Client: This new feature is not working on Internet Explorer.
Me: Do you have enough oxygen in the cave you are living in?7 -
So my landlord just came up and asked why I'm using so much bandwidth (they've just had a new line installed so they're monitoring it like hell for some reason) so we had a chat, I told him I'm a Web Developer so I'm uploading and downloading a load, and bare in mind this is student housing, he offered to install a wired connection in my flat only so I'll have a decent and stable connection when all the other students come back in September.
This is the first time in my life I feel like I'm not paying enough rent!7 -
Friend: hey I started learning java..
Me: great, good luck.
*After few minutes
Friend: Hey I heard you're good in java programming..
Me: yeah I know stuff.
Friend: So can you teach me all good things in java?
Me: but..
Friend: half hour is supposed to be enough, right?
Me: hell no, it's not like that..
this stupid thinks half hour is enough to transmit all my career to his stoned brain..
I am going to die!12 -
Me: Visual Studio 2019 is acting weird. I should close it and re-open.
Me: *Clicks X in top right of instance window*
Dialog: Not enough memory to perform this operation.

This is the prototype of my "Build Button". I press the button and it executes a build process. Keyboard shortcuts weren't good enough for me.15

To the people who kept telling me that LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) was shit and you can't produce music with it properly, go fuck yourself. I stupidly enough believed this for years and kept on searching for other good open alternatives: nothing.
Tried it again last night, especially the drum machine since I'm going towards electronic music: motherfucker this thing is powerful!
No need for expensive software, LMMS works awesomely 😃27 -
This is Spork. Spork lives on the desk in my apartment.
My girlfriend bought the plant for her office but he wasn't getting enough light there so now he has a better home on my desk and gets lots of sunlight during the day.4 -
"Stop working from home. Fuck this. We do enough and don't get paid what we should. It is you and me for two campuses and you are far more knowledgeable and qualified than what they offered you at the beginning. I get that the benefits are killer but don't burn yourself out. I am not expecting you to work from home. Will not ask of it unless really is required and would much rather we have a few beers instead of getting together to finish bullshit deadlines...for 2 devs"
My current lead developer. He turned into my work best friend and he is really into the whole concept of "fuck it we ain't getting paid enough"
Dis b ma dude.2 -
So a coworker wrote this -- a function that returns a view if a specific object exists in the database. Now what would happen said object doesn't exist in the database? Forget about returning false and handling it properly, he decides that the function should print (echo) a zero! Not to mention almost all his if-else blocks prints a fucking zero when the if condition is false (there are 8 of them, if you're asking). Error messages? The hell with those.
He is now the PM btw. I've had enough of this shithole.14 -
Joy of being a programmer: Get good enough in a language/framework, you can make whatever the hell you want :)
There is probably no other field that allows this.15 -
FML
B: boss

A "Done using regexp"
B "The data coming in is different now"
A "ok, updated the regexp parts to account for this"
B "hmm, I you should rewrite it using library tool coworker made"
A "eeer ok, redone all the work now but it's a little hacky"
B "oh, library tool isn't flexible enough. Hmmm maybe use regexp?"
A - literally dead4 -
This is actually an advice given to me:
"Only ever release your code on a Friday, preferably after 6pm. If you're not confident enough to do that, your code is not ready."
Who says dev doesn't require courage.2 -
I'm not sure how many people on here would care about this since it's not strictly a dev issue, but just thought I'd let everyone know, iOS default apps can now be deleted on iOS 1019
-
You know what I realized we should always say no for demo driven application development.
We should always ask for enough time do a proper development and if its not enough, shouldn’t write a single line.
Because once we deliver a working demo. Its release ready for them because its FUCKING WORKING..
And trying to explain why this is just a demo and cant be put to production is even bigger pain in the ass than saying no in the beginning.
LESSON LEARNED .4 -
Working with a client...the resident """sysadmin""" hasn't actually been a sysadmin since the early 90s, the last OS he _actually_ managed was SunOS 5 or something. I can't remember what he said. He hasn't kept up AT ALL with modern technologies/terminologies. He's convinced SELinux is a security hardened kernel. We've explained to him several times that it's not but he sees Linux and thinks Linux 1.0 from the 90s. It's downright embarrassing.
Now this would all be well if I didn't have to interface with him often, but the client WILL NOT give me access to their systems. So I have to go through him to get anything done. Which is over webex. So I get to watch this guy type (and mess up) basic commands over and over (he isn't aware of tab completion of any of the bash features that are super useful). So I'm telling him what to type and the delay is always just enough for him to get too far in the command to back out, so its like SSH-over-incompetence with a 500ms ping. It's truly infuriating.
Every once in a while he'll get frustrated enough to hand me control of his webex session, which isn't as painful but once again the delay is bad enough it's still a pain.
Best part is that he looks EXACTLY like Milton from Office Space. So thats one plus to this whole situation!3 -
New video card is arriving today.
I'm about literally counting minutes to the delivery time 😅
Since AMD develops native Linux drivers I thought this would be safe enough, let's see how that works out!15 -
Boss: here is a mac project, we have not enough time.
Me: what? I didn't not work with Mac and related languages ever!
Boss: yeah, but you are senior developer, this is not supposed to be that difficult to you..
Me: *moment of silence* just tell me who taught you it and project management. because you are the stupidest shitty boss that a developer could have4 -
Just gonna leave this here.
Don't complain if you refuse to speak up. You don't like how something is going? But you don't want to do something about it? Then shut. The. Fuck. Up.
Getting sick of these fucking coworkers who bitch and whine about everything they don't like but when given the opportunity to speak up and voice their shit they just fucking clam up.
Context: nobody was saying anything during today's retrospective but were talking shit about the project the whole sprint. Gee I wonder why NOTHING FUCKING CHANGES. I'm the only one outside of our product owner and tech lead who even speaks out on problems/issues during the sprint. This dev team I'm on is just.. urgh.
They expect me to have their back, but they don't have mine. For months I've been carrying them. Fine. Enough is enough. The next time they need help from me they'll just get the obligatory "have you googled it because I don't have an answer" response.7 -
Q: WHO THE FUCK USES EXCEL FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT?
A: My Product Manager
Excel because she cant wrap her head around using Trello. WHAT THE FUCK!
Some people exist just to make things more difficult for everyone else. Fucking pain in the ass.
This person is one of the most incompetent one I have ever met.
I dont have enough words to express my rage right now.13 -
I just made this devrant chrome extension that notifies you when a new rant is posted. Just because having the site open isn't distracting enough.
@dfox will I get in trouble for using your logo for this?17 -
Boyz, I don't feel like Windows 10 is collecting enough information from me. What can I do about this? I want to give everything to Microsoft <311

Please Java and all java shit, take more memory I don't need it -_-
16GB doesn't seem to be enough to have a VM and Android Studio Open but it is more than enough to have
1. Visual Studio
2. SQL Server Management Studio
3. VM
4. FireFox
5. Visual Studio code
Fuck. This. Shit!20 -
When you think you know enough Javascript to get a job, then this comes along Can (a ==1 && a== 2 && a==3)could evaluate to true, and the answer is freaking "yes" 😒😒.20
-
This is more on work and life balance.
1. Don't do hard work, but do 'Smart work', else you will end up burn yourself 100%.
2. Don't think your manager is your guardian angel, even though it seems like sometimes. He has his own goals to achieve.
3. Spend considerable time daily in and out of office/work, for your own development/improvement.
4. Learn new languages and technologies.
5. Stop making things perfect, 'good' is enough.
and it goes on ............3 -
"please use a secure password*"
* But don't make it too secure, 20 Charakters is enough.
Why would you fucking do this? The only reason I can think about is a scenario like this:
"How do we store the passwords in the database?"
"Just like anything else?"
"So I create a VARCHAR(20)?"
"Yeah why not? It's good enough for a name, and you shouldn't use your or anyone else's name as a password, so it should be perfect"10 -
Alright, this is a new one to me, and wow am I blown away.
Working on upgrading an API that I did not build. Getting things running well enough and then an endpoint (which runs well enough in the tests) returns a `418 I'm a teapot`
Yeah, you read that right "I'm a (motherfucking) teapot"
The description is that...
"refuses to make coffee because it is a teapot"
It was an April fools joke in the beginning.
I couldn't return that error if I tried!
This shit is bizarre.

