the ability to do basic programming. I feel like I need a cup of coffee.3
-
I want to understand things well enough that I can mentor those who want to learn what I’ve already learned, maybe making it easier for them than it’s been for me.
-
And another weekend full of work, because I don‘t get shit done in the office.
Being kind if the lead dev in my team, everyone is coming to me for nearly everything and I rarely have time to work on my current ‚fulltime‘ project.
It‘s really frustrating. I just want to code .__. FML
(Maybe I should learn other programming languages and switch jobs? I always wanted to learn Haskell)2 -
I got exams coming up but all I want to do I get my hands dirty with kotlin, python and learn the java design patterns 😭1
-

-
Why the fuck do everyone want to teach "web development ", "programming ", "software engineer"...."coding". Everywhere I visit - I am hunted with "learn coding".8
-
So my friend wants to learn software development. That's great and I've offered to help, but why when I ask how it's going does he say he's just been playing games? Why does he want to be a developer if he doesn't want to be a developer??4
-
Can't stop gaming. I mean if
I put my heart to it I can learn anything I want within a few months but just can't resist the urge to boot up Witcher 3 every night.2 -

Hi everyone,
I have a question, what should learn if I want to make products for example like headphones or laptops and stuff like that. Till now ive only been programming and making pc games. And where could I learn it? Thanks!9 -
Friend: "Heyyy, I want a custom IT solution. Can you make it for me?"
Me: "Okay sure."
Friend: "Heyyy I don't want the program to do it for me, I want to learn it myself."
Me: "What the fuck.. sigh."
I ended up giving them some third-party boilerplate solution and now they're happy. Peasants..1 -
Expected university to teach me. Find out my expectations were wrong. But I learned how to learn stuff. Now I work on thing that I want and when I stuck, I learn new stuff to overcome. Still don't know much but tryin'1

