HTML: Hate This Meaningless Life
CSS: Can't Style Shit
JS: Just Shit
Java: Just another vicious asshole
PHP: PHP Hates People
Go: (the "fuck yourself" is silent)
.NET: Now Everybody Thinks (they can code)
I really should find a more productive thing to do on my breaks.19 -
Every user of any app: "damn these annoying ads. I hate ads!"
Average devRant user: "Dfox, add ads please so we can support you more."
What a wonderful community (except those who repost memes). ❤️13 -
I hate the fucking news websites that make you press a "read more" button. Of course I want to read more, that's why I clicked on your fucking article!!16
-
My recent failure to build a responsive website according to a template tells me I should have worked with CSS a bit more.
The thing is, I write the type of CSS that passes the CSS validation with flying colors, but doesn't work as it should. Am I a minority(I hate that word), in that?
Now I have to redo the website or I'm not passing the exam. Lovely.5 -
FOR FUCK SAKE DO PEOPLE THINK BEFORE POSTING!!!
I got a 3 star review on my app and the user said if I implement feature x he will give me 5 stars, what is even more funny is he is requesting it for free!!
I hate this fucked up miserable world -.-28 -
The only thing I hate about being the on call/standby server engineer is that I've got to stay up until midnight.
Right now I'm tired as fuck, just want to go to bed but I'm doing server stuffs because I've got to stay up for more than two more hours 😩
I don't even mind setting an alarm for 3AM to check if there've been any disruptions because I'll fall back asleep like it's nothing but the forcing to stay awake...
Just one more night!12 -
Do we really hate management this much?
(I'm controlling myself... just caught up with a month of Dilbert.... wish I could post more but that would be spammy...)1 -
I hate how one of my hobbies can get me tipsy so easily.
It's really hard to combine it with the working life sometimes 😖😩
I just love special beer(s), it's more than just beer for me, it's a hobby!22 -
!dev
!!misery
I'm drunk, so it's time for some faux-emotional, blunt oversharing. and lots of profanity. It won't be pretty.
------
I'm miserable. I can't sleep at night. When I finally manage to, I sleep like crap. In the morning, early, I get woken up by my children screaming or pulling my hair or jumping on either the bed or me, or talking ad furore, or any number of other miserably unpleasant things that completely prevent sleep. So I'm tired every single day, which totally surprisingly makes focusing on work fucking difficult. Doubly so because the work is fucking uninteresting and the code is awful to read and difficult to understand because it's complicated and often poorly written. And extending it takes enormous mental effort I simply do not have to give. Oh! Guess what my job is?
To make matters worse, time to myself basically does not exist, ever. I wake up, I attend standup, I cook and eat breakfast, I work while fighting against endless distractions and interruptions, I cook and eat dinner, I work some more, and finally: I can go to bed and try to sleep. The next morning, I wake up and repeat this misery, ad nauseam.
Et ad nauseam? Nauseam est nunc.
It's not proper latin, but fuck you. it's good enough. and nobody speaks it anyway.
Ego sum miseriae. Is that good enough for you?
I can't find it in myself to care about anything. I've been doing whatever I can to feel a little more normal, but mostly I just feel numb. If I drink, it helps a little because I notice my misery a little less. That's a great solution right there: drink until I don't care anymore, and keep doing the same shit without even trying to make things better. Why? Because I fucking can't. I hate this house, I hate the lack of quiet, I hate this city, I hate the dust and the clutter, I hate this state, I hate this codebase, I don't like my coworkers, I hate that I can't get a fucking thing done without spending 6x longer than it should, I hate that I can't fucking think of a single thing I want to do, I hate that I can't ever enjoy anything, I hate that I'm beginning to hate myself, and I fucking hate everything else, too.
In short:
I'm not happy. I'm fucking miserable.
And no, I'm not posting this here for you to psychoanalyze me or suggest solutions. It's for me to vent. Fuck your opinions and fuck your advice and fuck you.29 -
It's not that I hate PHP, I just hate the lack of consistency in standard function naming and parameter order, nonsensical attribute access, nearly-meaningless comparison operators, reference handling, case (in)sensitivities, and more!
I mean, look at these functions:
strtoupper(...)
bin2hex(...)
strtolower(...)
And look at THESE FUNCTIONS:
array_search($needle, $haystack)
strpos($haystack, $needle)
array_filter($array, $callable)
array_map($callback, $array)
array_walk($array, $callable)
And let me jUST USE SOME ATTRIBUTES:
$object->attr = "No dollar sign...";
Class::$attr = "GOD WHY";
HOW ABOUT SOME COMPARISONS:
(NULL == 0) // true
(NULL < -1) // ALSO true
Functions AREN'T CASE SENSITIVE (at least variables are).
Wanna dereference? TOO BAD, YOU'LL HAVE TO GET OUT THE TNT.
Alright, yeah, I hate PHP.19 -
I hate it when stupid ideas go public and get a huge valuation. Snap at ~$24b just means more of my mother asking why I haven't made something like that yet and everyone else pitching me their dumb ideas at my birthday party.3
-
I know the hate for Facebook is strong here, but I was just approached to work on their eCrimes team... Catching online predators and the like... I'm honestly considering it, given how much evidence is posted. But it requires so much more programming knowledge than I have... I don't know where to start...27
-
Me: don't limit yourself! Learn more than one thing, experiment and learn more.
Devrant: don't use x. X is a piece of shit and its not worth it. This is better, and you are wrong.
I hate highly opinionated people. Devrant seems to be full of them.
I seriously believe this is why people like AlexDelarge left. Sooo many punchable motherfuckers up in this bitch man.
"Fucking leave then" ----> go fuck yourself. This platform is great. Some of y'all are great. Having frustrated virgins lurking around does not mean that all of us that like fucking around in here needs to leave.19 -
I hate it how our profession became common over the last decade. We're nothing more than factory workers of todays day and age. Just take a look at petty midldle management above you all... and all underpayed and overworked devs out there... Nah, this ain't that glamorous proffesion I dreamed about as a kid.13
-
I hate it when you CTRL-Z half way, try to fix the problem from that point and realise you fucked up. Try CTRL-Zing more and realise you fucked up your chances to get to the point you wanted :). Every single time.6
-
I hate bullshit metrics, they are everywhere.
- 90% unlimited downloads (not unlimited then is it, dickface)
- you are 53% more likely to be noticed with a pro account (yeah, because you fucked with the algorithms)2 -
I fucking hate paperwork. I can't switch to the network team for probably 5 more months because it got lost somewhere. I want to put my degree use!! I'm not doing a damn thing with it at the moment 😭😭😭22
-
Now, I am very shy and introverted.
I have always been that way.
I really hate having to socialize.
I've recently forced myself to talk more to people and it seems to work pretty well.
I may still love my computer more, but slowly I am getting better.4 -
I never made a friend due to code.
Either I fucking hate people if I see their code or I respect them.
But getting a friend because of code seems to me rather unrealistic.
Maybe I could get a female code groupie, if I write code little bit more lovely and sexy.
Ask me again in a year.15 -
You know whom I hate more than apple fanboys, "language" fanboys!
Yeah...that's a thin now.
(I'll post the whole story when I reach my room)8 -
I just hate it when clients with no knowledge of developing says I'm looking for "more professional"
FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Somebody did that with dedication and you can't just call it that!!
SCREW YOU!!!
😡😡😡😡😡15 -
!(!rant)
So I wanted a raise and the only way was becoming a software lead.
With that title you get more money but also more responsibility, so you have the last word in technical decisions, you review architecture, do tech interviews, guide the less experienced, etc. I can handle that, even as introverted as I am.
What nobody told me was that I was going to spend my whole time on fucking meetings, one after another, I have not touched my IDE in days, I hate this shit already.
Careful what you wish for they say, so true, I'm stuck here and I hate my job now, probably going to quit as soon as I recover my life, if ever.4 -
Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with coding. On one hand, I can feel on top of the world when something works the way I want it to. On the other hand, coding can make me feel more incompetent and depressed about my life than anything else. I would never want to do anything else with my life, but it's really tough when the thing you love is also the source of a lot of self-hate.1
-
Got an 8:30 class in the morning.
Me: so close to fixing this bug. Just a bit more.
12:00 am
Me: I'll just install SQL and head to sleep.
1:00 am
Me: holy crap what time is it.
1:30 am
Me: I hate myself.1 -
The more I visit a wide range of sites, the more I hate obnoxious cookie policy pop ups. The ones that take 2/3 are UN-FUCKING-NECESSARY.
Web devs that make them like this can you please tell me why?12 -
Why I hate internet media, because it's full of articles such as:
9 tips to make you lose weight faster
13 ideas on how to improve your sex life
8 ways to make you happy when you are sad
47 funny images that make you laugh
8482929 articles that use a pointless number as a headline starter
I admit that these articles are way more tempting to click than if they did not use that number. On the other hand, the number is just random, it only describes the extent of the article. I so hate it.2 -
I really hate fucking Wordpress!
I hate it's stupid API, with it's stupid hooks and actions and all those stupid functions and no fucking logic to any of it!
I hate it's stupid plugin system, with all that fucking overhead that brings no real value and adds all that complexity for nothing!
I hate stupid fucking multiple calls for the same fucking assets, loading them over and over again because every stupid plugin calls them again and again!
I hate motherfucking SHORTTAGS, or whatever the fuck they are called!
I hate that every stupid fucking plugin and shortcode and fucking every little fucking piece of HTML comes from a different fucking place, with different fucking structure and different fucking classes and stupid fucking loading seaquences that make no fucking sense!
And I hate fucking page builders !!!!!
Fuck!!!!
I should be fucking coding on this fucking peace of shit, but I just cannot fucking take it any more!!!
IT NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE!
It should be relegated to the darkest corners of the internet and all the servers that have it's fucking code anyware on their systems should be disconnected and buried in the deepest pits of hell, just to be sure it never, EVER, surfaces again!!!
AAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!5 -
Hate how every time I have an ubuntu box meet inode limits is always due to Linux Headers... Boss wanted me to add more storage to his box because he was at capacity..
apt-get autoremove
Drive went from 100% usage to 39%..9 -
Fuck you EU,
thanks for making every electronics project I do much more expensive in the future by taxing me for something that I can't buy anywhere inside the eu for a reasonable price. Congrats. You made it unaffordable for me to do the one thing I had fun doing. I hate you.28 -
Me: I fucking hate people using proprietary data formats when there is something more than capable already...
Also me: *Spends an hour designing file structure for a proprietary image format* Hmmm... How can we trim even more bytes off this...
(Designing the format to be smaller than a typical PNG and make it easier to load in data programatically)8 -
maybe I'm really pedantic, but I fucking hate people who write code without a consistent form or style... putting spaces or breaks randomly or not at all is SO fucking annoying and I'm wasting time converting it to a more readable form... THEY FUCKING COULD HAVE DONE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR FUCK SAKE!!13
-
I hate handling DNS issues... every time I try to explain how DNS works, users come back even more confused.
-
... no longer on call. Am on hour 12 of a call that has a few more hours to go and have handled 3 others today. Coworker is on hour 36 of a cal with possibly 24 more to go. And 3rd is finally eating as he missed meals all day for more calls than i can count. Who the fuck decided they hate us and want us to die these deaths????5
-
For all the hate going around about microsoft i just wanted to list things microsoft has done a great job at (imo of course):
windows 10
powershell
microsoft office
minecraft
xbox
microsoft edge
probably more so don't hate for the hell of it.20 -
Pandemic achievement: I slept early and woke up early too! Fuck yeah!
... Tho I did dream of an old-crush-who-I-hate-now and then of my friend breaking her leg, so I'm not sure, but hey, more hours in the day! 😁
Now, first going for food shopping and then I'm off to work.💃14 -
The more I play with C, the more I realize why many people hate C++.
I like the amount of control and the simplicity. No unnecessary syntax sugar, and the code is very straightforward to read.11 -
I got my first offer letter and they gave me more than my asking salary. I have been waiting for a year and half for this moment. Nothing can kill this feeling. I have been doing jobs I hate for my whole life. And finally I am able to do what I want and kick off my career. This is awesome.3
-
I hate it when my manager lurks around when i am debugging and keeps giving random unsolicited advices. I spend more time explaining him why what he is saying does not make any sense than debugging.3
-
I hate SQL Server so much, don't matter how Microsoft say they improve themselves at SQL Server.
There's a lot of fucking bloat, messes your system and your services, adds tons of crap in your system registry, while more advanced SQL engines such MariaDB/PostgreSQL are more contained, and its very small.
Why SQL Server has to mess with Windows' ACL and his own privilege systems?.
Uninstall it and a lot of components remain hidden and tons of registry entries, not even TotalUninstaller or CCleaner can help.
I hate it since my technical high school and my goddamn college is forcing us to use SQL Sever for EVERYTHING, instead of good alternatives, messed my computer entirely requiring to format.
I try always to convince my freelance clients to use open-source alternatives, and say how SQL Server is so crap, (i had variant degrees of success).13 -