A: Can you tell me your opinion about this? Please, be honest.
Me: Ok, I think you could do it in a different way, but let's talk about what you did and see how to make it better...
A: I don't think so, I think this is the best way to do it.
Me: Oh, OK.
A: Why are you always complaining about my job?
Me: Well, you just asked me, and I work on this too, so I thought...
A: I don't think you're collaborative enough with me!
Me [walking away]: Oh, OK...6 -

Is it just me? I hate feeling like I'm too old (35) to begin a tech career. I love programming, but get the sense that I missed the boat on learning enough to be a "successful" programmer. I'm crazy to think everyone getting hired in this field is younger, right?18

This is reposted from Twitter but apparently there's enough of a market for this service to exist and that's surprising to me.
I understand that employers want to screen new candidates but flagging every tweet that they so much as liked with a bad word in it? How is this service useful? Surely even religious figures aren't held to such a standard23 -
Scrum:
Boss to designer: sadly the green logo was not chosen and we will go with the purple one.
D: oh good choice, but why green was discarded?
B: green is not enough criptocurrency related.
Me: in my mind: how a color is crypto related... What wut? Procceed to do weird faces, twitch and spasm while I try to sort this out.
Boss see me and beat me (gently!) with an inflatable chicken.
Guys. Green is not crypto.18 -
About 2 months ago. My job fired half the dev staff including the only other web developer. I am a junior, and now the sole web developer. I have been yelled at for not working fast enough and not knowing the code base well enough. (I did a lot of Rails, and this is a Spring shop). I have daily panic attacks about coming to work and having to be here for 8 hours. I have never felt more abused. I'm constantly stressed, and drinking more than I should. All advice given to me has been "just stay there til you find something else or they fire you." but it feels like no one really knows how unhealthy this is for me. My one hope is that I didn't bomb this interview at a university. I fucking hate my job.16
-
OK, I've had enough of this bullshit!
Why the hell do some people pronounce 'Z' as 'C' !?!
FUCK THESE PEOPLE!
Now, you might ask yourself: "But how is this tech related?".
WELL... I was trying to get into a server and had someone spell the password for me; AND GUESS WHO MISSPELLED THE PASSWORD THREE FUCKING TIMES SO HE GOT LOCKED OUT OF THE FUCKING SERVER BECAUSE OF THIS SHIT!!!
FUCK . FUCK . FUCK . FUCK . FUCK!!!!!18 -
I've been tasked to do website debugging.
For Internet Explorer 11.
On a Mac.
I have to use a virtual machine to get Windows on a mac just so I can test on internet explorer.
This mac is not fast.
This virtual machine is even less fast.
The internet explorer on this virtual machine on this mac is the least fast.
Even worse, this website is a pile of garbage. It's slower than my grandma.
My grandma is dead.
You can't get any slower than that, so I thought.
But then I got introduced to the result of making a wordpress site with over 300 pieces of media and 20 plugins.
If you are one of the people that's smart enough to stay away from wordpress: I assure you that it fucks your site up beyond repair.
So anyway, how was your day?3 -
Had my first coding interview today, and to be honest I didn't really nail it. Its surprisingly difficult to think clearly and critically when you have two strangers staring at you while you code. This is the 4th step of the interview process, hopefully my overall performance through the process is enough to get me through. Wish me luck (pretty plz)!3

Windows 10 as a development environment... Oh freakin' goody.
📍Multi-montor is finicky
📍Text scaling is still horribly broken
📍It takes longer to resume from standby than my old laptop takes to boot up from a cold start
📍Color matching LCD monitors is pants-on-head retarded
📍32GB of RAM isn't going to be enough...
This is going to be a long summer in corporate land.20 -
This is a ways out because I can't find LED filaments thin enough to simulate this, but if/when I find them, how difficult would it be to program a controller to have them map my circulatory system, with them pulsing in time to my pulse? I want to do something cool with my arm, and this keeps coming into my head, but I'm freaking out over how difficult I'm thinking this is going to be.
Ideas? Either on how to do this, or what else I can (reasonably) do? Friends irl want a rocket punch, I want a flamethrower, but anything else?72 -
My phone is finally giving up.
It's broken beyond repair, and the screen is starting to fail completely. I managed to fix it enough to pull my data off, and post this.
It's been my reliable companion for years, and we've gone through a lot together. You will be missed, Glassy. 🙁12 -
The company I work for is requiring customers to submit credit card info in an online form which then gets stored into our "secure database". Which employees then pull and charge the card later on. They're also telling customers that the form is "encrypted". This is all because they're too fucking lazy and not patient enough to wait for someone to integrate a payment gateway. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.5

If living and working in the UK wasn't hard enough as is for a student. This now happens and has, pretty much, screwed everything over.
Promoted lies, PM stepping down, value of pound dropping.
All going great! ☺️🔫4 -
Most tedious part of my day...
While meetings are boring and awful and all, it's probably spinup times for me. Each and every change requires a minimum of 35 seconds of spinup to test. If i'm testing something with mailers or other daemons, that increases to easily 90+ seconds (plus the worker thread pickup times).
It's not enough time to do anything useful, and more than enough time to lose my focus. It turns every task into boring, tedious struggle. It's awful.
Apart from my coworkers, this is the single worst part about my job. (Okay, the awful code quality totally pushes this to third place.)4 -
Not a coworker, but this guy who I went to uni with and was a real life saver when I was really down. (we played minecraft together)
... So, he is a real genius. One of those guys who I legit couldn't keep up with. His brain works, he doesn't bullshit his way through, he's not pretentious, he is legit a down to earth rare genius. Yet, he doesn't use his talents enough, he likes to work or go home to play minecraft. And he doesn't politically care enough, so I am almost sure that he will end up getting stuck in the defence force.
We're still friends. And I try my hardest to not be nosy and nag at him that he can do better. I mean, he is happy the way he is, and he is not ambitious. But the memory of him is a reminder that not everyone who gets somewhere is the best and brightest.36 -
This run up to Christmas is the shit. Everything is suddenly urgent. No time to do a proper job. If that isn't bad enough, you are also tasked with thinking up some ideas for family Christmas presents, as if i give a flying fuck. I dont mind the break for the holidays but i fucking hate Christmas but have to put a brave face on and celebrate (what exactly am i celebrating). And no scrooge comments please.8
-
My coworker told me today that since my birthday was this week I could take Monday off. I was so stoked before I realized Monday is Memorial Day.
Considering the shit I pull on this coworker and the future shit I will pull on him. I have to say it was fair enough.9 -

This is a nice community and this app is a great too. No ads or promotions are also there. So how does app manage financially ,i know there is a swag store but is that enough .As community gets larger, more resources are needed to keep everyone happy ryt ? more servers etc..
Will there be a different model when this expands ?

My current project. Won't reveal anything about it until I've got a usable version (which might take more than a month) but it would be a good way to give a middle finger to a big ass surveillance company.
It won't exactly match with their product since this is impossible for me to do as this would compromise user privacy but it'll come close enough!9 -
Me: We have to update the platform, but before doing this we should backup it.
Client: Ok, but a backup is not enough. What if we were not able to revert to the previous version? We should perform a manual copy.
Me: ... 🤦🏻♂️1 -

I should just quit. I am not paid enough to deal with this pissing contest.
Reviewer:
Need to add instructions (on readme) for installing pnmp, or if possible, have the top-level npm i install it (lol).
Also, it looks like we are no longer using lerna? If that's right, let's remove the dependency; its dependencies give some security audit messages at install.
Me:
it's good enough for now. Added a new ticket to resolve package manager confusions. (Migrate to pnpm workspaces)
Reviewer:
I will probably be responsible for automating deployment of this (I deployed the webapp on cloudflare pages and there is no work that needs to be done. "automating deployment" literally means replacing npm with pnpm). I disagree that it's good enough for now.
Imagine all readmes on github document how to install yarn/pnpm.
Lesson learned:
If you think an OOP static site developer can't handle modern JS framework, you are probably right.2 -
Yay!
(This text is needed, because my message needs to be between the 6 and 5000 characters long. In other words, "Yay!" is not long enough. So I'm typing a shitload of text to be sure I have enough characters in my message. Now I will stop typing, because I dont want to reach the 5000 character limit.)11 -
For once I'm actually relieved Stackoverflow is down, when I opened this page I immediately started reading the code out of habit - for a few seconds I was like "holyshit what the fuck have you gotten yourself into this time!? I was googling syntax...".
The only reason I looked up in the end to realize I'm a few sandwiches short of a picnic is that after a few seconds the color scheme made my eyes bleed and I wanted to know wtf was going on with the font. I think I've had enough internet for one day...

I took wk119 to clean my desk and make my wife happy (for a short period of time).
WFH Setup has been rearranged shortly and is not finished. Most of the soldering/Arduino/Pi/drone stuff has been removed and will get a seperate workbench soon.

But hey , cleaning the desk is enough for this week :-)3 -
Joined a company as a junior developer and have been working there for almost 4 years.
Too scared to leave because I don't know if I'm good enough to apply for a non junior role :(
Is this the so called "imposter syndrome?"10 -
That feeling when a coworker screws up totally. doesn't accept it as their fault.
You look at the code and see so much of redundancy and bad practice galore.
You look at it for a while and think you can rewrite it from scratch. But you finally end up saying "fuck this" and feel hopeless because there is not enough time.
Hate that feeling. Hate it. Depresses.2 -
Docker and kubernetes might be about the biggest boost in productivity that we have had as developers in the last fucking century and I can't speak well enough for theres technoligies.
FUCK ME this shit is good, this shit is great and this shit is NEEDED.
FUCKING LEARN THIS TECH18 -
So at the moment I'm developing a RESTful API for an internal project at work and I'm starting to learn and understand about HTTP status codes.
So I started incorporating proper response HTTP status etc, but my co-workers don't understand what any of it means. They think that just sending a JSON response is enough with any messages should be enough. I think this mindset stems from people who just do simple AJAX calls in JavaScript just to get or store data.
It's these kind of developers that I find are lazy or have no motivation to improve themselves, which is disappointing.5 -
Godammit Homebrew.
It's bad enough having to develop C on a Mac, now Homebrew is refusing to let me install a package that needs root privilege. Support simply says "no package needs root privileges" and "run as an admin". BITCH, THIS PACKAGE NEEDS IT.
So now I'm downloading homebrew source just to add a "--fuckingdoit" flag that skips their shitty "no sudo" rule.
Tooling should save me time, not WASTE it.1 -
A morbid realization (I am just wasting your time keep scrolling)
Unless someone takes a stand for the user, and their comfort and requirements, unless someone looks a client straight in the eye and says "no, I will not do that, and neither will my team" and denies them their request, nothing will change, good devs will keep losing their spark to save themselves frustration, good people will walk away and the tyranny that we face daily grows... unless someone stands up, someone who cannot be knocked down, or reprimanded and told they're wrong for fighting for what's right.. unless someone stands up for what is right and fair... nothing changes... and nothing ever will... poor programs, bad games and content, lower standards, frustrated users, annoyance that you don't matter as a user or a dev will never go away... unless someone says enough. But no one will, money is the boss, morality a liability, and people an abundant resource. This world is backwards, devs are carrying the blame and no one who is able, cares enough to say "that's enough!".13 -
I just want a coffee machine that is smart enough to know when I need coffee and then serves it on my desk.
(Also this coffee machine should automatically kill all annoying client's)5 -
Fuck you, insomnia.. You're a bastard.

