competitive salary
so competitive we refuse to compete by actually stating it
by this point I might just have some fun and not apply to jobs persay but just write funny blurbs to them about their ads
I think I'm finding I just don't wanna work with all these technologies1 -
guuyyyssss....?
What'd just happen....?
I remember this happening quite often on Windows machines: occasionally some random popup window appears for a second or two, does whatever it does and disappears; usually it's either a cmd or a ps window.
Just a few moments ago a weird window popped up on my screen, its title bar was saying something about VisualStudio, and after ~2 seconds it disappeared.
The reasons I find this concerning:
- I don't have anything VS-related installed on my current environment
- I've been running Linux for years now
What the f did just happen...11 -
I guess I'll never be able to do tech talks in events...
Hearing my own voice through the speakers freaks me out. Every time. Tech talk, asking a question or wishing a happy marriage in my friend's wedding.
It's soo freaking weird...2 -
the more time I spend in this industry, the more I come to realize that it's a very blurry line between PROGRAMMING and CONFIGURING.
How much programming do you do these days, really? Isn't it just configuring your frameworks and libraries and engines to do what they do in the way you want?
Does it still make you programmers...?
And then what are these .conf files for your application? A declarative configuration for your... imperative configuration...?20 -
I haven't been productive since the bs. (Refer to previous rant) And one deadline is approaching very fast.
My Christmas was ruined because I was anxious/annoyed/everything negative about the bs as well as being alone and stuck in a village. My new year has always been crap but this year it was extra crap.
Overall, I'm having none of the fun. My life is starting to feel like a deadend. I feel like I have to give up on my dreams to survive. And that no one is really on my side, despite whatever they say.
The ADHD rejection sensitivity is also heavily activated. Like I know that realistically I can fix this, but at this point I just want to break everything and let the ship sink.
I have lost time that I could be productive to this bs. And I wish nothing but misery for all those responsible for putting me in this situation. (I take responsibility for my mistakes, but not for how others behaved towards me)6 -
Lost my auntie to a very long cancer battle.
There is a long list of people that I would've rather died than her.
Why don't workplaces have a category of leave for "literally dying inside"?10 -
My shower tap has two modes:
- Quark-melting relativistic beam of sizzling hot plasma
- Time-freezing liquid death from the cold heart of Dante’s hell4 -

Big boss: Last year we had much more revenue and profits than our expectations, and this success is thanks to all of you. Thank you! You made an excellent work! Impressive!
Some employee: Can we all get a raise?
Big boss: Wtf that question again? No way!9 -
reality: I saw null in the debugger here, causing the bug
add a null check
IDE: you don't need to check for null, this can't be null
what do you do when you can't trust the tools you work with8 -
Fun Fact: Did you know that git clone starts a child process for downloading the repo but the parent process terminates, therefore working in an asynchrone way so &&-ing the next instruction, which might rely on those files, won't help you?
Well now you know, and so do I.
Fornicating piece of excrement, what a fun afternoon.17 -
In other news, I have been forbidden by my boss to implement any security or performance improvements into the company infrastructure as this holds no business value. Furthermore, passwords are not to be a random alphanumeric+special-chars string but something legible.14

Two things I learned in 2023:
- If you want to lose weight, you have to eat more (protein), not eat less
- Unhealthy coping numbs the pain at the moment for the price of amplifying it later5 -
c++ has a little bit of a learning curve, I think.
Used smart pointers everywhere in my code because I heard that's what we gotta do nowadays.
When learning about shared vs unique vs weak, I disregarded weak pointers because I didn't really understand them.
"That sounds like something for liberal pansies", I said to myself, then continued on with my STRONG shared and unique pointers.
Now my app leaks memory like a MOTHERFUCKER, if you can believe that.
So now I need to go back and manage my object lifetime with more intent instead of just making everything a shared pointer. Fuckin circular references. Fuckin reaping what I fuckin sow. God damn.9 -
This platform went to shit, sinking in a never ending sea of hate of our own making. This is why I’ll be posting cute cats everyday from now on.16