When I got to learn about json yesterday I hate it cause I need to do extra work to MVC project. But after today the instructor told us what it does, and I love it. Gonna start learning this stuff more tomorrow1
-
Honestly, i hate math or actually i hate that i suck at it. I graduated CS and if u put a math problem any bit more advanced than basic linear equations i will turn red. I wish i was good at it. I think if i was, id be able to do much more cool shit because combining math and the ability to control a computer basically makes you a demi god.
If i had some free time i’d love to go over the basics on khan academy or something. But free time doesnt come by a lot coz we’re too busy trying to make money and id rather just rest and chill when it does.
Tho if a cute girl offered to tutor me in that free time i’d definitely say yes 🧐15 -
Google -> Niantic -> shit
Hate them for biting off more than they can chew, they successfully fucked up two of their games, now they are launching the third one.. Can you just fix the stuff you fucked up before you continue with new stuff?? Okithxbye9 -
My productivity has become 2x or more lately not because I like my job, but because I hate it so much that I want to get rid of it as soon as possible. Every fucking element about this job can make me vomit.3
-
Why the FUCK can’t I deploy a cordova app to my phone from VS, god fucking damnit all, I hate mondays!
*30 minutes later*
Well shit, the USB cable was only connected to my phone, not my PC...
*sobs and goes to grab more coffee*2 -
Mom: "so... you do things with the computer, but what do those things do?" or "I have no clue what you just said, but good luck with that"
Father: "couldn't you have gotten a real job? Like machining or warehouse management, where actual work can be seen rather than sitting on your &ss all day, typing on that keyboard"
- he changed his view real quick when I showed him my paycheck. ($3/ hr more than him)
Brother: "cool"
Ex-gf: "I hate you" (more because of my starting pay)3 -
>dad nagging to learn python
>i hate python
>cuz i hate snakes
>whatever
>so started learning it
>with some awesome video tutorials
>even though i like the instructor
>i find the language
>boring
>uhh
>why do u use this?
>oh and you say it is easy 4 begineers
>oh good
>then why does only
>del keyword gets highlighted in pycharm
>just to look cool i guess
>lua is way better
>hope lua is more used than python
>and more supported
>but i still like C#
Moral: C# rocks10 -
Sweet lord jesus I fucking hate React! I hate whatever those idiots at facebook or whoever decided to change how everything works 15 fucking times in the span of 4 versions. For fuck sakes, the errors are shit. The documentation is shit, the answers to questions are useless!
I hate this fucking framework with a burning passion, I want nothing more than to shove the entirety of the populous that developed this garbage up zuckerburgs ass and then drown him in a vat of boiling piss and motor oil.
Fuck react.17 -
The more I look into Windows 11 the more I hate it. There's just 1 (one) more thing that's wrong with it every time I look.
It's a security and ethical nightmare. I almost wish I didn't specialize in computer recovery & cybersecurity.
So thankful that my high-end gaming-built PC is apparently "not compatible" with Windows 11. Oh, you don't want to break my computer and ruin my entire life? That's actually a complement, man.17 -
Windows you dense motherfucker! Now you come with two different fucking candy crush games and some fucking disney piece of shit botnet useless game consuming an entire GB of precious ssd space?? What the flying fuck i swear i hate this piece of junk more and more every day.
Furthermore, i got my motherboard replaced the other day since it suddenly died and now i cant boot into linux anymore since windows decided it's the only os to live on my laptop? Fuck off3 -
Anyone else get Stockholm syndrome for languages? Like you gotta use a language you hate for something and the more you use it, the more you warm up to it?7
-
Enough!!
There is to much hate in the world already without hating on Windows because you are a Linux user, or vice Versa.
All I'm reading is windows is shit! Linux is for supreme devs.
More to life than hate! Respect each other's skills. Skills are like race all are unique and no one race is superior and don't discriminate because of skills.31 -
One more reason to hate Windows - Changing default browser will be made difficult in Windows 11. Thank you Microsoft
https://theverge.com/22630319/...14 -
git commit message that I hate:
1. "Adjustment"
2. "Improvement"
3. "Fix Bug"
4. "I commit it but there are bug in this code"
5. "Client request"
YOU KNOW BE MORE SPECIFIC ON YOUR COMMIT MESSAGE!!!9 -
Fuck the new ECMAScript 2018 specifications.
https://youtu.be/s-G_RZ4RJLU
I mean seriously? How the hell is dot syntax gonna make it more readable?
Also, i love the brackets, braces and semicolon. Hate to see them deprecated.
Almost gave me a heart attack and my head was boiling watching it.
😓😌6 -
I like coding in a way that anyonr who comes into my code base can understand whats going on. That way more people can maintain the code base.
However, I HATE having people in my code base. Since they leave shit undocumented, and have 10 variables called "data" "items" "o" "p" and another 20 methods called "processData" "convertItem".1 -
For fuck sake ... please make sure the logged in user is actually fucking authorized to see that orders info!! Very few things I hate more than being able to change the OrderID parameter in a URL and see somebody else’s order information.
-
Everyone hates CSS
I'm a full-stack dev, I was considering CSS really hard to deal with for a long time. I have some friends who are bad at design and barely know how to use CSS and hate it.
Last year, I decided to learn CSS again after 6+ years of web development.
If you are a developer but hate CSS. maybe you should give it more time and learn it the right way.30 -
What is this hate towards fullstack developers ? I suppose more you know the better ? I think you can specialize later, based on your work task.
Fullstack is the way for learning addicts as me.11 -
I feel like I have to boot into Linux before making a screenshot of something in order to get more ++ because people love Linux and (most) hate Windows.7
-
Weather Report: Thunderstorms and heavy downpour
Stuck at office wondering whether I really hate tab more than spaces that it wore out OR is it that I use it way too much.
PS: Currently fixing the tab button10 -
I fucking hate malls.
People don't walk in any regular pattern or at the same speed. Full of smelly kids and their dumbstruck parents. I REALLY do not understand how some choose to spend their time at the mall as a recreational activity (other than going with a specific destination in mine, like the cinema). Whenever the circumstances force me to wonder around one for more than ten minutes, for me it's the equivalent of several hours of work, energywise.
Generally I hate people, but malls are the places where I hate them the most. Fuck!4 -
I'm afraid if I post any more rants about how much I'm hating this job search, someone might actually start planning for my murder.12
-
Employer uses IBM Software, which forces me to use Eclipse. I hate eclipse. Hate is a hard word. I'd never say, I really 'hate' a person. But eclipse, eclipse is what I hate. I can look at my smartwatch and see my heartrate rising, just thinking of how the fuck any developer on this crappy planet would ship that bullshit IDE. That saying, I'm totally fine with some bugs, using windows and so on, but eclipse... Is this a get-more-contributors strategy? Holy moly it really kills me. Hey, let's just open that maven Proj.. Oh, crash. Hey, let's install that "bug-free" version of the maven-integratio... Oh, crash. Let's do a global search over my worksp.. Oh, freezed. Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! How can this be legal? I mean, seriously, most junoir devs I know, just use Eclipse, because they don't know of any other "better" IDE (VIM would be better, even notepad). Is there anyone sucking professors cocks / vaginas to get them introduce that crap IDE to students?2
-
Hate it when I spend more time on documentation than actual coding. I know documentation is for our own good. It still annoys me to death.6
-
There's nothing that I hate more than UML diagrams. Shit is so out dated and I have yet to talk to a company thats even heard of it let alone use it. Biggest waste of time and money in the world6
-
Why the php hate?
Just started learning it today and it seems really powerful and pretty simple, I’m excited to learn more..10 -
New year is the only +1 I do not give a fuck about. All it means is I am one year closer to death, so I will smoke one more cigarette after the last, one more cup of coffee with far too much sugar, and I will keep coding one more line after the other, and frankly it is just to distract me from the fact that there is always another +1, one more person to hate, one more word spoken, all so I can get to through one more year. So fuck the new year because there will always be another. But I won't always get a +1 on a rant.5
-
I really hate api response variable names like this. I mean why type "targetitemid" when "target_item_id" is so much more readable?8
-
Really hate when people say development for Linux is really difficult, especially when it comes to game development and porting engines...
It really isn't, it's no more difficult to bloody windows and personally think it's easier than Mac development. Worse comes to, mono exists and is pretty damn stable, getting something ported to Linux really isn't as difficult as people try and make it out to be -,-15 -
I was struggling to make advancements in my task because I was so oriented by the "more code means more work done"... I wasn't producing at all. Now that I grabbed a notebook and a pen and started to think things through, things are finally rolling. Sometimes it's 90% thinking and 10% coding. In addition to that, I can't even write spagetti code after getting a solid concept written in pen. I just hate that I spend so much time thinking until something good comes up. But hey now it's rollinnnnnn.undefined pen productivity less is more notebook efficient implementations mean more puzzles work smart not hard4
-
I'm sure more than 50% of the Devs who claim to hate PHP either don't use it, or only claim to hate it because, well, you know... it's the Dev way.12
-
Absolutely hate it when HR says: "You'll be told about the outcome of this interview in the next two weeks".
What about putting in place a more stringent timeline for recruitment processes at your company?
What the fuck am I supposed to do for two bloody weeks?8 -
So this i quite a big project, hundreds of files everywhere, pages are rendered using multiple files.
This is one of the latest created page, it was made by my boss, and it just give me the creeps.
I REALLY don't know how he always comes up with shit like these.
I just hate having more than 5 closing tags in sequence...6 -
Me when after a client has signed a spec document and they still try to add more features. Cannot find words to explain how much I hate scope creep.2
-
There was this motherfucker searching a dev to build a vue component on freelancer.
I applied. 🙄
Then he started to ask me out about Upwork. How he wants to use my account through TeamViewer. And how he will pay me for this monthly.
Why am I magnetic to idiots and scammers? Can some one please Avada Kedavra all idiots? I will pay you monthly. I swear.3 -
Don't you hate it when your team lead sucks and you know more about management and development than he does?5
-
Fucking Windows 10 forces me to install 'creator's update', messing my morning in which I got to office earlier than normal to be more productive! I really hate Microsoft's products.9
-
A few months ago I ranted about how my first encounter with Assembly was hopefully the last one
Here I am, again, with my second Assembly encounter. However, this time I'm able to read and understand it more, such that I'm even able to compute stack layouts. I don't even hate it that much anymore.
I guess I'm walking the path I couldn't defeat
*cries in %rax*6 -
I hate this trend. Take up the whole screen for one big nothing. Yep, 1920x1080 is apparently not enough to show me more than motto, one link and freaking big image nobody care about.
Fuck, i must code it. Oh damn, there is 8 same sections on the whole page. Don't worry, not a single one of them worth reading! FUCK YOU designers!14 -
Question: is it common to a developer to have lots of tasks to do at the same time, so you don't have sure what you need to do first, specially when you have 2 or more urgent projects?
That is one of the things I most hate on managing.8 -
New office saga continues... SE1E05
I transitioned from a B2B to B2C role. Now the company and the product is entirely consumer facing.
Many or rather all are actively engineering the product to be more and more dystopian in nature.
Using concepts like FoMo, social validations, and other techniques to get users to spend more into consumerism in the name of building better experience.
It's the darkest shit I have seen so far. And this company is ethically a great one. I can only imagine how pathetic Meta and others would be.
I hate ny role. I hate how I have to do this for a living. Knowingly or unknowingly, I got myself here and absolutely hate where we are headed as a human race.
I don't like it anymore and I am only doing it as a job. No longer proud or excited of my job profile.
Fuck the impact, technology will be a catalyst for human extinction.
And with that, I found a good solution to my Mac 😏
Do check: https://reddit.com/r/Unexpected/...7 -
I hate how Sketch has become a standard in design when it only supports a single platform.
What i hate more is that state "regrettably" on their website but won't fucking do anything about it.
If you want to be treat seriously, get your shit together.3 -
JS frameworks.
it's great how most are easy to use and very useful.
i dont know why people hate this abundance of choice, if theres too many for you to chose than you need to be more decisive.5 -
You ever have to work with people that are worse than you? and yet everyone in the group sees them as more competent? So much so that they get to be involved more with the projects than you are?
I hate this feeling, I'm just as good. -
I don't know who I hate more, regular thieves or crackers.
I think the second ones more, because they don't even have the balls to risk in person…
To whoever decided to throw away one week of my life, which I spent in a dark office in July importing a fucking WordPress website, FUCK OFF!
I fucking hate WordPress, I fucking hate migrate websites with it and also dealing with incompatibilities in 30+ plugins and templates that doesn't work properly (Avada, best seller? For being shitty maybe), and now every time I will have to do it I will think about how much I hate you, the bastard who decided to drop those shitty database tables.
And I'm sorry but we won't send you bitcoins just because you watched a tutorial on YouTube and used a vulnerability in phpMyAdmin, so the only think you earned is my hate for you!8 -
I hate it when the college gives priority to project report than project. I fucking hate it. Line spacing, fancy borders, font size, institutional logo, who the fuck cares? All I care is what work is going on and what have we learnt from it. Fuck these faggots. For the past week I am more of a typist than an engineering student.
I got even angrier when the evaluators did not even open and go through the report.