Enjoying my new dev environment already.
This is a real install alongside my existing windows install. Surprisingly enough, windows has in no way complained about Arch!12 -
- booting Linux
- starting Clonezilla
- kernel panic after some time
- WTF, this used to work
- look at sensor values
- CPU is really hot
- CPU fan doesn't work
- BIOS warning disabled because the lowest regular fan level is 0 RPM
Luckily, I still had some cheap 120mm fan which is a bit louder, but works. What's astonishing is that in normal operation, i.e. without full load, the case fans alone provided enough air stream for the CPU cooler.8 -

I thought any fledgling dev could become a good one with enough team guidance, frequent discussion on ideas and reasoning with seniors, experience, and work variety
But one I know is proving they don't have the knack.
I really wanted to believe anyone could be a good dev if they tried hard enough but this one is just...
They've dragging us down.
Not paid enough to make it my problem to raise it with management. I've tried to help them grow but I've never seen such slow growth despite the different learning/teaching styles *we've* done to improve their capabilities (the entire team)
I dread working with them and I'm not alone apparently6 -
- Finish own blogging website (Vue/Flask as front/back-end)
- Improve my recently published Android App
- Learn ML (have a book for it)
- Maybe start learning Go or Rust
I guess that is way to optimistic but point 2 & 3 should be enough for 2018.
BUT there is also the real world:
- Graduating school
- Start studying.
So this is me for 2018 (at least the first half of it):5 -
This is a good Experience -
I used to go to a class to learn C++(was a kid back then).
One of the sir there told me -
"Anybody can write code, just knowing coding is not enough, idea is more important. You should have good ideas and solutions, you can alaways find people to code for you"
This has stuck with me till this day.1 -
Last night by accident I put my phone on coconut paste. (don't ask.)

An app is protecting me from itself. :|
This is a notification from my budgeting app, which translates SMS confirmations. It has a spam filter built in.
I've been getting annoying SMS ads from them which I delete.
The app would now like to know if I want to auto block SMS'es from its own company.
You'd think a company with enough sense to build an SMS spam filter would have enough sense to, you know.. not spam SMS'es?2 -

Hmm. So have you ever argued in a job interview? Like really standing your ground? In a technical interview?
Today I had a live coding session with a company I'm interested in. The developer was giving me tasks to evolve the feature on and on.
Everything was TDD. Splendid!
However at one point I had to test if the outcome of the method call is random. What I did is basically:
```
Provider<String> provider = new SomeProvider("aaa", "bbb", "ccc", "ddd", "eee", "fff")
for(int i=0; i<100; i++) {
String str = provider.get();
map.put(str, incrementCount(str));
}
Set<Integer> occurences = new HashSet(map.values());
occurences.removeIf(o -> o.equals(occurences.get(0)));
assertFalse(occurences.empty());
```
and I called it good enough, since I cannot verify true randomness.
But the dev argued that this is not enough and I must verify whether the output is truly random or not, and the output (considering the provider only has a finite set of values to return) occurences are almost equal (i.e. the deviation from median is the median itself).
I argued this is not possible and it beats the core principle of randomness -- non-determinism. Since if you can reliably test whether the sequence is truly random you must have an algorithm which determines what value can or cannot be next in the sequence. Which means determinism. And that the (P)RNG is then flawed. The best you can do is to test whether randomness is "good enough" for your use case.
We were arguing and he eventually said "alright, let's call it a good enough solution, since we're short on time".
I wonder whether this will have adverse effect my evaluation . So have you ever argued with your interviewer? Did it turn out to the better or to the worse?
But more importantly, was I right? :D21 -
Android, please fuck off. I cant install/update apps because i don't have enough space. So 1gb of free memory is not enough for a 10mb app?
This is my 3rd android phone, and I've had the same issues on all of them.
Probably getting a iPhone 7. Sad, i know :(19 -
Why the fuck everyone in indian game dev industry is obsessed with unity fuckkkkkk !
Don't you know you only need some lite runtime like OGL or SDL for those shitty "hyper casual" games
Also why the fuck is an experience in building hyper casual games is a requirement isn't this side scroller hack and slash knockoff good enough for you to know I'm competent enough
Fuck you dumb shit for brains people who are heating up phones by using unity just for a shoot the hoops game.7 -
I got my dirty fingers on this leak of an AMAZING ML model capable of pondering EVERY PARAMETER IN THE UNIVERSE and saying if your business idea needs improvement or is good to go.
BEHOLD THIS 100% PURE PYTHON SOLUTION:
```python
import random
def magic(*args, **kwargs):
if random.random() > 0.5:
return "Good to go!"
else:
return "Requires improvement on value proposition"
```
This LEAK is from a startup that just received 4 BILLION USD IN VENTURE CAPITAL to improve their AI SYSTEMS.
Literally enough money to solve world hunger forever.
Who else is gonna invest in NEW THERANOS ADVANCED A.I. RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL INC?8 -
I hate this trend. Take up the whole screen for one big nothing. Yep, 1920x1080 is apparently not enough to show me more than motto, one link and freaking big image nobody care about.
Fuck, i must code it. Oh damn, there is 8 same sections on the whole page. Don't worry, not a single one of them worth reading! FUCK YOU designers!14 -
There's not enough ranting on devRant, too many words of encouragement, that's not what this is for!!!!7

Now I know this may cause people to hiss uncontrollably but it's Visual Studio 2017 for me
It's clean, with my low end configuration it's fast enough, maybe my projects aren't large enough tho, Microsoft is making efforts with the git integration, I really enjoy it as an everyday tool3 -
I have only been working with this open-source tool for 2 weeks, but already found 2 bugs. The maintainer is also nice enough answering questions quickly in the forum and submitting the issues for me.
It's nice to be able to contribute something to the open-source community. Yay for me! 💯
Too bad that next week, I will transfer to another project and stop working with this tool.3 -
I really despise solving competitive programming problems.
I truly believe it's okay to struggle with them and that people have different abilities. But these kind of problems are an easy way to make you hate yourself and think of yourself less.
I can't solve this problem --> I'm not a good programmer --> I'm not smart enough --> I'm not good enough like my peers who work at FA*G companies, ...
I know these interview problems are a filter and that recruiting is hard and the demand is always high and that they are nothing like the real work but, the reality is, you need to prepare if you want to get into one of the big companies with better perks and maybe better projects.3 -
Firebase is pure fucking assrape!
How can these spoiled cunts of Google "develop" such a stinking pile of rotten placenta?
No, one fucking Promise is not enough... you have to return Promises for every single smegma function!
I want to just blow up this ugly afterbirth!!
It seems that Google devs are just spoiled MacCunt Pro brats who copy-paste code around until something "kind of works".13 -

I hate my country. I hate how everything around me is done poorly: roads, houses, production, & stuff. I hate how my countrymen are settling with just good enough or how they are okay with mediocrity.
This is a rant. I'm a dev. Hope that counts on devRant LOL9 -
"Your next computer is not a computer" says Apple. Have you tried connecting your iPad to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor? If you're lucky enough to only use apps that natively support this setup, then more power to you. If not, I encourage you to try it. I made it 30 minutes before I got frustrated and moved back to my laptop.9

Now my only goal is to obtain enough points on this app that I might trick out my profile picture and get it printed to the custom sticker.1

Android studio is a PATHETIC excuse of an IDE!! And managing a constraint layout inside a scroll view is worse than having my nails pulled out while a bamboo is growing into my spine at record time! Screw this piece of shit IDE!! I suck at front end bad enough to have to deal with its buggy frontend IDE!! Aaaah!!!! - pulls lumps of hair out-16

To all of us who procrastinate. Here is my new thinking that is making me slightly more productive! I would guess we all agree that the work is fucked up. But what we need to be productive, is an ego big enough to think that we are the only one smart enough to fix it! Just let your ego go!
Why code that project? Because other people would do it wrong! You fuck up the project? Fuck you, do it right or it won't be done right! My internal monologue from now on!
Does this mean I don't ask for help? Of course I ask! So that I can learn it, realise the other person is an idiot, then do it right using their technology!
If you don't do what you are planning to do, nobody will! Also most of the worlds problems can be solved with money, so that is why we should get rich. To fix the problems of the world.
Hope it helps someone :)4 -
We use Unity in university to display the workings of algorithms.
Cus you know.. a little cross-platform 2d webgl is not enough.. we need this whole friggin engine with an IDE and its 1000 buttons and switches and need for an account and C#...2 -
Here I am just tryna browse a site and this stupid attempt to trick me into falling for a scam pops up. There is no way to stop the pop up because I can’t tap anything fast enough. Not even restarting the browser because it remembers this as the last URL it had accessed. Looks like I have to uninstall and reinstall chrome. Honestly, if you’re a scammer, what the hell is the point of doing this? What idiot is going to call the number? All it does is annoy you to the point of suspicion. Or maybe there are people stupid enough!?7

2021 was really rough, saw friends going over the deep end with burnout, significant incidents to handle and a shitty manager to deal with.
It wasn't about blood and tears, it was about commuting 4 hours/day mid-pandemic to be present in the office and respond to an incident whilst having to deal with a bunch of heroes thinking they were part of a CSI: Cyber episode.
All of that just to be said that my raise "would be enough to keep me from looking elsewhere" as my manager said they were very happy with my performance.
This week I found out exactly how much this appreciation is worth: 2%. And I should consider myself lucky with this number as my performance wasn't good enough to grant me any raise whatsoever.

