I taught myself programming in 1999, spent two months writing simple ad tracking script in php
I still earn about 1500/ month from it.
Those were the good old days21
I created an app that would let people in software development and general I.T related fields to bitch about shit and just rant about stuff.
But two glorious assholes stole it from me. So no startup.13
Around 45 days ago after years of burnout and abuse I finally quit my job when I finally realised that all the promises of greener pastures and reinforcements were nothing but tales of sugar candy mountain.
I had no idea where or what I wanted to work on or even have any leads for work but I knew if I kept recursively burning out soon there wouldn't be anything left of me to give.
Flashforward 45 days and I am the proud owner of Sane software solutions which I am currently the only full time employee of.
My old company has become my customer since no one else knows the legacy system, 11 days after quitting their invoice exceeded my previous salary with a quarter of the work and I just landed an awesome contract with some engineers I feel privileged to listen to working on some neat IOT stuff, I've quadrupled my income and now work an 8 hour day.
Don't be despondent, there are better things in life to bleed for than another mother fuckers ambitions ✌4
I have been working on an app for the startup i co-founded as only developer fulltime for the last 8 months...
I have yet to buy my first bread from the money i dont earn..
I quit my job 1 year ago about and am working freelance now. next step is make tutorial vids then once I get that solid it's on to my startup which is in the data analytics field.4
I am not sure if its qualified as a startup.
So me and my friend launched this platform (on android only for now) back march.
Basically its a platform, build around the idea to help each other. Let me come up with an example.
Let say you need help with something like "help in your garden" or "someone to babysit your kids" basically things you do in your daily life. Its also a way to earn money, by doing tasks like that.
It isnt really a big thing, but i do belive in it (its only a couple hundred registered users) and its only available in Denmark for now.
For me its not to build something really complex, but rather something that could maybe make the life easier for someone else.4
Step 1: Become a freelancer
Step 2: Enjoy working
Step 3: Get annoyed by doing all the backoffce
Step 4: Get hired instead
Step 5: Work hard
Step 6: Boss notices your talent
Step 7: Boss founds startup with you
Step 8: Repeat Step2 until you have to repeat Step48
1. take a web application working in somebody computer since 4 years with tons of features.
2. Believe that the application is the future and solve brilliantly a general market need.
3. multiply income of current only customer by 10: you are going to be rich.
3. start to install 2, 3 customers.
4. discover the application is shit. Doesn't solve well the problem. Functionalities are different for each customer
5. discover that customers are willing to pay 1/10th of the original customer
6. quickly reingeneer the application to a multitenant cloud application, because with 3 customers and different versions you are already in deep shit
7. keep giving away the application for free to flagship customers. With a lot of customisation developed for free.
8. reach 200 customers in 5 years and still no break even, but lot of debts
9. resort to financial tricks to keep the company going
Luckily money are not mine. They could be recovered.
Unluckily the time spent was mine. It couldn't be recovered
Hope that the application will finally crash so that I can move on to the next thing: retirement in a mental asylum
I dont have a startup yet but in the future I would love to have a game development company where we make inhouse games, but also make educational games for customers.2
I still pay for GSuite and the domain of my "startup" project that I have had shelved for well over two years now. Dammit.
Suprisingly Im actually thinking about starting one.
It will need lot of work for sure but well lets hope for the best.
I'll probably start my startup in Italy next January.
It won't even be related to technology, but I hope it will do well.
It will be a second-job, so not much time, but I'm gonna push into it all I have to make it works as well as possible
Well I tried to start an startup a year ago but we had some troubles, but this week a friend of mine who is the guy that I share my idea to create the startup. We met and we are ready to work on that again. Wish me luck guys and if you are starting a startup, too. Good luck 😎 you can do it6
have some ideas but only ones that i consider startup material are not software but hardware based!1
entrepreneurship is kinda what i wanna do especially with women in tech i really really want that but still behind on what the purpose of it would be
Been working on my esports tracker for several years in my free time, I finally have a plan to make it an actual product.1