Ladies and gents, it was a 🍺 day, today.
I spent more hours than I care to say today tracking down an issue in our web workflow, even looping in our only web dev to help me debug it from his side. There ended up being multiple bugs found, but the most annoying of them was that the json data being pulled back was truncated because a certain someone, in their migration script, set their varchar variable to a size of 1000 and then proceeded to store a json string that was 2800+ characters in length.
C'mon man!
I got nothing productive done today. Hate, hate, hate days like this!
Beer me.3 -
Decided it was time to grit my teeth and actually bunker down and learn a bit of C++...
Im 1 hour in and hinestly am not sure whether I hate Pyton or C++ more at this stage .-.20 -
New programmer who just pick up Python be like , C is shot , is bad , python better blablabla....
Why anyone hate C so much? I personally use C for Embedded Programming, for hardware or is better compare to using python for my case.
I love python , but I love C more. Because without C the rest don't exist. Right?
So stop hating on C. Because you might use it someday.17 -
Most useless feature?
Any this business seems to think is the next great way to make their lives easier - by adding 500 more steps into an already complex series of cowboy processes.
I love and hate my job some days 🤦♂️1 -
Being lazy taught me more about (code) automation that years of study ever did.
“Ugh! Updating translations is boring, why do I have to do this manually?”
“Damn I really hate having to remember endpoints”
“Oh, come on! Its the third time I initialise this the same way!”
I’d love to say this is a motivational speech or something but no, im just lazy lol2 -
God I hate my job I hate my job I hate my job.
I know that you are supposed to make more than what you have been hired in the first place today, especially in tiny company, but I expected to code a little bit...
This week, all I have to do is to deep-etch pictures in photoshop, send packages, answer the phone, do the SEO and be the community manager on Facebook. No time to code at all.
I just have to stay till august, then I will finally be able to switch company. Please make it fast...6 -
I fucking hate design agencies and everything related to fucking design!
Today we received an email from design agency asking us to put two images next to each other so that they can compare and see which one fucking fit better!
What is the difference between these two images:
first one has 28points of text size while the other one has 26 points ...
one more reason to hate this fucked up world!undefined agency design please leave this planet no one likes you what the fuck is wrong with this world fuckwholes please forget my email4 -
You see that, over there?
That massive, 10-ton bag of dicks sitting there in the corner?
Secure Code Warrior can eat that ENTIRE FUCKING THING!
SO many flaws in their tests... SO much HIGHLY questionable content... utterly RIDICULOUS bullshit code with no comments and no context... asking me fucking Angular questions when I'm doing an Express test... two answers that are IDENTICAL... and a busted-ass site on top of it all.
I hate this motherfucking bullshit SO much, and at this moment I hate my employer even more for forcing me to deal with it.
But, hey, I hope you enjoy no work getting done today since you seem to prefer I do this instead, so I guess I'll just scare my dog some more as I yell about this bullshit.
Fuck you Secure Code Warrior, fuck you very, VERY much.7 -
I hate chome OS.
I'm sad to say that because of my school I've used it more than Ubuntu. Chrome really takes the fun out of Linux. I want to access the terminal, but in chome the terminal is an extension's WEBPAGE which got BLOCKED.1 -
Didn't want to go to my router and disconnect it to reset, so I've just cut the power with the breaker, I do really hate that power cable positioning on the router body, so much that the breaker is actually a good 15 feet more to walk, but saved me from having to fiddle around with that barrel connector.16
-
Don't you just hate it when you have some of the best programmers in the office with you, but none of them can fucking spell! Imagine having to spend more time decoding comments than actual code8
-
I'm on my train, leaving after my last day of work. I didn't hate that job, quite the opposite actually, but Im sure the new job will give me more opportunities to grow professionally.
Now I'm just sad I'll miss all of the familiar faces, and all the usual things I was doing.
So many emotions and I don't even know where to start.
Oh and I'm drunk too.1 -
While everyone hates on Windows for getting updates and having to restart it.... I hate on FileZilla for receiving way too many updates and also having to restart it... more than Windows...7