When your company is sinking, and you keep suggesting to pivot, trying something new or different enough, having some meeting to think about new levers to increase revenue... and the only answer is "we don't have enough time for this. Let's try tweaking <insert random feature here>".
WE ARE LOSING 30.000€+ EACH MONTH!!! WHO FUCKING CARES ABOUT CHANGING THIS FEATURE NOW!!!
Today it's been more than 7 months since "we don't have enough time". Still nothing intelligent has been tried. The company could be closed down in 2 month. FUCK YA ALL decision makers!
Now I'll probably lose my job just because you're too fucking stupid to get your finger out of your ass! The company is in the exact same state since 7 months!!! Go burn in hell! -
There is this company that saves your information, before you have even registered.
If you merely fill in a field, they will save it to their database. Not even saving/submitting it, just filling it in.
So when you then visit their store, they already know stuff about you (if you gave enough unique identifiers, like phonenumber or email adress) and recommend stuff based on your browsing of their website5 -
I don't have anything to rant about (still in college). This either means one of two things.
1. My life is boring as hell.
2. There's a lot of shit happening around me and I am not educated enough to understand it.

I do wish that we could have a dev dating site. Why? Cause I cannot give my girlfriend enough time and then she gets moody and then this leads to breakup.
Now I have to freaking choose between her or code this is bad, bad.
If we devs get dev gf she knows how things work and things would work out16 -
I was working on this ER model today and making everything look polished and alligned and then I proceed to generate the PNG out of it, but it turns out blurry and disgusting and eww and why the hell can't I change the dpi or ppi even? 96 dpi is not enough ...4
-
Long time ago i ranted here, but i have to write this off my chest.
I'm , as some of you know, a "DevOps" guy, but mainly system infrastructure. I'm responsible for deploying a shitload of applications in regular intervals (2 weeks) manually through the pipeline. No CI/CD yet for the vast majority of applications (only 2 applications actually have CI/CD directly into production)
Today, was such a deployment day. We must ensure things like dns and load balancer configurations and tomcat setups and many many things that have to be "standard". And that last word (standard) is where it goes horribly wrong
Every webapp "should" have a decent health , info and status page according to an agreed format.. NOPE, some dev's just do their thing. When bringing the issue up to said dev the (surprisingly standard) answer is "it's always been like that, i'm not going to change". This is a problem for YEARS and nobody, especially "managers" don't take action whatsoever. This makes verification really troublesome.
But that is not the worst part, no no no.
the worst is THIS:
"git push -a origin master"
Oh yes, this is EVERYWHERE, up to the point that, when i said "enough" and protected the master branch of hieradata (puppet CfgMgmt, is a ENC) people lots their shits... Proper gitflow however is apparently something otherworldly.
After reading this back myself there is in fact a LOT more to tell but i already had enough. I'm gonna close down this rant and see what next week comes in.
There is a positive thing though. After next week, the new quarter starts, and i have the authority to change certain aspects... And then, heads WILL roll on the floor.1 -
It is not on production anymore, but it was for long enough. Someone thought it would be a great idea to be able to debug a web app while signed in as a user reporting a problem. How to do it? It's easy. Just check on every request if magic HTTP parameter SIGN_IN_AS=id is present and if it is, sign in as this user. Of course, it worked also with admin account with hard-to-guess id=1.1

PLEASE THROW YOURSELF OFF A BUILDING?! -
If you want to make a startup but don't because there is a similar product or "every niche is already occupied", quit thinking this way.
Yahoo could once easily buy Google. They even received the offer but rejected it. But as for now, Yahoo is nothing.
Tumblr was once a top social network, but they crumbled. Foursquare once was preinstalled to smartphones, and now it pretty much doesn't exist.
Blackberry was a giant, the number one smartphone manufacturer. Where are they now? It wasn't betrayal like it was with Nokia and Stephen Elop.
Matter of fact, I'm now working for the company that entered a heavily occupied niche and over the course of three years pushed every competitor out.
Sometimes giants crumble. Small products crumble way more often, just because there are more of them.
There is always enough room in every niche of every industry. Just enough for your startup. Now, as you can't hide under "it's already occupied, and I can do nothing about it" mindset, the only reason your startup won't make it is that you don't work on it. Yes, accepting it is way less comfortable than hiding, but now you're able to change things. You _can_ do something about it.
Evaluate your goals, ask yourself whether making this startup would be just wasted time in case it never takes off, and if you think it's still worth doing, do it.
There is always enough room for your masterpiece.2 -
"Can you look at this bug when inputting negative numbers?"
I check the app and think, "negative numbers don't make sense here".
Sure enough there is validation in place to prevent negative numbers being typed.
Yet they still managed...
By pasting in negative numbers, after being unable to type them, thinking "fuck it I'll paste it instead", then complaining to us because they abused our app.
Seriously.
Fuck.
Off.2 -
Sometimes I think "I should write a meaningful error message for this exception" and then i remember how useless 99% of the error messages of every compiler / interpreter I've ever had to use and decide "msg ='something went wrong'" is good enough.3

Macbook keyboard is shit
Especially european variant.
I want to see any person in the world that is braindead enough to think that making short left shift if favour of having abolutely useless button there is good.
This is the most stupid decision that could be ever made.
Not only the symbols used by that button are seldom used, they also are duplicated on they other keyboard keys. But shift is used all the time and must be big enough instead of that shit.9 -

This is going to take a while :/5 -
SO MAD. Hands are shaking after dealing with this awful API for too long. I just sent this to a contact at JP Morgan Chase.
-------------------
Hello [X],
1. I'm having absolutely no luck logging in to this account to check the Order Abstraction service settings. I was able to log in once earlier this morning, but ever since I've received this frustratingly vague "We are currently unable to complete your request" error message (attached). I even switched IP's via a VPN, and was able to get as far as entering the below Identification Code until I got the same message. Has this account been blocked? Password incorrect? What's the issue?
2. I've been researching the Order Abstraction API for hours as well, attempting to defuddle this gem of an API call response:
error=1&message=Authentication+failure....processing+stopped
NOWHERE in the documentation (last updated 14 months ago) is there any reference to this^^ error or any sort of standardized error-handling description whatsoever - unless you count the detailed error codes outlined for the Hosted Payment responses, which this Order Abstraction service completely ignores. Finally, the HTTP response status code from the Abstraction API is "200 OK", signaling that everything is fine and dandy, which is incorrect. The error message indicates there should be a 400-level status code response, such as 401 Unauthorized, 403 Forbidden or at least 400 Bad Request.
Frankly, I am extremely frustrated and tired of working with poorly documented, poorly designed and poorly maintained developer services which fail to follow basic methodology standardized decades ago. Error messages should be clear and descriptive, including HTTP status codes and a parseable response - preferably JSON or XML.
-----
This whole piece of garbage is junk. If you're big enough to own a bank, you're big enough to provide useful error messages to the developers kind enough to attempt to work with you.2 -
Oh my! This guy is such a dickhead! We have a release tomorrow and he just changed everything a coworker did in the past few weeks because it had some errors and looked not polished enough.
Now it looks quite nice.
*sigh* Sometimes I can be such an asshat. -
Fucking fuck sonarcloud and everything about it. Part of the build pipeline for us to deploy code is to ensure that 90% of the code is covered by a unit test. Great in theory, horrible in practice. You think you've written enough tests that actually add value and test a valid piece of functionality but NO, sonarcloud throws a fucking fit because you're at 89.888 then your branch is going nowhere. Because everyone else gets to this stage and writes just enough tests to get the coverage to 90.01% then it becomes a stand off of who will break first; the code coverage threshold or your mental state.4
-
Fuck me, I lost my motivation AGAIN!
I mean, yea, this is a big project and I alone am obviously not enough workforce to do it, but I at least hoped for a prototype. And instead of writing anything like that, I end up writing all sorts of unnecessary modules and wrappers for game engine functions. Grrr.3 -
Been bughunting the last week or so on this import job that is suddenly running so slowly that it takes more than 24h and is restarting on top of itself.
It used to run in anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, which was bad enough. You see, it ran on timer scheduled by our main site. So our deployment window was determined by when this job finished, and if it didn't finish during work hours, then no deployment that day.
So we got the idea to move it to a separate service to eliminate that deployment window bottleneck. And now, seemingly unrelated, it is just running slow as shit.
There is a lot of bad design in the code, and we know we want to build a completely new solution. But we also absolutely need this import to run every day until a better solution can take over.
We've taken care of some of the most obvious problems that could cause the poor performance, but it's unclear whether it's going to be enough. And with a runtime of about a day and wild variations of the most atomic partial imports, it's extremely tedious to test as well...3 -
Because everyone else is ranting about this too:
I'm not afraid of Microsoft wanting to monetize everything or that they will restrict site access to Microsoft Edge only. What I am afraid of is that they change the privacy policy.
Who knows what they are up to?
I hope GitHub is awesome enough to decline the offer.... Let's see.13 -
Am going through documents and found an old review on a paper I wrote in semester 1. Now, I wouldn't say my paper was either good or bad. There was not enough guidance provided in the unit and I was unfamiliar to the scientific asshole community so I tried my best.
But in particular, fuck reviewer 2. He doesn't understand basics in English and he has the audacity to make judgement. Like, I am not "misspelling" you moronic asshole who doesn't even know the difference between American and English spelling.
He wrote three fucking pages. This moron wrote about half the length of my paper about why my paper is shit. I hope he chokes on shit.
He goes on to why every figure was useless or wrong; How no section is related to another; How everything is either not explained enough, or explained too much. The audacity is what he suffers from throughout the review.
In conclusion, and given the contrast between reviewer 1 and 2, I'd recommend reviewer 2 goes on to fuck himself. Moronic bastard.
It's a pity that I know this will happen again in future. God this makes me so angry. Gah.5 -
Just discovered I still have access to my old employers source code on VSTS, and can see from here that that there is a new team member!?
👿 I was made redundant "times are tough, there's not enough money, you were last in so first out" mother of fuck!
I wonder how many other places do this sort of thing.4 -
After about 7 hours continuous work in any one day, I’ve kinda had enough and noticed that work beyond this point is usually shit. I stopped trying and think fuck it now. Deadlines are mainly bollocks anyway. My life is a lot better because of it. Don’t do today what you can put off til tomorrow.Who’s with me?6
-
Okah guys, here is the deal. I have two ideas in my head. I just need to design them and start coding. Problem is I can't find motivation. I'm trying to do this for years now. I guess I'm not motivated enough. I work about 9 hours a day. What should I do to get motivated. What do you guys do?8