Some of it involves learning new languages and I'm always told i shouldnt be hopping between languages but I really want to learn fucking PHP and C# even fucking C to help my python and it's not like its overwhelming but I hate when I get told to not bounce between languages IVE BEEN USING PYTHON FOR A YEAR AND A HALF I THINK ITS TIME FOR ME TO POLISH MY JAVASCRIPT AND LEARN A FEW MORE LANGAUGES LIEK FUCK3
-
Why does college have to have so many core classes? I'm a Computer Science major, I don't want to learn about the history of the economy or chemistry, I just want to code! About to finish my first semester of my second year and I've only taken 3 computer-related courses, and about 15 useless cores that add nothing to my education9
-
What would you guys say is a good strategy to learn coding. I'm a U.S Marine, waiting to pick up on my MOS school at 29 palms. I will be dealing with coding and I want to get ahead before I pick up my MOS school. What do you guys recommend I learn and a good source to learn fast.11
-
I want to learn some new language's anyone have some tips on what to learn and some tips to start learning5
-
So guys... I’m pretty interested in web development and I have a bit of experience in php and I want to learn a python web framework. But I don’t know which framework to choose.
Flask or Django???
Any Suggestions???3 -
Important thing I learned is not to listen to devs who suggest to learn a framework because its pointless
If i ask should i learn react or angular, some will say angular some react, and both have valid arguments why
When i branch to react and ask if i should learn nextjs or nuxtjs the same thing will happen
No matter if the arguments are valid or not people will prefer a framework they have been biased towards
All frameworks have cons and pros there is no such thing as "the one" perfect framework
No matter how framework is good people will always find a reason to take a shit on it
So from now i wont ask IF i should learn framework X, I'll ask for the order in which to learn it
For example i Know i want to learn A for whatever reason, should i first learn framework B or C?
I dont need your subjective opinion to tell me how B or C sucks and i should do D instead of A5 -
So I don’t get the hype behind GraphQL. Why is it so damn popular on one hand, on the other hand not popular enough to make an old fart like me want to spend time to learn how to use it?9
-
I hope middle management feels some type of way when they learn that 70% of people want to leave their jobs right now. I hope all companies get what they deserve. I hope they all learn how to be better.5
-
What should I learn first, Python or Rust?
All I know currenrlly is JS, and I want to get away from the browsers. And I'm a Linux guy, so Python or Rust seem's like the way to go :-)9 -
I want to work in backend and my fucking company want me to learn FRP in which I have no fucking interest 😫😭4
-
We are working on an AngularJs 1.x project for a long time now. Maybe we’ll use it forever because we will never be allowed to rewrite the whole app with much timely tools 💆🏻♀️
-
I'm in highschool learning to code, but I already realize that a programmers biggest enemy is TIME! I don't have time do the projects and learn the stuff I want to fucking learn! Because of God Damm School!!3
-
I know you can start a build process in the visual Studio dev console. Is there a way to start this process from a PowerShell sript? And if yes, how do I do this?
I want to/ need to learn automated testing.5 -
I am a beginner and want to code all the time. Even feel my current job useless and waste of time. I should find a job where I can learn, but my knowledge is too basic yet. :/4
-
I learned at IT school, because I didn't want to learn bad practices. And I don't regret that choice, teachers and courses were great !
-
I feel really stressed about everything I want to learn. Everytime I hear someone talk about some new framework or I see people here discuss languages or stuff I don't know anything about, I want to learn it. Right now the list of things I feel I need to learn is so fucking big that I've no idea where to start. Also, I need to focus on my upcoming exams, so I've absolutely no time to learn or do anything. Backend, front-end, iOS, Android, desktop, OS development, everything. So much to learn, so little time.3
-
There is a job fair coming up next week and while i dont really want to find a new job, i thought this would be a good excuse to update my cv a bit.
My question is, do you have any templates/frameworks/anything you usually use for stuff like this? I always throw together some bootstrap page but i want to learn something new.1 -
Hey all, can you guys recommend some great books on database theory and design. Something aimed towards intermediate towards advanced. It doesn't have to be sql, I just want to learn how to make a kick a#@ db.
Thanks!!!!!!!6 -
Question.
So I mainly work as a front end developer but I want to look into more backend stuff, would it be worth sucking it up and learn PHP and Laravel or Node.js and use something like Adonis?5 -
I don't want to learn every detail about networking, but I do certainly want to learn enough to make my software more robust and secure.
-
Is it okay to learn Perl and Ruby?
As I'm a networking guy and i want to write exploits of my own.
I have already been learning Perl and writing scripts.
I just want to know is it worth it in this era to learn these languages?8 -
I really want to learn Go, but I'm not sure where to start! devRanters who are also Gophers, what tools/resources do you recommend for a beginner?2
-

- Pass my electrical engineering exam (I suck at EE)1 -
I think if you are a beginner and you want to learn to program it's always better to look at the current technologies in the industry. This does not only apply to beginners, even those who are already in the industry as this may help to decide which language or framework you want to learn. In order for you to decide you need to know the market trend and the stability. I think the following links can help quite a lot.

I don't think I wanna be a dev anymore
Just a year ago, I was doing many side projects for fun, aching for proper coding tasks at work.
Now, I got a senior title but I don't want to do ANYTHING, I don't want to learn this new service or learn how to develop new stuff, I've lost all desire to learn something new. I just want a simple af simple low needs job, but also want good pay XD I know, it's stupid, but I really don't care what tech I use or how exciting the product is, I just want a simple repetitive job with little stress and deadlines and good pay
How do you motivate yourselves to get through the day and do your tasks? Honestly every PR review I'm shocked other engineers care so much about the code, they're obv right, I just wonder where that desire to maintain good coding practices comes from7 -

What's the easiest functional programming language for someone with experience with imperative languages?
I would like to learn a functional language to broaden my horizons. I have knowledge of Python and C / C ++ and I want the language to be easy to learn from someone who comes from the imperative realm of languages. I don't care if the language is strong enough. I just need a language to learn the basics of a functional programming language, and then I'll try to find a more complex (and powerful) one.

I want to learn a new front and back end webdev language. So far, I've found Dart and TypeScript (though this one is not completely new to me) on the front end side, and Go, Elixir and Rust on the back end side. I only need to choose for the skill, I don't have any specific target, I just want to learn new stuff.
Which ones do you suggest? -