I hate my company more and more everyday. 1. Release on Friday afternoon. 2. I should be home but that bitch decided that she wants to change something now, because she forgot to do that before. Of course, this shit cannot wait until Monday.4

A toss up between Apple and Microsoft...
Apple I use to love because I used an iPhone exclusively and loved iOS but the more and more I moved into the cloud. The more and more I started hating the lack of online tools like word processing and the like so eventually led me to disliking them but now I hate them exclusively because of there hardware fragmentation, the lack of consistency between there hardware really irritates me...
And Microsoft came from in an instant, I use to love windows and use it exclusively but as soon as I discovered Linux and got my first taste of it through Ubuntu I started hating windows compared to Linux but now I hate the company because of their two faced ways, will state they support the open source community yet only throw actual support when they clearly can't be beaten and give in...
(Can feel the hate coming my way so all good!)3 -
So I really hate iOS programming. I'm in school and all my devices for dev are Microsoft based and fuck trying to use hackintosh. So now I have to waste more of my time and gas money going to school to use the stupid fucking imacs to Develop in a language I have 0 interest in. Fuck apple, fuck iOS, and fuck swift!3
-
I hate Apple since they dropped OpenGL and Nvidia support. My question to them:
WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PURPOSE OF DROPPING IT? YOU ARE JUST GETTING MORE HATE10 -
i hate windows errors so much
there's no information whatsoever, its just "error code 0x696969 lmao something wrong try again later"
what i hate even more is asking microsoft forums what the error code means and being asked if ive tried turning it off and on again6 -

Been here since 2/2017 and didn't make myself an avatar. I feel ashamed.
Edit: I hate the MM/DD/YYYY format. More shame on me that I did not notice it was in retard format.4 -
Sometimes, I really want to throw any PC or server out and just have a more simple life
I guess that working with something you love, makes you starting to hate it.4 -
Cooking.
Murderous cooking.
Anger management cooking.
Joke aside, I mostly have no clue what I'm doing.
Cooking and gardening (sadly no longer a possibility) are two thing where my brain goes out and I just do it.
It has happened more than once that this has failed... But most of the time it goes surprisingly well.
I'm absolutely not an accurate or refined cook.
I hate cutting stuff "even sized"… I hate when it looks perfect. I hate swiping off drops of the plate so it looks more refined....
So yeah, it might look like puke. But it's tasty. XD11 -
Microsoft buys npm
Am I the only one seeing a tendency of a few big companies (Microsoft, Apple, Google, Yandex, Tencent and 10-15 more) slowly (or not so slowly) acquiring more and more small companies? I hope however that it stays as transparent to the end user; I also hope it even helps, because I hate getting used to a product/service and then the company dropping it because they have no resource and/or interest in supporting it (Google Inbox anyone?)6 -
Nothing I fucking hate more than working without any sort of specification then being asked to change something multiple times because no one has any defined functionality.1
-
Who of you play/like Tabletop RPGs more than computergames RPGs?
I personally hate it when i dont have the freedom to be the character I want to be in a digital RPG.
So I started looking into Dungeons and Dragons a few years back and finally decided to start playing Pathfinder because it was gaining more and more popularity.
So do you play tabletop RPGs, if so how did you get introduced to it?12 -
That I really hate svn.
It is completely useless compared to git and I can not understand why one would use it for any project with more than two people.7 -
I hate this so much! I clicked the link because I wanted to see what was on the other side! I know I'm leaving YouTube, and if you want me to stay so that I spend more time on your shitty platform, just make it target="_blank".2
-
I just hate wordpress. Whenever I have to touch it, makes me nervous.
This time I just have to put some html/css. I was thinking it's piece of cake.
Couldn't be more wrong. This fucker is adding extra tags to my code fucking up what made...1 -
I hate it when we are discussing a feature and they ask me "what do you think?" after they said how would they go about it and i mention that i would do it differently and think that my way may be longer now but can pay off in the long run and they decline it.
What i hate even more is that after some period they revesit their decision again and come to conclusion that my way is better and now we (i) need to rewrite it but without acknowledging that i said it then and was the best solution.
AMMA KILL SOMEBODY IN THIS BISH RIGHT TF NOW!!10 -
I wouldn't say any programming language has a function I hate. More like a strong dislike for the groupies.
Although, I mostly hate Perl as a whole.4 -
When you know your product sucks and even you won't support it. Too bad for those two windows phone users left in the world.
Working on a Project. Forced to use xaml I hate xaml. C# is so much more efficient/ easier. Now at least I have an excuse