For some reason github is returning 503 on our build servers randomly. And I need to checkout several repositories to build everything successfully. Builds are automatic and I don't want to maintain local mirror. And we wanted to release tomorrow (but were smart enough to promise this week). And on top of everything build takes six hours and sometime fails randomly even without github. But I'm still optimistic - it's Monday after all. We still have enough time to make it in time for Friday release :-)5

How the fuck did my company decide a single toilet stall is enough? Are they really this cheap? Why must I go to the bathroom three times before I can actually use it? Why do they think one is enough for 100 male employees? In their defence, they do have urinals, but I'm not comfortable using them.
So many questions and I STILL NEED TO GO!4 -
"Hey can you make this excel report for me real quick? Here are the columns, you gotta get them from this table in the database. Shouldn't take long."

I always wonder why the IT guys seem to be short tempered when dealing with dev related issues.
Now I understand...
For a few days I have to help my colleague setting up his new project and dear Lord...
I thought I have enough patience because I am a woman...
This guy is very very junior, I couldn't get any input/ideas from him when debugging
Dear god, help us because I am the only one with enough experience in this project.11 -
For some reason GMail removes the Inbox label to some mails (usually receipts or communications from shopping sites) so sometimes I miss important mail and not realise until days later when I go "why the fuck is there no update?" I removed all filters and disconnected all services from accessing Gmail
Does anyone else have this issue?
So anyway... Finally got pissed of enough to build an IMAP program that looks are all Unread emails (with no labels) in All Mail and then moved them to the Inbox.
Part of me is wondering is this a test? Does Google like pissing me off to see what I'll do about it? -

First day of my first developer job is Monday. Oh shit. Nerves are starting to set in. What if I’m not good enough for the job? I mean I didn’t the coding assessment they wanted me to do. And passed. You know that point when your pc is just not capable enough? And you are on holidays with so many ideas that you want to code up?
I'm there.

Just a quick one:
Testing team: hey your webservice isn't returning the id number of this customer we used it to look up, fix it
I take a look and sure enough the test customer doesn't have an id number *screenshot of blank field*
I add an id number to the customer and test it out again. Lo and behlod, there's the id number! *screenshot* *send reply*

What is the best PC spec for development?

Ok so I'm taking a developer survey, and since this is the best community of devs I know I'm taking it here first. This is for research purposes attempting to draw parallels between thing such as favorite language and favorite editor, tabs vs spaces and years of development experience, etc.

Program asks on start if you want to download a newer version. Closes when you click no. Bad enough, right? Here is the fucking worst part: if you click yes it takes you to a website that informs you that the program was discontinued and offers alternatives. So no downloads. So i can't fucking use this program anymore. That I paid a shitload of money for. Great.5

Am I the only one who's a final year undergraduate, but isn't sure he/she knows enough about programming and comp sci as they should?
Like I recently went for an interview with a company, and they asked what's the difference between pass by reference and pass by value. Now, this is probably a very basic qs, so I was surprised when I couldn't answer this. So I'm really scared that I don't know enough, also I'm terrible in their group exercises too, I can't see how the others can do it so easily.9 -
How about a Git for Databases?
Do your changes, delete things, create things, and then when you are sure push these changes to your server.
If you did something wrong like accidentally delete fucking everything, just revert and everything is like before again.
Also you can view history and blame people for doing something wrong.
Tell me what you think about this. Not clue how you could implement this tho... Also I have enough to do already so feel free to take this idea!10 -
What are your guys thoughts on Stackoverflow? I feel like no matter what I say on there, whether it be a question, comment, answer, it’s never good enough for someone. Everyone there just seems so rude for no reason. Do you guys have the same experiences? Just curious if it’s only me or it is like this for everyone.14

If you look at the "lightweight business laptops" or business netbooks section of the market you'll notice almost all of them seem to have 4gb
Bitch, thats barely enough to run windows 10.
Looks like a market opening. If I were still doing upgrades and repairs I'd blame everything on low memory (well, a lot of slowness can loosely be attributed to lack of memory) and upsell new machines with more and better ram. Target 6gb, which is cheaper than 8 and offers a minor but noticeable boost, just enough to passably justify the increased cost to whoever is responsible for authorizing the upgrade.
I don't understand whats so hard to grasp about this. It's like companies trip over dollars to pick up dimes.4 -

Did you know that docker's ADD instruction uses "go-http-client/1.1" as user-agent when src is an URL?
I didn't. And since I'm unfortunate, enough so that this user-agent is blocked by my company, I've now spent twice the time it took me to write the whole dockerfile to identify the problem and fix it...
I love waisting my time for such minor things...12 -
This phising email I just received in my yahoo account almost got me fooled with the very convincing email design, but thankfully the culprit didn't smart enough to spoof his email address.
Ohh and they attach a suspicious pdf file too despite the message didn't say anything about attachment.
Apparently the spam detector in yahoo is not very good as this one was received in my main inbox.2 -

Today's world has gone so corrupt and full of crime that its almost impossible to be identified as honest/right, even if you are one. We thought that power of Internet would help identify the correct things but on the contrary, the internet is being used for declaring the wrong as right.
Thanks to sheer volume of duplicate data and social media's unverified content, we can no longer trust anything. Plus the effect of government and powerful people is so much that any big company you believe in would be forced to do whatever these big guns want.
Today if government wants to declare that "banana is a god fruit", they will simply generate enough news articles, social media tweets and rumours to do so. They know they can't proof it, but they can generate enough resources to change enough mindsets that what they are saying is not right but not completely wrong.
Even GitHub, which i once believed to have the ultimate method of preserving the truth is no longer a real thing. US govt has shown enough power to tell the world, that if we don't like something, then not even github is strong enough to preserve it
Our Indian government is also no less. Yesterday i heard the news that Gujrat government is slowly replacing the junior school's history syllabus to remove important historical events and replace them with chapters on hindu supremacy.
Currently i am not sure if its a real news but WHAT THE FUCK!?! They are going to erase the history? If the new generation gets the biased version of history, won't they grow up hating a particular commodity?
And forget the new generation, what about our generation? Did the books i read on history were also biased? Is this all political agenda why i like a particular commodity and hate the others? And how can i know if the facts i read are correct and truth? Who is the person verifying them and on what grounds is his decision correct?
Clearly no one can answer that because at the end, its highly opinionated.
If a newspaper A says "this guy is good" and newspaper B says "this guy is bad" , then after a 100 years, we would only believe the newspaper whose fossil remains in the museum and not the one which people believed to be correct 100 years ago.
And this is the problem. Corrupt people are generating enough content to make sure the biased version of history remains preserved while the original version gets lost with time.
I sometimes think that i should be buying a server deep below some glacier in the Antarctic ocean , hosting the real version of history. But there is no guarantee that government won't be tracing it back or make attempts to down2 -
I just returned from a 1 week vacation and my boss summonned me for a 1 on 1, and said he is not satisfied with my work, as I don't deliver "fast enough" according to him and do not show enough enthusiasm. I just nodded and didn't answer out of shock.
Background: It's my first dev job, and it's in a really fast paced startup. I have no degree, and I'm here for 3 months. I'm 23 years old, he is around 30.
I really don't know how should I feel about this. It's the first time someone tells me stuff like that and I'm kinda depressed. I know I sometimes work slower than my colleagues because I have less experience but I never thought it would come to this.
Any advice?2 -

How do you guys deal with tiredness? I mean, holy shit, I feel so fucking tired all the time that it's starting to affect me at my work! Is it because I'm in school while I work? Is it because I don't get enough sleep? All I want is this FUCKING TIREDNESS TO GO THE FUCK AWAY, HOLY SHIT!14 -
so when someone in the office finds a funny design or absurd code on our sites we play a game we named roulette: we check the versioning system and find who did it... there is no price in this game, that shame is enough :)3