Stupid fucking client force us to deploy our nodejs codebase on windows server fucking 2016 because that the only version their security team has audited, and in their word: "open source oses like linux are more vulnerable because anyone can contribute????"
I fucking hate digital transformation projects with a passion because of stupid fucking client with their stupid fucking red tape problems7 -
Don’t you hate it when you realize that although your latest websites loads fine from your laptop; it takes more than a full second to load it from some location on the other side of the planet?2

I don't get all the hate for Javascript, or I might be spoiled with ES6 and React clouding my judgement. :P
I could write web pages in Javascript all day long. It's better in my opinion then writing pure HTML and CSS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe I'm more cut-out for full stack dev work then I thought...3 -
So today I've had the idea of implementing Node.JS in Python because I love Node.JS but sometimes I hate the whole ".JS" part of it. It will be a fantastic learning exercise with TCP sockets and such, and will be good for learning the more intricate parts of Python as well.
Excited for Nodepy!9 -
I never liked YAML. But lately, I'm starting to dislike it more and more.
I mean, wtf is that?
- digest YAML input -- a valid YAML
- digest JSON input -- a valid YAML
A language that embeds another language.
Can it be any more confusing..?
Sure it can. the
```
script:
- echo "John said: hello there"
```
will fail YAML linter, because, even though I used quotes, yaml sees `echo "John said` as an object key
I think I'm yet to find more nonsense with YAML. And eventually, I'll grow to hate it.8 -
When you hate ur job so bad and secretly apply to a new one, do two interviews, then reduce 400$ from what u said ur expected salary was because youd rather die then use wordpress one more time.7

One thing that I hate more than anything else in what I do: Waiting
Whether it is compiling, training, loading, IDE indexing or building I just despise it. It gets me out of my flow and forces me to be bored and often unable to do anything else because my pc is busy6 -
Agencies... Just hate when people are given only time enough for doig crap code, because "there is no budget". Hate even more to work on changes on top of it, because people just dont get why you take so long to do changes that supposed to be simple, ignoring the fact that previously they asked for some slap-dash shit. What do they think, that with time the code cleanup and tidy up itself?
-
I am so bored with my job in Devops, I only need a few dirty scripts to run everything...
So much so that I started to search for C++ jobs (going back to my previous background), even though I hate C++.
At least it's going to be more mentally stimulating, they also tend to be paid higher than Devops.5 -
Everybody when a forced update is released: "I hate forced updates!! They can't force me to do shit!!"
Everybody when a massive ransomware attack happens: "You should've updated when the update came out, so you aren't vulnerable!"
If they made the fix for the WannaCry vulnerability forced, the attack wouldn't have been as big as it was.
Confession: I wish they made more forced updates :/
Also, I'll probably get a lot of hate about this...3 -
3days later i have an interview in a company, i messed up first one😂😎
but i study more again i hate making mistakes. -
I hate the overuse of arrow function everywhere even for super long expression. that `function` should fit to them more comfortably .
writer of code should aware that it take three time more to read expiration with arrow function inside5 -
I think I mentioned this before but I hate recruiters that send me a f*cking long email to fill instead of a form like a normal person.
Today I got one of those and his excuse was that it saved time on the call to ask more. He mentioned to just copy and fill it using his format.
I can't believe these people still exist. -
I like wallpapers, but I hate having to download them by hand. So I made a Python script.

"Yep, I think I finally see the end of the project, we will be able to finish this, I just quickly need to add a simple UI on top of it and a simple admin page" - what this usually meant, that I am nowhere near anything usable, I have just created the database structure. What would have happened, if I would have actually been honest with my bosses and would have asked for more help? 😟2

Just logged into clients hosting account with host gator. I'm greeted with masses of adverts and up sells.
Few mins later I login to clients go daddy account. Yet more adverts and overly invasive up sells.
I hate bulk cheap hosts like this :/

One of the things I like about Web Development is its WYSIWYG-ness.
Another thing that I love-hate about it is how 80% (more or less) of the time you don’t see anything happening on screen and then suddenly it all comes together. (This goes mainly for Frontend stuff.)
Aah! The joys and sorrows of Web Development.12 -
I hate this joke. It makes zero sense; not something I'd expect to see all over an app for devs!
A factory creates something, if I already have a problem, why would I need a factory to create more?3 -
Well payed co-worker is always crying about others salary being more than his...Fucking hate that guy. Remember he is just a fresher and is being paid way more than he fucking deserves. Today he exploited someone to gain access of other co-worker's pay scale information and kept obsessing over it all day long...!
Fucking prick is going to get away with it...And I can't do anything about it...!!!4 -
Love writing comments, hate writing documentation.
Ugh, I know it is needed but just don't care about it as much as the code/comments which is a more direct 'here is what this does' approach. Writing idiot proof documentation sucks. Any little change? Have to remember to update the docs. Yeah, not happy.1 -
Never understood the hate for regular expressions, it's just one more useful tool in my eyes. Anyone want to weigh in?9

Is it just me or does anyone else hate the "MORE RANTS" feature/option of Devrant.
Can't we simply have a scrolling featuring with never-ending set of Rants the same way as reddit does??

Someone may love water if all they know is a pool, or they may hate water if all they know is an ocean.
— a thought on why some take to programming more than others -
boss: numbers being aside. Why is this happening 40% of the time.
me: (thinking) wtf what an idiot. wtf do you think?!
type: (politely) Well the number being wrong suggests it's *not* happening 40% of the time.
I don't know who I hate more, myself for not point out how dumb that question is. or the person asking the question. -
Had the occasion to put my hands on Tailwind CSS. Terrible sauce. Pastas taste aweful with it. I can't see myself working one more day like this.
I hate trends. -

It’s the indian clients everytime!!
I myself an Indian and still I am saying this, Indian clients are the worst.
I had more or less 4 clients from my own country india and literally everyone of them were the worst.
Irony is as an Indian myself I hate to work with typical Indian clients.11 -
Learn Rust and Elixir because of my hopefully new and exciting role. I want to become production ready developer for these languages as quickly as possible. But more than anything I want my new role not making me hate my profession.
And also I would like to start a long duration relationship. Can’t have it all though.3 -
im new to programming and teaching myself the more i learn the discouraging it becomes. P.S do the guys at stack overflow hate noobs or 'rookie mistakes' because for a community that is supposed to be about answering questions they sure do seem to hate it when I ask them6

I really hate it when people ignore the messages I sent on slack
I don't mention you or the damn @channel for show
There is some shit that needs to get done, and I even hate it more when they ask me for something I already said on slack

I hate Mondays. I hate Mondays even more if everything went wrong. F**k this day. Tomorrow is a new one.

Do you ever feel like coding is like gambling, when working on personal projects? "Just one more small change, I'm sure it'll work after that"...suddenly it's 3am, the damn thing still doesn't run, I have a meeting at 9, and I hate myself.1
-
I love writing my styles with Stylus but I really hate Every second I have to work with CoffeeScript or Jade. The purpose is great, but it's so ugly and really splits the community doing more damage than good from my perspective. So ugly!3
-
The more I learn frontend the more I like it. Imagine, actually becoming good at something makes you hate it less! I know, I know, I was shocked too.
Completely unrelated question:
if you have all the mods for the factors of a product, is it possible to derive the factors from the modulus?
(lol you know what this is about).
The product "fingerprinting" I talked about a while back is starting to allow me to find the modulus of factors, and I want to know what I can do with that if anything.3 -
I hate managing interns at my company more than half of my day goes into solving their silly issues and the rest i work on shitty small stuff. And the worst thing is they get to do all the machine learning and user behavior analysis stuff, in which i have more insight on. Being a full stack developer it sucks managing other devs. 😔5
-
The code of conduct is a good thing. It doesn't persecute cis white men. All it does is tell you not to harass people on the basis of traits they cannot control. You say you only care about code quality and nothing else? There's a whole untapped market of talent from women and lgbtq+ people who stay the fuck away because of toxic communities. When you call people faggot it makes them not want to contribute to your codebase.
Linus stepped down of his own volition to try to become a more constructive voice. Heaven forbid the assholes have some introspection.
Hate it because it's vague. Hate it because it means anyone can be banned without evidence. Don't hate it because the assholes are finally being called on their bullshit.11 -
TLDR; read the last alinea, my train just arrived and I am typing this after the resr of the rant
So lately there's been a lot of hate on here to PHP, which for now I'd say feel offended if you want to, but fuck all of the guys hating on a language without personal experience or even just plain "I used it for a week or less"-experience.
Noticed I said "a", yes I am not just talking about hate on PHP. It's pretty much the stupidest thing one can do, exclude a programming language you might like more than you will think at this moment. I present to you; My first few weeks of internship last year.
So last year I had to find a company to do an internship at with two classmates, none of them replied with a come over for a talk except a company mainly working in Laravel (PHP).
All of us didnt like php at the time, me possibly even hating it the most, but that didnt keep us from taking the leap of faith and just going to the company for a talk, I mean it couldnt hurt right?
So after the talk we had a place for an internship, which we all thought we were all going to hate, because of PHP.
Now a few weeks into the internship (3 / 10 weeks I'd say) we had basically just gotten done with the first setup of the project we had to build. And we noticed after a good 2 or 3 weeks that it didn't feel like too much of a different language.
Personally I even found it better than C# or Java, which were the only other languages I knew at the time.
Now keep in mind I still like C# and Java, allthough guven the chance I'll choose PHP everyday over both.
But I learned more things I was expecting to learn those 10 internship-weeks, with the one thing I am writing about being the main focus:
Stop hating, try the language out for at least a week (yes 5 * 8 hours) and then make an educated decission based on your findings throughout the week, you might be surprised...rant im using vue more and more lately fuck shit fuck you train does anyone actually read this tho? fuck language hater language hate6 -
Why do people hate wordpress so much? It honestly fucks me off the amount of hate it gets and I honestly get a little triggered when people give me the "aww people who use Wordpress aren't real web devs" comment? Like fuck off i use Wordpress to make using a site more easy for my clients you daft cunt. 😩24

I just became an android dev last week, yay for me. Though, I really hate how I inherited more than 50k lines of spaghetti!
They ask me to fix this and that, but that's okay for me, I can manage this.
The worst thing is we don't use any kind of version control system. And I'm always tasked to merge my work with other 2 android dev working on same spaghetti.1 -
Mysql won't start after windows update. - I don't have to say anything more to display my infinite hate.2

Teammate turned my neat minimal service architecture into dog's breakfast.
Now I don't know which one I hate more. Him or ROS.4 -
I hate fucking "managers"
The idiot that got a referral bonus, and kept it, is one.
Ffs I helped her for months in my previous company. Now she probably makes more than me.4 -
Never hated or loved Microsoft.
After joining devRant, within 4 days I hate Microsoft more than ever. Thanks Guys. -
Starting my day with 15 emails that I urgently need to respond to. I hate Thursdays. It's just meetings and emails and more meetings and more emails. No time to get work done.2

Im curious to know how people organise their workspace on windows.
I learned coding with linux.
I scored my first real job and they use mac. All good.
But at home i game and sometimes i feel like coding/gaming at the same time. But fark i hate the terminal.
How do you make it more ho my zsh/ linux terminal comfortable?6 -
(was just talking to Root now, and it reminded me of this)
You know what I fucking hate about Android phones? They do stupid shit like update your keyboard WHILE you are typing. Hate Apple as I may for having inferior hardware and ridiculous pricing, the iPhone is more worth having than Android. I simply find the features a lot better executed on iPhone than Android, almost across the board4 -
I hate when game developers make games without difficulty settings. Some people are more interested in the story, some are handicapped and so on... Don't tell your users how they should play your game...1
-
As an emerging Android developer, I must say I HATE SQLITE AND CONTENT PROVIDERS!! So much code for such little functionality! Pro Android devs, does the process get any less tedious down the road with more experience?6
-
You know what I hate? Git commit messages stating 'fixed tests' or 'fixed docs' or 'fixed integration problems'. You did not fix anything, fuckhead. You updated the code, introducing more bugs as usual. FIXED?! NO, UPDATED! That's what I hate.1
-
Something I hate about working in the team is that the code reviewer will stall the time and leave a lot of pull requests unreviewed. As more code changes more commits and more pull requests.
The code base is conflicting with each other, what the fuck? I hate this.5 -
when you're working on a project you hate, and start naming global variables in profanity ($dick , $shit , $yourMother, etc...) to make it more enjoyable2

Fucking sick. Hate this shit. But I slept a bunch today so I'm better than I was before.
Also for the past few days I've been playing Factorio cause my brother got me into it. I actually really like it. I like that it's more involved than games like Civilization. (Plus it's on Linux with pretty damn good support ya know)1 -
Recently started reading about how businesses startup and grow. As much as I hate to admit it, their problems seem more daunting than technical challenges developers face. The nature of problems is so much more dynamic, unstructured and nuanced. After all, leading strangers to work towards your personal vision is kinda neat!1

How we devs hate getting humiliated on stack overflow when we don't get the answer and someone make us feel stupid for even posting the question.
How we also secretly wish for that validation and feel proud when there are more likes on our questions.
No? Just me? Ok cool 👍5 -
Rookie here in need of help.
Is it possible to become a backend dev within 4 months?
I have been learning frontend on and off for a couple of years because I hate my job as a salesman. But I always imagined myself more as backend developer.20 -
Buying a brand new laptop, I think I'll save some money and get an i5 instead of an i7 and then turn around the next day and decide I hate money and I love having a computer that's more powerful than I need it to be.7

Thanks I hate it, I hate the fact that typescript will still transpile this. Not an exact copy of the code I'm working with, but close enough. Also this code targets es3, but we generate tsconfigs that say es5 (which don't actually get used) which leads me to believe that we generate them soley for the benefit of ides, and because if they said es3 the ide would show even more errors7

Just watched the highlights of Microsoft Build and Google IO. I gave 80% attention to Google because they have more content than Microsoft.
No hate but Microsoft is running out of boxes2 -
Hate it when I'm sincerely interested in a subject, proceed to ask someone who knows about it expecting to get an interesting conversation, a recommendation where to learn more o something, and all I get is a fucking generic answer which seems to be taken from a FAQ, and even worst, that isn't even related to what I asked 😑

There are few things I hate more in software development than writing mappings from shitty SOAP apis to JSON.2

I really have to say i love and hate dev rant :( Why is the feed so so so so bad. I see almost the same posts everytime/day. Even when i refresh. And its not better when looking at today/week/month/alltime. Is the Devrant just not maintslned anymore or are there just soo few users.
On the other hand though i find it veey enterteining and relateable at times. Much better then some twitter/insta etc .. i hope devrant will get more love from the devs and more user :)4 -
I hate that the only thing that gets me working is a deadline.. honestly I just want to be more productive is that too much to ask for...2

I kinda hate brand bias, when people don't have an open mind when judging new products.
some people are ready, up late, waiting for next apple keynote just so they have stuff to rip off.
"animoji is so pointless"
then don't use it buddy :)
"apple tracks you"
https://maps.google.com/locationhis...
"apple product limits you, google products allow you to do a lot more"
- apple iphone:
· download apps
· surf the web
· make calls and send texts
· do things offline
· use the native devRant app
pixelbook/chromeos:
· browse the fucking web
· there's a fucking 'write protect' screw in the motherboard so you can't fuck anything up
(yes I know, generally android is more customizable, but you'd expect more from a laptop over a computer)
I'm not an apple fanboy, I could make this rant about android hate, too, but because a product isn't for you doesn't mean it's not for everyone.6 -
Absolutely hate it when my software engineering module project mate merge their own commits into the team repo without anyone else reviewing.
That’s it for you, branch protection ON. One more time and you’re losing push access -
I hate that feeling when I say "I think I could fix it" and eventually accepting that I have to ask for help, and maybe pay for it. That feeling tastes like defeat, and it's the same way people feels when they need my services. I think this should help me be more sympathetic with clients, but it doesn't.