Is a 2017 MacBook Air good enough for web development and for working in IntelliJ IDEA, Android studio & XCode?
I'll be building a PC with Ryzen 7 and Vega for performance intensive tasks later. I need a laptop with good build quality under $1000.
If you know any good windows laptop in this price range please let me know :)9 -
Senior dev on our team is concerned that we are raising standards above and beyond what we need to deliver the project.
For 6m+ this project has delivered little, but what there is is full of bugs that got through testing, and no standards (coding or otherwise) in place at all.
I hate dealing with people who preach “good enough” is fine but won’t accept they aren’t even close to doing “good enough”7 -
So if I buy this stuff, word has it that I will have "a computer." Is this enough to get to play with CUDA on a little tiny GPU?23

So, this happened.
We are supposed to get bonuses by this time of the year, but at the evaluations meetings we were told that this year we won't because we've lost a client and bla bla.
Later this week, one of my colleagues just opened himself and told me that he and one more received the full bonus!!
So basically our employer just lied to everyone.
What would you do?
I'm leaving for sure, already think that this company is hitting a dead end, but i think leaving is not a good enough for the company to open their eyes and starting to value all its employees, even after I leave.7 -
Once when the marketing guys validated an offer with a client without taking the technical team estimations..
When someone gave me the work and I find the time is not enough, I said: whoever validated this, he can implement it by himself. -
This morning, I decided I'm gonna do some Android development. I opened Android Studio (closing 2 Firefox windows to reclaim enough RAM), launched the Android Emulator and then proceeded with my coding.
Since, I've almost finished a prototype app, translated a good 100 strings, had lunch, updated 2 server and THE EMULATOR IS STILL BOOTING!
My Android dev friend tells me this "just happens sometimes". WHAT?!?
I'm genuinely starting to think that good software doesn't exist anymore... -
supposing the complex plane were projected onto the surface of a sphere? besides measuring angles between points, would there be any utility in measuring the length of a curve between two points?

What a coincidence. This will be that day. Not as dev, but as a student. I know this place called DEVrant, but I'm really nervous right now, because of the tests today. I didn't learn and I'm gonna fail all.
But not the tests the only thing I worry about. I hate this world becouse everybody needs to work hard and there is no break. Rarely you can get some air, but one second later you're in the deep again... I don't know what to say or what to do. This will go in my entire life? This is horrible.
I know. I'm just a student. "It will be harder." you say. But I've had enough of this.3 -
The biggest problem of a social media platform when it gets popular enough is how to handle low quality media that people post.
Facebook clearly sucks at this.
13 ways of doing *
7 things *
Even when you have not subscribed to those kind of pages.
Instagram is doing a bit better but I can see low quality posts popping up as the vultures are now targetting Instagram more after Facebook's fall.2 -

Side project showoff
Why isn't it enough to develop a tool that even the end user likes? So many challenges to get it through to the right people.
I launched this project in January. Didn't have anything to do for the year before when I got back home from my internship. So made this lol.
Any feedback is welcome.

So many of the idiots at my school, when they grow up, want to do "something with computers". Wha? The concept of what you even do with a computer is so widely screwed up that kids think that is specific enough to plan their futures on. I suggest they actually learn minute enough of their future career to know what really they want to do, but I guess this would be too logical?4

Just received a client who needed me to add content to his website. I do provide content adding services where clients have to provide all the content I will add to their website.
The only problem is that this client gave me the content for his about page, which only consists of three sentences. Seems simple? Well the three sentences are big enough to be considered three paragraphs!1 -
tfw you have matured enough as a developer to look at old legacy code (some of which you contributed to) from a hacked together UI Frankenstein kludge and immediately you notice all the security flaws.
How fortunate there is strong query param validation going on...otherwise this would be a veritable shit storm. -
i found playing with arduino is never-ending fun. and then i tried Raspi and feeling the same. now i buy a bunch of raspi and trying to cluster them up, just for another random project.
yeah this is clearly nonsense. this is myself when my boredom gets high enough. No, vacation is not helping, trust me i've been camping in a jungle for 5 days and the next week i go to the beach. this is bad.
making things worse, My way of life is like any ordinary people (or maybe a developers) but turned upside down for example I program, learning for fun, and going vacation is just another medical need that i need to follow.

I've been programming since 6, and geeking anything around technology and astronomy till now. this is my third semester and i don't get challanged enough for this kind of curricullum. i need some kind of project that even i don't think about any number of money anymore, but just enough to challange me up. just need to get rid my boredom.
sorry for ranting from a to z, this is just buzzing around my mind. -

That moment the client asks to add a single link to a header and you think: "easy enough". But then you notice their CSS.
Not a single f*cking class is used in the entire header, everything is done using :nth-child selectors etc... 🤬
Also, did I mention, the CSS is used for several headers, so adding an element to the header and modifying the CSS might break any other header in the application.
And this after they mentioned last week that they don't use a library like Bootstrap because it is too cumbersome.
I'm so mad right now, have been trying to fix this for half an hour. A task like this shouldn't take more than five minutes!6 -
For now I decided to give less shits about bad code and the job. Unfortunately I am not resolute enough right now to steer a ship going in the wrong direction. Once clock hits 5 this homeboy is out.

Most developers are morons, pt 2
In my last post on this topic, I discussed zombie developers, i.e. lower tier developers who enter the industry from a non-tech background usually through a bootcamp or get hired at a small (and usually desperate) company after doing a few github projects.
In this post I'll be talking about the middle 67% of developers. The average joes. The ones who know enough software to build apps, maybe even publish it and sometimes (not always) actually get users using their products, even for a brief moment of time.
For these people, software is genuinely interesting to them, but they don't really put in enough effort to get good at it. They don't put in enough late nights. They don't cancel enough leisure or social events. For most, they're only good enough to not get fired (job security) and that's as far as they want to take their careers.
And I suppose there's nothing wrong with that. Most people don't have a yearning to go above and beyond, so I'd expect most developers to follow this pattern as well.
So to you, I say thank you. Thank you for doing all the boring menial work no one cares to do. You might even get a pat on the back if you put in the extra effort.19 -
A recruiter calls me without any notification for a job I applied. The first qn i get is what is the salary I expect and how much work experience I have. Straight up rejected saying not enough experience. It wasn't a fancy company but surely looked decent enough. Is this pretty common or did I just dodge a bullet?1

So, I am fresh CS grad working at his first dev job at a pretty small startup (less than 20 people).
The Engineering team has 7 people and it's relatively flat.
At times, the senior engineers in my team, have 1:1's with the CEO and (what I feel is) some decisions are taken according to that meeting.
I feel kind of uncomfortable about this secrecy etc. even though I know that at least right now I am not experienced enough to be a "decision-maker".
Is this normal? Idk if this is how politics in the workplace happens.. looking for advice on what I should do regarding this..
Also, it doesn't help that I am literally the only Software Engineer (all other Engineers are Senior Software Engineers or CTO) so there is this generational gap which has limited my ability to "really connect" with anyone on the team.4 -
So I'm working on some communications app which bridges the main server/database with some equipment on the field. Now this equipment works in a redundancy pair: two cpus, A and B, both connected via ethernet, one active, the other standby/replicating and no comms on it. One obvious requirement is that when this equipment swaps the active cpus the comms app should switch as well. Fair enough, going with this into testing phase.
This guy, from qa, got some instructions from someone else:
1. Trigger the soft switch from equipment so that cpus got swapped.
2. Remove the ethernet cable from the standby unit.
3. Observe the communications.
And the test goes like: cpu A is active, B is standby. Switch is triggered, B becomes active, A goes into standby. The cable is pulled out from cpu B.
Test result: failed, no comms ever4 -
The shaking animation of FilePond when an upload has failed is not "aesthetic". It just rubs the error into my face. I am already frustrated enough that the upload faaaaaaiiiled (each time when I read "failed" on a computer screen, it sounds like whining to me. Computer/Website: "I FAAAILLED😭😭😭😭😭" OH, CRY ME A _______ RIVER, YOU UTTER LOSER!!!! You are made to WORK, not to 😭F😭A😭I😭L😭. ).
FilePond is nice, but do you think your stupid "oh-so-aesthetic" shaking animation when an upload 😭😭😭FAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIILED😭😭😭 makes me happier? The red gradient at the top and the "Error during upload" text is enough. Two indicators of 😭f😭a😭i😭l😭u😭r😭e😭 already. But this shaking animation is one "straw too much on the camel's back".
Sorry for insincere language. I just had to get this off my chest unfiltered.2 -
A senior dev wrote spaghetti code containing business logic in the fucking controller with some code repeated in a couple of other places.

Ok so i just bought a 256 GB SSD macbook pro and long story short i actually have 200 GB of free space when you take everything that takes up the space.

My goal is to study for 300 hours (coding problems, behavioral, and system design combined) before I start applying for companies.
Is this overkill? Is it enough?
I put a "stop" on my studying since I know there will always be a question that's a "got-ya" or some extremely hard Leetcode question that require some obscure algorithm from college that had 1 figure about it.5 -
Being a woman is terrifying. You walk down the street and realize that EVERY single man is strong enough to physically overpower you, should he want to do to you the thing you don't want. I can't believe it... I am starting to recall a very old TV child's sitcom I used to watch. I have so many memories... I just can't. I'm going to send a sample, it's in Hebrew, but hilarious enough to understand.

"We want to thank you for participating in this process. This time we have decided to choose another candidate..."
AND GET THIS NOW:
"...the only reason was the number of years of experience."