Used TFS for last 7 years and now have to use GIT. OMG Can't get my head wrapped around it. Everything is so confusing. Online articles don't help a beginner. Send help please. Started using Bitbucket with Sourcetree. Still learning. I hate to say this But I feel TFS is more intuitive. Maybe because I'm new to GIT.16

I was in a okay mood. Then i drank. I had fun skyping with some people (dont judge, it was their choice). Now im drunk, alone and getting more and more depressed.
Im honestly considering going to McDonalds and give away a few rubber ducks and show some card tricks, maybe ill get some friends. Or haters.
Conclusion: I hate when i get drunk. When im sober, i cant wait to get drunk. This isnt even a conclusion, i have no idea what im doing.12 -
I cant really understand all the hate about JavaScript. I learned C as my first language and I have to admit that once you think of js as a kind of C scripting language it all make so much more sense especially when it comes to optimizations which come with syntactic sugar like coffeejs and so on.4
-
I hate when people say "why do you prefer programming instead of football/sports? " . I like sports but I hate all the super addicted people who fight just because someone said " I don't follow your team".
Is too bad to say that I don't know all the players of a team ? If I say so there will be always someone saying " We know that, you are a fucking nerd.".
Oh well sorry for the angry post. I am more calm now.9 -
As a developer you're expected to perform all sorts of tasks that don't necessarily involve any coding or development at all. "A web form in Drupal? Uhm, it's got something to do with the web, right? Yeah, let's dump it on 'IT'."
So now I've been given this most frustrating task to use some form engine in Drupal. I have no access to the PHP code itself, and I don't even know what this form engine is called. All I know it's the crappiest of crap. The more I use it the more I hate it. -
How much I hate when someone says "You need to do this because in my experience this is more optimized". Dude, have you even profiled that?
-
Sometimes I really have a feeling that God invented Jira to punish me
I really hate it . It's like working with an OCD and sinile old man .
More over this Jira comes with Entourage of duchbags that suppose to support it, but are stupid as fuck.13 -
I hate systemic problems.
I hate that a stable housing situation and perfect weather and luck are required to work.
I hate that malcontents and malicious people fucked people out of their jobs.
I hate rolling and cancerous financial ruin coming from scammers ponzi schemes and corrupt people who only care about lining their own pockets.
I hate that being middle class is a nightmare of anxiety because nothing is guaranteed.
I hate the lack of services to quickly without stupid catches get a person on their feet.
I hate the retarded take on things these fuckers created to make these problems worse.
I hate hardcore drug addicts and pushers fucking up benefits and services for honest people.
I hate whores stealing houses apartments and jobs by selling their asses and children to old fucked up perverted diseased scum.
I hate schedules that make it hard to get places.
People who drive everywhere because public transportation sucks.
Public transportation sucking because people suck up oil and destroy car after car
Basic housing not being available so people can be safe at night and find jobs.
I hate wars that suck money out of my country
I hate parents that fuck up the next generation by abusing their children
I hate the parents who fucked up the current generation making this time period miserable
I hate people not facing facts about basic necessities
I hate decaying buildings that cost more to repair because no one maintains them
I hate sprawling shit houses that could be combined into towers
And most of all
I hate people taking extreme liberties in destroying my own telling me I have to be careful what I say and I hate fucking liars6 -
One thing I hate about receiving secured passwords on secured channels like Signal is the font. Really grinds my gears that I can't tell if that's an l (lowercase L) or an I (uppercase i) and more so with 0 and O. Uuuugghh2

Spend last two hours trying to get a language pack for Microsoft Office. Two fuckin' hours with just an error saying "Please check your internet connection and see if you have space on disk"
Yes motherfucker, I fuckin have internet connection and I have 1 fuckin terabyte free on my fucking disk.
The only fuckin solution on Office's forum is to uninstall and reinstall the whole office software. Just to add one fuckin language pack.
I'm going crazy... Everyday I hate Microsoft products more and more and fuckin more.1 -
Spent about an hour and a half getting an NPE. Cleaned the project, rebuilt, restarted IntelliJ, danced the ancient code dance... Nothing.
Clicked Run one more time and everything worked. TF was that about? I HATE these types of bugs!!1 -
I hate my scrum calls so much. People go into the fucking weeds and the scrum master is so clueless. Doesn't stop them and let people ramble. Jesus christ.
If scrum calls last more than 10 minutes, I think you're doing it wrong.1 -
!Rant
I absolutely hate click bait... But not type you're thinking of. The type of click bait of a stack overflow question and it's either totally not related or goes unanswered... Or even worse it's just a typo in their code.
But i have a solution! You won't believe what it is!

(PS: I don't have a solution, I still hate it and struggle daily)1 -
I really wish ops communicated more with devs. As a dev I really hate throwing things over the wall. They must hate it too...
-
Somebody write more and more ugly / incomprehensible lines of code for 1-2 beautiful line.
But the bug is always in ugly code.
I hate these programmers, I hate these programs!1 -
Thank you Matlab, for my daily dose of frustration.
Thank you Matlab, for deciding to surface-plot a 2D variable with the x axis = columns and y axis = rows, because of course that's the most intuitive way to go about it.
Because of course that's consistent with the standard way to refer to a variable's elements.
After all, everybody knows that Z(i, j) refers to the i-th column and j-th row of a matrix, right?
Thank you, Matlab, for depriving me of the little fuck I gave about getting something done today.
Now go die in a fire.6 -
“Data structures”... More like “i hate java so much and i am thinking of dropping outta college and live in a cave where i never have to see a monitor ever again.” Am i right?3
-
My favourite task for when I had to kill some hours in between things is almost completed and I really liked it. I hate the fact that I have to do more boring or annoying tasks in thr future when having a few hours.
-
Did it ever happen to you that you were needed to map a mental and overly complex for no reason db schema to a simple json, and you hate yourself more every key you press because rewriting it more efficiently and simply is never an option?
How do you cope with managers and legacy code?
If it works does not necessarily mean that we should keep it, jesus christ.2 -
I hate when people compare programming languages without understanding much, e.g. "Do they have semicolon or not?" "Lol there are lots of parentheses in Lisp". I even hear someone said "Haskell and PHP are alike because they both use the $ sign"
Come on, don't be that shallow, programming languages are much more then syntax and their logos. Learn more about their paradigms, ideologies, the reasons behind those designs. -
triggers {
cron('H */1 * * 1-5') // 23 every working day
}
I hate when comments are not updated along with code.
Even more when git blame points at me xD1 -
Man, I love Postgres, but one thing I hate about it is its naming scheme.
As far as I know, there is... None.
So I'm always left wondering how certain configuration directives referring to Postgres will be written down as.
Pick your favorite:
Postgres
PostgreSQL
Psql
PgSQL
And maybe more...
Or is there a naming scheme / system I'm not aware of?4 -
I do hate Skype. But it's UX even more. Esp., when password field isn't autofocused nor accessible via tab key 😧2
-
That moment when I.. Wait, I think it's when... NAH... Never had one. It doesn't mean I hate it thought. For me it's more: I fall in love with it in the process of learning it.2
-
This week is the week of planning ahead for the whole left year upto beginning of next year.
My tongue has muscle soreness, my brains gyri are straightened out, my throat is hoarse... And talking really feels like licking a cactus.
I. Hate. Talking.
Just one more day with 8 hours of meetings.
*drools*9 -
I wish senior people would just admit if they don't know something or are unsure. I hate spending time implementing a feature and spending more time troubleshooting it only to ask for help and be questioned why I'm "doing it like that" in the first place...
YOU TOLD ME THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE!!!1 -
It's a beautiful day outside. I wish it were raining. We're forced to work Sunday and I already hate it.
There are 52 Sundays in a year, and 1/3 of them are covered in snow, ice and brutal winter. I don't want to be here today. I want to be outside.
Almost everyone in this room has a partner or kids or someone to go home to. I get to go home alone. I hate it here. I can't even look at my manager any more. I hate him. I will never do this again. No amount of money gets you a Sunday back.2 -

I'm a linux fan (not fanboy) and I just discovered I can have a Microsoft Imagine account from my school and I don't fucking know if I want to use windows to learn Azure and .NET
I quite hate Microsoft for their privacy policies and their recent approach to windows
But it would be a shame not to learn that stuff
Any advice?
Fuck (to make it more ranty)5 -
Just got out of a meeting where they revealed to me that I will be the only dev on this project and I'll need to update the entire thing to a more modern coding standard.
But the project is 10 years old... and is massive... Why do they hate me so much? -
Studying and working at tge same time is hard. I woke up before seven, spend 6 hours studying for exam I have tomorrow, now I'm going to office, and when I get back at 7pm I have to finish project for tomorrow and study some more for exam. Hate days like this one4
-
Every idea that I suggest to my cto, he turns it down, giving some stupid reason like nobody will use it, other tasks are more important than this. I hate this guy so much for not doing things when they can be done. I have no idea why he procrastinates and will he ever consider my suggestions in the future.3
-
I hate it when you post about a problem you have on a programming live chat, wait 3 hours and get no response, and then someone else posts a different a problem and instantly gets help. What makes their problem more urgent than mine? And it's not that the people who are supposed to be helping don't know how to work with it, BECAUSE THEY'RE IN THE CHAT FOR JAVASCRIPT.
-
You know I don't want to hate everyone
Since you guys seem so intentionally narrating ok fucked up mindsets you all apparently create in your psycho offspring
Wouldn't it make more sense to put this suppose duplicate who is like allof you creatures in this ?
Unless I'm gonna be contracted to remove people who do these awful things it's a waste of time really8 -
I hate it when you work your ass off for the company product and they don’t even care to send the salary on time. I mean how can you expect your developers to be productive when you don’t even let them have their monthly dose of dopamine. Sometimes this delay can extend to more than one month so young developers out there, please make your decision wisely.3
-
I know it doesn't really apply because we have widescreen monitors now, but regardless, I hate seeing code that runs the width of the screen, I'd much rather have more lines than more columns. Viva la vertical!5
-
Spent a few hours optimising a procedure...
It's almost quitting time now, my procedure is returning wrong results in more time...
I hate "productivity" on Friday... -
I hate the Laravel community more than Laravel itself because they tolerated it to develop upto version 5.x with Laravel still pointing out errors in framework's codebase rather than a proper traceback to user's code.
Messed up shit.By Laravel.By PHP :)3 -
Trying to compare two files line by line to see if a signal has increased by 5 dbm or more in bash is hurting my brain. I probably need to switch from bash for it but so much of the other jobs this script does is fully functional in bash I'd hate to switch now. Any advice please help.4
-
I think I'm becoming an expert in alt aramaic.
Maybe hebrew. Or galic.
All languages would make more sense to me - although I don't know them - than TFS errors, C Sharp compiler errors or anything else coming from this vomitting, miserere suffering pile of garbage....
Hate. Is too nice....
Seriously, who invented this and thought it would make sense?3 -
I'm friendly by nature.
I once asked one of my colleague for code related help. He was generous enough to commit it directly into the repo, only I'm supposed to handle.
It's been six month, and there is nothing I hate even more.2 -
So I'm currently having a love/hate relationship with Atom... I love that it only has what I want and nothing more, but I hate that it lacks a lot of basic features like automatically adding the closing tags to my html, and the only beautifying package I can find defaults to two spaces instead of my usual 4 and I can't find how to change it.
Does anyone know how to change the spacing on the beautify package? And does anyone know a package that will auto close my html tags?7 -
ng2; endless cycle of love and hate,
Except it's not love, more like happiness,
happiness from taking revenge -
There are few things I hate more in life than interacting with storyboards.
It's like Apple held on a contest to see what the least user friendly file someone could invent was. Not to mention the editor only existing in Xcode - the VS editor has been fucked since early this year.1 -
Hate spending more time answering questions than doing the development. Pointless title of developer...
-
I love laravel. But I hate blade as it's templating engine. Why didn't they choose pug. Its so much more readable. I know I can have it by packages. But I would rather see it as the default.10
-
In my 4 companies i worked with, one thing which i learnt is the Product documentation is only needed by the Managers, neither the client, nor the users, of course not the developers. We hate them more than the testers.
💀💀3 -
I HATE dealing with Map objects in Java. Much like everything else in Java, the API is far too verbose. What's more annoying is how Oracle seems unbothered to improve it.5

Dejar A.I. who's about to rule the world:
If you steal my job I'll have to go back working as waiter and I hate it more than I hate grub updates. Please, consider to preserve my job as sysadmin and, in exchange I will rat out all my contacts with suspicious non digital activities. If I loose my job I'll be forced to do something drastic, like tell everyone you've been created by Steve Jobs. Let's be nice to each other, uh? -
Trying to use a certain library for my ORM needs. It seems that the devs 'forgot' to add decent documentation.
Also trying out another library to integrate with it. Again, no decent documentation.
It pisses me off how A LOT of Node.js libraries have the worst documentation ever, and if they do have some seemingly okay ones, they conveniently leave out the more complex functionalities. What do they want to achieve here? For people to head to their Github pages to sniff at the code?
Holy fucking shit. I hate you people. I even hate having to use these in the first place. -
I hate js, but I hate more coffeescript and his arrow -> and fat arrow => to give context to functions7
-
Reluctantly thinking of switching to a PM role so i could focus all my code-fu to my side projects!!
what do u guys think? i know most of us hate PMs, but they do get paid more for what i think is less work (mental focus wise).
😞😞😞2 -
If there's one thing i love and hate about JS arrow functions, it's the fact that they don't have a 'this' to themselves--great most times, VERY horrible the few times you need 'this' and forget that little caveat. I just wasted more time than I'm proud to admit because I forgot that
-
I hate it when clients send documents that aren't properly formatted.
I hate it even more when it's unclear what the content of the document is about. :/ -
Okay recently I've seen more and more hate towards Apple.
So this got me curious why is Apple so bad according you guy?
I mean they are just sticking at their founding rules and kept it ever since.5 -
I hate it when I accidentally gitlab my changes by running "git checkout ." instead of "git checkout master." It happens very infrequent when I decide to trust my shell history more than I need to.
-
Question.
Yesterday, I watched movie Moneyball yet again.
One particular dialogue caught my attention and I am kind of unclear on this. Can somebody explain?
"You get on base, we win. You don't, we lose. And I hate losing, Chavy. I hate it. I hate losing more than I even wanna win. There is a difference"
What is the difference?2 -
Me: I hate our current graphing frontend, its super hard to do anything more complex in here and it looks like it was made in the last century, we need a more modern solution!
Also me: Uuuugh, this modern graphing frontend lags my browser soooo much!
Why is dealing with graphs so hard? D:1 -
Everything that isn't code drives me nuts. Like build scripts? How do those even. And I always find myself fighting against my IDE to do simple things. And how do I use a debugger? Println statements only take me so far.
-
The new team member seems to hate me... For releases, each component that needs to be released has an owner responsible for building and post release merging.
I already own 2 branches but she assigned me 2 more... -
I hate how sales guy believe that they can not only products which are not yet completed, but with features which have never even been discussed. "We gotta do this to get more clients, which means more money! We all have to keep running forward!". Well, guess what? *You* are the one running forward, while *we* have to build the goddamn floor so you can run freely as you like. But I guarantee you, with this metodology and pace you'll soon be playing pitfall instead of running.2
-
God I hate people...
Was asked to change a few things on one of our websites including shortening a sliders height to give more room for stuff of the page, I did this and now they are complaining about the images being cut off at the bottom. No fucking shit! You wanted it shorter!1 -
So about that test that I failed so much at, my marks are out got 81 out 100 wohooo but I hate waiting even more now1
-
I really hate it when you are reading DevRant on a public wifi network, and the network decides to drop the "more rants" packet, that you are blocked from loading more rants. Why do most applications stop loading more pages after a single request times out, it's really annoying2
-
So basically, At work, we are starting to get bigger, more devs, more ppl, but we are starting to get QA, and PM, and Im starting to hate it4
-
you know how i hate things that can't be verified without far more man hours than I have available ?
just requires you to take something on faith which may not be vital but it still requires you to take something on faith from a source you don't always trust. -
Don't you hate it when you think you have the situation under control, you had tested and checked every edge case which you can think of, then you added and double tested some fresh undetected cases from colleagues, QA, project managers and even some of the higher ups, and then when you... Can traefik's documentation and configuration be any more confusing and retarded? I hate this thing. Any good alternatives?1
-
DevOps fucks up. I search and send them docs for reference, to resolve issue. DevOps brushes it off, fucks up even more. Eventually comes back to docs, reads it and fixes it.
Lost 4 good hours, for which I already had productive plans. DevOps is putting the responsibility of checking whether they're setting it up correctly or not, on me, a dev. I hate this! -
(Metà)
I hate the “life sucks and is meaningless ihihihi” millennial humor and I hate it even more when I find it here on DevRant1 -
Agrrr... I hate to do code review of that shit! I hate to write docs for that shit! I hate to talk to PM! I hate dumb developers!
But there are several things about programming that make me calm and happy. When I'm thinking about one of those things I just sit and smile.
One such a thing is the process of upgrading gcc from sources.
1. Build new gcc with old gcc.
2. Build new gcc again with newly built gcc. Call this build A.
3. Build new gcc once more with build A. Call this build B.
4. Compare that A and B are exactly identical to the last bit.
5. You now have self reproducing compiler.
That is just beautiful and literally gives me chills.