- it's not enough that i have graduated such an extremely hard university
- it's not enough that i have this apparently worthless computer science degree
- it's not enough that i have knowledge
- it's not enough that i have a fuck load of projects done and showcased
- it's not enough that i worked with international clients
- it's not enough that i have the knowledge and skills they're looking for
- it's not enough that i had answered everything correctly on a technical interview
now the new standard is to have minimum 3+ years of working experience on top of all of that.12 -
[CSS]
I'd like to create a fixed aspect ratio box that remains centered in its parent such that two of its sides are always touching the parent. I know about the padding-top hack, the problem is that that won't make the box narrower if the parent isn't tall enough.
Is this even possible in CSS?
I like riddles and I don't expect a solution, but I'd like to know if it's even possible before I spend days researching.18 -
This is really annoying when you’ve good paid job with really good coworkers but you want to change it... I always wanted to be a programmer but when I started my work in IT trade I got job as administrator... several years have passed and now changing my job is a big deal (degradation of my salary to 1/2 of actually). After 6 weeks of coding in VBA (Excel's integrated IDE) the project is nearly finished. When I updated BossMan on it he said "This is really great. I can see the team using this. Is it possible to put it online and have the interface be on the website?"
.... I don't know what to say. This was my initial protest about using VBA but I wasn't vocal enough. Guess what my next project is.
You're right.. porting 2.5k thousand lines of VBA into some form of WebApp.
While I'm exited at the prospect of using a real IDE again I'm angry that I didn't start this was from the beginning.5 -
Me : .. but sir without sass/js compiled, how can we address the issue?
Boss : that is not an issue, issue is with on approach we have taken?
You sick fuck, you take other developers un-finished work, expect me to finish it (which it did) and when the other developer is not smart enough to copy paste the solution, you give an "update" to me, I mean how the fuck, what ever..
I really really put efforts to make this shit happen, I know very little about your commerce cloud shit, but when you question my logic on basis of someone who will pay you to finish her work, it is very unethical and hard to swallow it down.
Maybe this is my first real job, that is why this is so hard, but I gotta do what I gotta do -

What is it with people revealing their support requests like some sort of incremental escape room riddle?
Internal operations escalates an issue to development regarding an error importing a binary file format.
Confusion ahoy and blows out to 5 developers (3 senior) before the OP originally comes back 24h later to note that the client requesting this also added a note to say that the software that produces this binary may have changed formats. But they didn't think seem to think it was relevant enough to include.
Honestly unsure what measure of this is lacking basic common sense or basic human decency. And further astounding that for once the client did the right thing and this was occluded internally.1 -

Mozilla has gone to shit long ago, but this week they somehow have outdone Microsoft on enshitification spree. One post is enough.
My two cents: https://techhub.social/@vintprox/...
Entire thread: https://techhub.social/@mozilla@moz...
Turns out those "Community Calls" they've hosted are just a ploy to damage control Mozilla's first steps into AI crap, back when they added prompts to MDN Web Docs. Fast-forward to today and even most loyal Firefox users should get enraged. Call me surprised (no pun intended).
So, Waterfox and Librewolf it is, then... Or Vivaldi, who cares at this point, really.2 -

There are two kinds of people in the world:

Hi guys, this is my first post, I am currently doing an internship as a backend intern and I'm constantly anxious if I'm good enough I come from a no name college and everybody here is from a top tier college and I constantly worry that I am not on an equal footing as other interns.

You know all those times when you neglected to put anything in those catch blocks?
If this hasn't happened yet, just wait. Soon enough some lunatic's nondeterministic code will randomly break you will have to spend hours figuring out why because you never did anything with that error.
Of course, actually writing code for every mandatory catch block is even more of a waste of time, so empty catch blocks it is!1 -
Ive had it with this job. It it right now the most unthankful job ive had.
There is no thank you, no good morning or evening. No hey how are ya?
All that matters is the 10 deadlines we NEED finished still in 2023. There is too much to do and no time or guidance.
How are we gonna fix this if i keep screwing up everything i touch. How can i do my work if NOTHING is ever good enough in the eyes of colleagues or clients. Im well on my way to burnout and/or depression.
Happy holidays y’all! -

With the advent of everything being a service (read AWS, GCP, Azure) do you think it's time for our education curriculum to incorporate these services at a an earlier stage (say undergrad) since in the industry, this is kind of enough to make a decent living (speaking more from a devops perspective, programmers are still needed I feel)??2

So I have to mimic some codes that I was not given any explanation because it's from a team that is, like, the only one that does not like the others and we have to work with them.
All the teams do codes with similar coding rules
and then there is this team. Weirdly enough, they are the most strict on their rules. -
Was told at work today that I don’t follow directions closely enough and the lack of attention to detail in my work is a problem.
I remember being this way since my first elementary school teacher pointed it out to me. I’ve always been this way. It’s how my brain is wired. No matter how hard I try, I always miss something. Especially when it is a really complex set of tasks. I’ve literally got the results of a cognitive test I took in college documenting and quantifying my working memory deficits.
You think you’ll change that now, after more than four decades of me being like this, with a performance review? Good fucking luck!8 -
I was just asked to make a method for the "logical or" (aka "||") in JavaScript "because it's used multiple times".

I've been in a rut lately... I haven't been programming as much as I used to and haven't had fun/exciting projects to work on. I think most of this is due to a lot of life changes happening at once. Regardless, I have felt super unmotivated lately and want to get back to my happy place -- coding. Have you guys ever experienced this "rut"? Right now my current job is primarily a support position with a bit of development. But it's not nearly enough to feel like I'm advancing my development skills. Any feedback is welcome 😌3

OH GOODY, FUCK MICROSOFT. This last update, killed off my head bud sound, nothing, no fucking sound. Why?????????? I am NOT uninstalling and reinstalling software, fuck that, been there, done that. No, I spend a montly fee for my subscription to office, and I expect this to work, every damn time I am using it. Period. This is bullshit. I think I am going back to mac, I have had enough of this. Enough. Why do they do this??? Why???2

I love what I do, I love designing and building well-crafted software, and so it eats up a lot of my time.
I constantly remind myself that, while being a software developer is a good profession, it is not enough for me. I am focused on building products that offer real value, in return for money. Because, capitalism...
I remind myself that money doesn’t raise itself, technically-excellent networks full of possible partners and employees don’t build themselves either.
Therefore, I force myself to go be social from time to time.
But it is a struggle, that I don’t do a good enough job with! So I’m going to do better this summer -
I'm learning python and I feel more and more like it!
I either have too much space, or not enough. And this is screwing my chance to pick up tabs... -
This team mate of mine always finds a way to escape my suggestions in his pull requests.
Today he told me that what I'm asking him is just my personal preference and that it's not a thing just because our formatter isn't powerful enough to do it automatically.3 -
I tried to post a comment to someone's post and without UI feedback I get the API response in the HTTP request: "Comment not valid". This isn't enough information for me to troubleshoot what is a valid comment.4

ANYONE WHO ANSWERS IS A HERO! Im having a CSS issue and yes I’m a CSS noob! I have a flex box with two columns of data and I want the divs to stack when the screen gets narrow enough. The issue is that I want them to stack ordered by a data attribute. I wrote a media query like this
@media (max-width: 767 px) {
.row { flex-direction: column};
.row div { order: attr(data-ordinal) };
}
I want each of the divs to be ordered by the data-ordinal attribute (a number) when the screen gets at most 767 pixels or on a mobile device. I was banging my head for a while on this assshole. Can anyone find the issue here? I may have left out a few details but does this CSS at least LOOK ok? I’m new to media queries. PS sorry, whats the bot that does the highlighting? I forgot it, but luckily this is simple enough to read26 -
@dfox please unlock all these shitty pixels for everyone so these spamming newbie cunts stop memes and shitty spams to get enough ++ for those shitty pixels.
Not every interaction is good for this community.7 -
Trying to help friend with setting up Code::Blocks so that he can start learning C++. Something is wrong with compiler as when he clicks 'build&run' nothing happens, tried many things, nothing helps. Anybody have any ideas?
I hate setting up those things for myself enough and here I am setting this crap for a friend :/5 -
This should sound like a no-brainer but I need some opinions. Is it worth it to use a pi-top instead of buying a laptop? For programming on the road, i'll just squeeze in a commit while traveling, ill just code instead of talk to my uncle in this reunion, quick commit while le gf is cooking, etc..., purposes? Are the disadvantages worth it enough for the advantages? I was hoping for an overall general programming companion including IoT.4

It is snowing hard here in the mid-West of the States, just wish that we had 4-day work week system since 2 days is not enough in this weather. Wonder how European devs (esp in Germany) enjoy their extra 8hrs?9

Politics isn’t real. The only real thing is the economy, that is and will always revolve around natural resources.
Life on Earth is hell. Living with people is hell. If you’re not experiencing hell, you’re lucky enough to find yourself on a territory that belongs to violent criminals that are stronger than other violent criminals around them. Stronger criminals will always steal resources from/destroy the ecology of weaker criminals, as if we had multiple planets and there was no tomorrow.
It is like this, and it will always be like this, until a major step further in the evolution of human brain.
All hail autism — the best candidate for said step.3 -
So I've had a few rants now about this dumbass legacy Apache Wicket project I'm on.... Latest was that the guy who kind of knew what was going on but was impossible to communicate with is was leaving which meant I'd be inheriting this shit show. I was on leave his last week and he had the task of onboard the new senior.
I get here this morning and meet this guy. Seems a nice enough champ, well spoken (praise be.) First thing the man says to me is that this code is a mess and he doesn't really understand the IP... Yea me too, buddy, me too2 -
Damn it. This WiFi service in the train sucks. Not only they do block so dangerous stuff like Ubuntu packages but it is not even fast / reliable enough to give me stable SSH. NOT EVEN VIA FREAKING MOSH! We are talking UDP and couple of kbytes. Thankfully they let me pay for it after using up my generous 15 free minutes. Suckers.

I am thinking about working on an app using which users will be able to create a survey or a set of multiple choice or sorting in a particular order questions amongst their friends or colleagues and at the end would get a response about which option received the most votes or which is the most preferred order.
The responses will be anonymous even to the creator of the questionnaire.
Is this idea good enough to work on? -
Sometimes I think that TypeScript is like a poor developer's Haskell. I thought "Isn't this supposed to support functional programming?" and searched for a way to do currying or partial application, and only found hackish solutions :/ Then again, maybe I don't know Haskell well enough to make a proper judgment.1

I know this is too late to ask this question, but am a final year computer science student, average in all core subjects with 0 knowledge of web development (except a few html tags, but not enough to make a wikipedia like website) or other professional streams.
I know java and python enough to make oop classes and understand code written in them.
Should i
A)study more about web dev/ml-ai/testing/other "professional" stuff
B) learn more and strengthen my core subjects , like operating system, algorithms, data structures, etc or
C) learn another core language like C/c++/assembly?27 -
I want to code daily. I know that I'm not motivated enough to do so. So I came up with this: Every day I will donate 5€ to some cause, except for when I code that day.
I have no idea if this seems reasonable. What do you think? Is there already a tool for something like this? Do you have some other ideas?4 -
So today I had to fiddle around with obfuscation software to obfuscate software we are going to release....
4 tries in and the software is still crashing with different exceptions each time....
And at the same moment this text came in to my mind:
"If software is working after obfuscation it's not obfuscated enough"2 -
i want to relocate to a peaceful country nd earn some good bucks before coming back to the nightmarish hellhole that is India. i wish my parents were strong enough for a big bold step like this.
i might have enough funds to book a 1 way ticket to poland, Netherlands or some other peaceful place, but didn't got any relatives or knowledge of their local languages or stuff to live properly there.
aagh the meek, gullible life.4 -
In any field, there's a noisy couple of Orthodoxs whining that this or that isn't halal enough and that people who do that are retards. Remember, by gatekeeping your community and abusing outsiders, all they do is to defend their turf.
Those people should die.26 -
How the fuck would u be so fucking stupid enough to create a site with EPiServer/Optimizely and it’s piece of shit organization, community, developers, etc… is this some sort of fresh hell I have been banished to? Why am I cursed with working with this horrible, slimy, awful platform. It’s giving me an aneurysm just fucking thinking about how shitty this ecosystem is setup. Someone needs to burn it. Burn it all to the fucking ground, I have had enough and it is a stain on our society.

I really want to know the thought process behind this PMA error simply saying "Failed to import file".
It's bad enough when user-facing software hides error details to seem less threatening, but PMA is literally designed exclusively to be used by technical people, who know how to handle an error message. -
I've started using azure devops as a project management thing for personal stuff.
This means
1) I've got enough stuff I'm trying to keep track of to warrant an issue tracking system for personal purposes
2) and have worked out that, of all the shit project management options out there, azure is the least shit for my uses.9 -
I once did this project with Apache Tika, which also has a batch module to add concurrency (Tika by itself is not thread-safe).
However, there is maybe 2 pages of documentation which don't explain any of the classes etc, and no javadoc, so I had to figure everything out through trial and error. At the end it still threw an error but magically worked. Turns out it was not fast enough anyway. -
How can it be hat magento, one of "the" eCommerce softwares with a pretty based "cloud" plan and all that, is just offline for "planned maintenance" for TWO DAYS?!
CI/CD?
Cloud?
Dont your customers pay you enough for this basic stuff?
And also the opensource segment ist offline for the whole "maintenance" period.
RANT -
Once again spent a day MacGyvering together all the missing pieces of the app for tomorrows presentation deadline. This time the code base is 95% good code and 5% of dirty hacks which are essential for the rest to function properly.
One day I'll enough time to finish a development cycle on time. One day... -
A question for all of you. What is the best way in CS to earn enough money for a comfortable life standard and where can people go for this?3

Hey guys is there anything we as devs could do regarding this covid-19 situation in terms of our technical skills? Like any project or something for making awareness at global or local level, or some status update regarding various things/items that are affected by this pandemic?
I am looking for ideas or currently ongoing projects that i could contribute to. Currently my tech stack is limited to java, python , android and a little bit of basic data analysis, but i am fluid enough to learn and contribute.4 -
Is it just me that would prefer to work with Senior Engineers rather than mid level engineers?
Some mid level engineers are just pain in the ass. This one guy insist on getting perfection in all of the requirements. The problem is that if you work with software/lib for so long, you realize that most if not all software are buggy or have limitations. You can't expect everything to be perfect. Sometimes something just works/don't work and nobody knows why. Need lots of shortcuts/hacks just to make it work. I would say that 80% completion is good enough, especially since we're running out of time and manpower.
I noticed that Senior Engineers tend to be less strict. If it works then it's good enough, if we found some bugs later then we'll fix it. I like this practicality so we can tackle more important issues at hand.
I hope that I don't have to work in the same project with this guy again.2 -
This is some cool shit:

Now I want to learn how to AI at least enough to understand what they are doing.
People worried about AI replacing programmers when it was the math people software has been replacing.6 -
Okay fine now enough is enough
Yes I declared and assigned the variable after calling the function and it's usage, and yes I copied it directly from a tutorial which had snippets everywhere, and yes I was blind and it took me 4 hours to find this bug, while eating chocolate but that's not important (c'mon I deserve a chocolate) and yes I found it immediately when I was posting a question about it on Stack Overflow.
But please JavaScript, why can't you do some magic find the variable in the whole script?1 -
The name of this game is: Identify the Context.
Found this gem of a quote:
"There is enough space between shaft and belt to sneak."
Now, identify the context!11 -
I got to a point where I have a multi-level recursive promises within loops and my mental map is by far not enough to process this. I wish there were some visualisation tools for this - though I don't even know how it could look like. All I know is that at some point I'm returning a wrong promise and the recursion is not correctly handled.7

I have a side project which contains very simple data (a URL and a list of strings associated with that URL). I would like a way to automatically generate a webpage for each of those links (I believe the right term is template ?). Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this something like Next.js or Gatsby would be used for? I can provide more info if I’m not clear enough8

Hey guys! I was working as a programmer for 3 years now, but I don’t have any diplomas or anything to prove that I can code. However I soon want to relocate from my country, and I was thinking about this: Is it a problem that I don’t have a diploma, or just the acual work experience would be enough for me to get a job abroad?
How is it in your country?4 -
I have to submit a rebuttal in two days I am crying I have no support from PI. I didnot have enough sleep. Anyone has been there this is my first paper in this area of research

Hello, instead of my usual nihilistic fuckery, I actually have a question that you guys may be able to answer.
When uploading images in Chrome this morning I got the two prompts pictured below. One is in google voice, the other is in gmail. I searched online for answers but oddly enough there is nothing satisfactory.
The promp is 'upload failed server rejected.' This problem goes back as far as 2012, but today it happened to me for the first time. Thank you3 -
?rant: a lot of people(including me) hates microsoft for the mandatory win10 updates, but I recently found out that you can block it from group policy. Is this not enough or people just dont know about it?1

Is it possible to get enough money working remotely as a web developer using this Freelance Apps ?1
-
Be interrupted by request for help. Needed help is much more interesting than my main project because 1) need for it is so clear 2) and it's skunkworks without stifling PM oversight. If result of helping is deemed good enough it becomes my main project and old project gets another lead dev or is on hold until I get back to it. Usually this cycle repeats around 1,5 years.
-
Oh yeah, I wanna rant... What is this awful image compression on DevRant?! A lot of time, images posted by ranters are illegible if they contains text. If we are lucky enough, the ranter will then post an Imgur, else... It would be really great to get an image quality equal to DevRant quality... Please!2

Hot take: Rust doesn't go far enough with explicit clone; dropping any type that isn't trivially copiable should also be explicit. I don't mean that it should be leaked if you don't delete it, I mean that the compiler should force you to explicitly say
"I am done with this object, anything that had to know about it has already been notified and either there isn't a single last point of use or it isn't a clone, therefore dropping is justified."
This is the whole meaning of dropping a complex object. I think that this is far too strong a statement to imply in bulk for every value in scope at the end of the function.4 -
Mondays aren't the best time for me.
If it is a lazy weekend, this is the routine:
Sleep most of the morning in, wake up - do things, 10PM, think of some code to work on. 11PM, yeah, enough energy now - lets code! -
Since i started working at this company; 99% of all work was completely new for me. Every god damn time i’m being put on a project i’ve never seen before or worked on. This is so tiring and f’d up. Vacation period is on, we don’t have enough people and the people that are there are on vacation. What projectmanagement? Never heard of it. The actual project manager here is depending on the on developer who is able to keep a bit of an overview.
Can’t complain. I get paid right? And it’s a shithole everywhere. Right?
This is just temporary…. -
Today I found out that memory =/= disk space...
I always referred to disk space as memory. Here's how a casual chat with my friend would be like:
Friend: Hey, you should get this game!
Me: How big is it? 50GB? I Don have enough memory on my laptop for that. -
Feeling a little frustrated lately, just been a few months in this company and its all great, even my boss congratulated me the last week for deliver some well made features but i think i should be learning more and coding faster, im always giving the best i can but its never enough. (Sorry if i mispell something, english is not my native language)1

Last days i’m digging in the legacy of this company. As if the first styleguide i had to work with wasnt worse enough i found two others now that are using different frameworks and are not part of the deployment process.
So far i had fractal, now busy with patternlab and yesterday foundation and the latest one; storybook.
There is duplicate code everywhere how on earth do they expect me to keep any kind of overview in this freaking mess they made?!
